Kicked Out

The guards just stood there, frozen, not daring to move even an inch.

They looked at Russell, then at Jacob. Sweat trickled down their foreheads. This was a family matter, and they didn't want to butt in, lest they lose their jobs.

The atmosphere in the living room turned suffocating. No one spoke.

Even Ethan forgot the pain on his swollen face, as confusion flashed in his eyes.

“What are you waiting for?” Jacob roared, veins bulging from his neck. “I said throw him out!”

But still, no one moved. The young man sitting casually on the main sofa radiated an invisible pressure that made their legs tremble.

His gaze was calm, but it carried an unquestionable authority that didn’t match his age.

“Conflicted?” Russell asked lazily, crossing one leg over the other.

The guards lowered their heads slightly, swallowing the lump in their throat.

They didn't dare to move. This young man was not to be trifled with.

Jacob’s expression grew uglier by the second. What the heck was wrong with these guards?

“Are you all deaf?” he bellowed, as he couldn't take it anymore.

“Or do you want to lose your jobs?”

“You might want to think carefully before following his orders,” Russell smirked, the smile on his face getting wider as he leaned back comfortably against the sofa.

“This villa,” he continued,

“Just like I've said before, is under my name.”

“What nonsense are you talking about?” Anna blinked, turning to Jacob for answers, but the latter just looked away, seemingly afraid to say anything.

Years ago, when Russell’s mother was alive, she had insisted on transferring the deed of the villa to Russell’s name.

At that time, he hadn’t cared. After all, who would care about such little things?

“You’re bluffing,” Anna scoffed, though her voice lacked confidence as her husband couldn't say anything.

“Am I?” Russell’s lips curved upward, raising his hand slightly, beckoning to the guards.

Instinctively, one of them stepped forward, bowing slightly.

“Bring the property documents from the study. Second drawer,” Russell commanded, his voice firm, leaving no room for negotiation.

The guard hesitated for only a split second before turning around and rushing upstairs.

Minutes later, the guard returned, holding a folder. He then handed it respectfully to Russell.

Russell didn’t even look at it. Instead, he tossed it casually onto the glass table.

“Open it,” he continued calmly, pointing at the folder with the deed of the villa.

Anna rushed forward, quickly snatching it up, flipping through the pages hurriedly.

Anna's expression changed, her body shaking as she read the content of the folder.

“This… this…” she stuttered, as her hands began to shake, not believing her eyes.

Ethan also rushed forward to check the documents, but he staggered backward almost immediately.

“No… that’s impossible…” He stuttered, his eyes widened with horror as he couldn't believe his eyes.

Russell slowly stood up. His movements were unhurried, yet every step felt like it echoed loudly in their ears.

“So,” he muttered softly,

“Tell me again, who’s trespassing?”

Jacob's face turned ugly as he clenched his fists so tightly that his knuckles turned white.

The guards exchanged glances; their loyalty was tied to salary, and salary was tied to ownership. If the villa belonged to Russell, then technically, they were standing in his house.

“So what if it’s under your name?” he snapped. “I am your father! Everything you own belongs to me!” Jacob roared, his pride refusing to let him give in.

“Father?” Russell chuckled, his voice filled with sarcasm.

“I don't have one.”

“Remember Jacob, we are not related anymore,” Russell clicked his tongue, his smile widened.

Jacob froze, eyes nearly popping out of their sockets, unable to say anything.

Anna suddenly shrieked, waving her hands wildly,

“Fine! Even if it’s under your name, we’ve been living here for years! You can’t just kick us out like this!”

“Years?” he repeated thoughtfully.

“And whose years were those?”

Anna opened her mouth but couldn’t answer. Shame washed over her.

Russell’s gaze swept across the luxurious living room.

“This house was my mother’s,” he uttered, voice calm and void of all emotions.

“You moved in right after my mother passed away, all because my awesome father had always been faithful,” Russell huffed, his voice filled with sarcasm.

“You redecorated it, treated the rightful owner like a servant.” Russell's voice grew colder with every word.

“And today, you broke my limbs and threw me into the trash.”

Silence fell once more. The guards subconsciously lowered their heads. Even they felt ashamed hearing it. They had hurt the real owner of the house; were they seeking to lose their jobs?

Anna’s face flushed red. “That was..."

“Enough,” Russell interrupted sharply. He couldn't be bothered to argue with them anymore; he was tired.

“Throw them out,” he commanded, relaxing back on the sofa.

Anna’s eyes widened, not believing her ears.

“You can’t do this!” Ethan roared.

Jacob’s expression turned extremely ugly. “Russell! Don’t push things too far!”

“Too far?” Russell laughed softly, but he couldn't be bothered with that.

“Throw them out,” he repeated, glancing at the guards who moved immediately.

“How dare you touch me?” Anna yelled, struggling as the guards grabbed her arms.

“I’ll call the police! I’ll sue you!”

“Call them,” Russell shrugged, not caring about anything at the moment.

“It’ll save me a lot of trouble. You’re currently occupying a private property without the owner’s consent. Let's see how they'll judge that.”

“Out of my face,” Russell bellowed, his expression changing. Instantly, the guards moved, dragging the family out of the villa.

“Russell! You ungrateful brat!”

“You’ll regret this!”

Screams of the family echoed outside, but Russell didn't care.

It wasn't that they couldn't afford another villa. But this villa was one of the most expensive in Bayview, costing hundreds of millions.

Anna, who only cared about her status and face, couldn't possibly bear to be kicked out of such a place after everything.

Inside the villa, Russell stood calmly in the center of the living room, breathing in a sigh of relief. After kicking out the family, he felt a huge sense of relief.

“Ding!” The mechanical voice of the system sounded, pulling him back to his senses.

“Ledger Updated”

“Target: Jacob Miller”

“Settlement Progress: 20%.”

“Target: Anna Smith.”

“Settlement Progress: 20%.”

“Target: Ethan Miller.”

“Settlement Progress: 30%.”

“Reward: Complete Ownership Of Twin Tower.”

“Huh?”

Russell froze hearing this, his eyes nearly bulging out of their sockets. The Twin Tower?

The Twin Tower was a well-known commercial building and one of the biggest in the city.

Many companies had their offices there and the annual revenue of the tower was in hundreds of millions.

Taking a deep breath, he remembered the other rewards too. He would have to check them out. Especially the Medical Sovereign.

Without another word, Russell prepared to head to his room; just as he was about to leave, he suddenly remembered something, turned around and called out to the guards.

“Yes, Young Master." The guards answered almost immediately.

“Throw out all their belongings,” Russell stated, and without any further ado, walked away.

This was just the beginning of everything.
