(The Next Day)
The sun rose slowly over the city skyline, casting golden light over towering buildings and busy streets. Standing before a magnificent building was Russell. In front was a large sign which read, "Miller Biotech Group." This was his mother’s life’s work. For years, he had walked through these doors with his head lowered, wearing cheap clothes, enduring mockery and humiliation, all because his father suggested it would be best to work from the bottom all the way up. He had foolishly believed. And while Ethan enjoyed a high position with a high salary, he was stuck at the bottom with a small salary which would sometimes get docked by Ethan's minions. If he complained to his father, he wouldn't say anything and just told him to put up with it. But today, all of that would end. He was done enduring. With that thought in mind, Russell walked in slowly. The moment he stepped in, a few eyes landed on him, and whispers began as gossip started to fly around. "Isn’t that Russell?” "I thought he got kicked out of the family?” "Didn’t he sell company secrets?” Voices flowed into his ears, none caring if he heard or not. No one respected him as the son of the chairman. At the reception desk, a woman with heavy makeup looked up lazily. She had always enjoyed making his life difficult, and she was also one of those who would falsify his attendance just to make sure his pay was docked. "Well, well," the lady, Clara, smirked, her voice filled with disdain, "look who decided to show up.” Russell threw her a glance, then ignored her before walking away. He couldn't bother with a side character like her. Clara’s smile stiffened, embarrassment washed over her, not believing Russell had just ignored her. "Hey! I’m talking to you!" she yelled, trying to get his attention, her eyes contorting with rage. Still, Russell ignored her, his footsteps steady as he made his way toward the operations department: the lowest department, where he worked as a data sorting assistant. It was one of the lowest ranks in the company, just slightly above the cleaners and the guards. Everyone who came with him and after him had all been promoted, yet he never received a single one despite almost working himself to death every single time. Most times, all of his credits were taken away by his superior, and he had no other way to complain. His father wouldn't listen and would only tell him to endure. "Russell!" A loud yell came the moment Russell walked into the office. The voice echoed through the office floor. Several employees immediately turned to watch. They were about to watch an interesting show. After all, it was not a secret that Russell was the son of the chairman, but he had never received treatment like one. Turning around slowly, Russell's gaze locked onto a figure marching furiously toward him: his supervisor, Gordon. He was one of Ethan's lackeys, and the very person who had always stolen his credits. Behind him stood two familiar faces, Ryan and Marcus, Ethan’s loyal lackeys. "You dare show your face here?!" Gordon barked, stopping right before Russell. "You didn’t come to work yesterday!" Gordon continued, scolding Russell. "You also didn’t answer your phone! Do you think this company runs at your convenience?!” "You know, maybe he was too busy selling secrets again," Ryan mocked, his voice filled with disgust as he looked at Russell. Laughter erupted from a few corners; everyone covered their mouths as though to hide the laughter. Russell narrowed his brows, staring at the three before him. He wasn't here to bargain or argue. "Russell, you’re fired,” Gordon suddenly announced, pointing at Russell. "I don't care,” Russell shrugged, spreading out his arms, a smile slowly spreading on his face. "What did you just say?" Gordon's expression changed, glaring at Russell. Russell slipped his hands into his pockets, a mocking smile etched on his face, and repeated, "I said, I don’t care.” "Or do you not understand basic human language?" He mocked, clicking his tongue while shaking his head. "You think you can act arrogant here?" Gordon roared; his body shook, embarrassment washed over him as he pointed at Russell, his body shaking with rage. "You’re nothing but a low-level trash employee!” "Security!" Within moments, four security guards rushed over. Employees stepped back, excitement flashing in their eyes. Was Russell about to get beaten up? "There he is," Gordon pointed at Russell, his expression still dark, "throw him out.” "Are you going to leave or do you want us to drag you out?" One of the guards cracked his knuckles, walking slowly toward Russell, a wide grin on his face. "Drag me out?" Russell mused, feeling rather amused. "Why don't you try?" He shrugged, his rage slowly building up. As the son of the chairman, not a single person in the company respected him. Even the guards walked all over him. Now, it was time to collect some debts along with interest. "How dare you?" The guards flew into a rage, rushing towards Russell, wanting to teach him a lesson. Everyone watched, eyes glinting with expectancy, wanting to hear Russell scream and beg for mercy. Instead of Russell's yell for mercy, the guards' screams echoed along the floor, and in mere minutes, they were all sent flying, laying on the floor, either having an arm or leg broken. "And you," Russell turned to Gordon, whose eyes were wide open, like they wanted to expand from their sockets. "Your turn,” he declared. The smile on his face widened, and the next moment, he appeared before him before punching out. The blow to Gordon’s face caused him to fly backward, crashing into a desk and knocking over papers and monitors. Blood trickled from his nose, causing the employees to freeze, their eyes nearly bulging out of their sockets. They wanted to say something, but the instant Russell's cold gaze landed on them, they swallowed all their thoughts and stepped back. "Where are you going?” Russell turned to Ryan and Marcus, who were about to slip away. "You enjoyed bullying me before, didn’t you?" Russell said slowly, his footsteps echoing along the floor as he walked towards the two, who stood frozen, not believing their eyes. "N-no…" Ryan stammered, swallowing the lump in his throat. Marcus was no better as he was also shaking like a leaf. Before the two could say anything, Russell's merciless punches and kicks landed as he beat the two, inducing Gordon into a pulp. "Ding!" The mechanical voice of the system sounded the instant he was done. "Sub-Ledger Completed.” "Settlement Progress: 100%.” "Reward: Two Hundred Million." Russell smiled seeing this; as expected, though they were not part of a main ledger, they were a sub-ledger item. Shaking his head, he prepared to leave; he had no interest in taking his stuff anymore. But just as he was about to get to the door, a loud yell came as someone rushed in. "The Chairman is here."Latest Chapter

"Jasmine," Russell called softly, staring at the lady before him."You still know how to call my name." Jasmine rolled her eyes at Russell, her eyes filled with delight as she held his arms. His clothes had dried now, though he still quite reeked of sweat and other things."I heard what happened, and I must say, I support you," Jasmine grinned, chuckling as if recalling what had happened.Jasmine was the daughter of his mother's close friend. They were the only ones who helped Russell in the past. But because Russell didn't want to break off from his family, he refused to quit his mother's company and work in her friend's company, even with the high position she offered him.Besides, his father had threatened to disown him if he did; thus, there was nothing he could do about it."Don't talk about them; I don't want to hear." Russell smiled, shaking his head. This was just the beginning. He would make sure they all suffered for what they did. He was never going to let any of them off—n
Twin Tower
Russell didn’t look back after Bruce’s convoy disappeared into the distance. He couldn't care less if the old man believed him. It was his luck to have met him, and since he did not believe him, then that was also his luck.Across the road, standing tall and majestic under the afternoon sun, were the Twin Towers. Two identical skyscrapers pierced into the sky, their glass exteriors reflecting the bustling city. Many companies who could have their own building were stationed right inside the building, all because it represented status and power.Russell narrowed his eyes slightly. This was his next destination.Without hesitation, he crossed the road and walked straight toward the entrance. The doors spun lazily as executives in suits walked in and out. The atmosphere here was entirely different from the chaotic riverbank. Each executive belonged to a different company within the building, but none cared.Just as Russell stepped onto the staircase leading to the entrance, two guards bl

"Huh!"The crowd froze, hearing this, as they couldn't believe their ears.Fifteen million for saving a boy? If they knew this, they would have jumped into the river earlier without any hesitation. After all, in the entire city, only a few families would be able to pull out such a large amount of money."I'm sorry, old man, but that goes against my principles," Russell's voice came, pulling everyone out of their thoughts. But at the moment, Russell’s voice sounded like a clap of lightning to their ears, and they couldn't help but glance at him rather incredulously. What the heck was the young man thinking? Rejecting fifteen million? If it were not for the guards present, they wanted to rush forward and beat the heck out of him. How dare he reject such an amount?Didn't he know who he was talking to? That was fifteen million. The old man also frowned slightly, observing Russell, who had a gentle smile."I...""If you're thinking about adding to the amount, then you should just discard
Rejected
Russell whistled as he walked out of the company, feeling rather elated. Finally, he had gotten what he wanted. The next thing was to check out the Twin Tower. As for his father and the rest, he would find time for them later. It was time to sort out things."Isn't there anyone who knows how to swim here?" A loud yell came, pulling Russell back to his senses as he walked down the street away from the building."Someone please help, or he would drown!" The voice yelled again, and Russell turned in the direction of the voice. At the other side of the road, a crowd was gathered, pointing and watching something.A young woman stood at the center of the crowd, yelling, asking if there was anyone who knew how to swim.Seeing this, Russell frowned slightly and moved closer to the crowd. Getting there, he froze at the sight before him.Just right beneath was a flowing river. Splashes were seen; a small figure struggled to swim but to no avail. At a glance, one could tell the figure couldn't s

Hearing this, all the employees quickly rushed back to their work while Gordon, Marcus, and Ryan rushed out to meet the chairman with their swollen faces."Chairman!"Gordon crawled forward, his voice filled with helplessness and sorrow."Please punish him, sir; he attacked me and my colleagues while we were trying to query him on why he was absent the days before."Ryan and Marcus nodded, their swollen faces and the guards lying on the floor were evidence of their words. The entire floor was in chaos. Employees whispered among themselves, their gazes flickering between Russell and Jacob. At the moment, Jacob's face was as dark as coal, his gaze landing on Russell."Russell," Jacob called, his voice cold and low."What exactly do you think you’re doing?" He roared, pointing at Russell, his body shaking.Russell raised his head lazily, meeting his father's gaze. But then, he couldn't be too bothered to care about his father.Standing behind Jacob was Anna and Ethan, both glaring at Rus
