"Father... be careful..." The little girl's face turned pale as the elite warriors charged forward.
Their swords flashed and murderous intent filled the courtyard.
Her tiny fingers instinctively grabbed Kael's sleeve.
Kael looked down.
He couldn’t explain how he felt but seeing her frightened eyes and her trembling hands that clung to him.
He gently patted her head. "It's alright." His voice was calm.
The little girl blinked. Somehow, her fear vanished.
It was as if nothing in the world could hurt her as long as this man stood beside her.
The lead warrior roared. “Surrender or be cut down!"
But Kael remained unmoved.
“I warned you!” The warrior announced as his first blade descended.
Kael didn't move but the sword stopped inches from his face.
The warrior froze.
He didn’t even notice when Kael hand shot forward and caught the blade, barehanded!
Crack! The weapon shattered.
His eyes widened but before anyone could react, Kael flicked a finger.
Boom! The guard flew backward like a cannonball and his body crashed through three stone pillars before finally stopping.
The guards felt their scalps go numb. What kind of monster was this?
The remaining guards froze. They wanted to back away but it was too late. There were already too close to him.
Kael took a single step forward and the ground exploded beneath his feet.
The next moment he disappeared from their sight.
Thud! Crash!
Bodies shot across the courtyard one after another. Crashing into anything in the way and within a few seconds, the dozen elite gaurds lay sprawled on the ground.
Not one remained standing.
The little girl stared with her mouth open.
Her eyes sparkled. "Father..." She had never seen anyone this strong.
Meanwhile, Amelia's face had turned deathly pale. These were the family's elite warriors.
How could they lose so quickly and in such an embarrassing manner? How could he have gotten this strong?
At first glance she guessed he was just a mid tier foundation cultivator at most who had stumbled onto a rare qi gathering cloak.
But this power, even a someone at the peak of foundation core didn’t possess it.
She stumbled backward. "You can't touch me! My father is an elder of the Belmont Clan…"
Kael just stepped forward and his hands shot towards her. Slap!
The sound echoed across the estate. Amelia spun in place before crashing into the ground.
Amelia touched her cheek, disbelief filling her eyes.
She felt her cheek swell and sting. “You actually dared hit me?” She screamed.
Kael stood above her.
"That was for calling my daughter a dog." He said in an icy tone.
“Now you have done it. You won’t leave this place alive!” She slowly stepped back. She threatened. but Kael just raised his hand and struck her cheek again.
Slap!
Blood sprayed from her mouth. "This was humiliating my daughter." He ruthlessly slapped her again and again, each slap landed harder than the last.
Amelia's screams echoed through the courtyard. The little girl watched everything in shock. Nobody had ever stood up for her before.
Meanwhile, Amelia had completely broken down and her face quickly became unrecognizable.
"Stop please! Please I beg you!" She collapsed to her knees.
"Please stop!" Amelia's lips trembled. Her voice cracked.
Kael hand paused mid air to hear what she was going to say but then a vicious look suddenly appeared in her eyes.
“If you touch me again, you’ll wish for death.” She bellowed at him but his hand came down again slapping her across the face, this time she crashed into a flower vase.
Her eyes glazed over. No matter what she did she couldn’t even see the path of his hand.
Was he a golden core cultivator? She wondered.
She doubted it.
The foundation core had twelve stages and she herself was at stuck level 10 for years. Amelia immediately circulated her spiritual sense.
A foundation Core cultivator could usually judge another person in the late foundation real and early golden core realm with a glance and even if the opponent concealed themselves, traces of their qi would remain.
Yet when her senses touched Kael, they sank into emptiness.
It was as though she were probing an ordinary mortal.
“You have finally done it!” She bellowed as she brought out a talisman, bit her finger and lood splashed her blood on it.
Instantly a crimson formation erupted beneath her feet and the ground trembled.
Rumble!
The surrounding guards that were struggling to stand up instantly turned pale.
"No..."
“Is that not the aura of family’s Guardian Covenant Dragon?”
They all scrambled on their feets as they tried to get away so they wouldn’t become collateral damage.
Amelia laughed hysterically. "You forced me to do this!"
A deafening roar shook the heavens and the sky darkened.
A gigantic shadow descended from the clouds and it’s massive wings blotted out the sun.
Scarlet scales formed out of thin air, spiraling into a dragon with golden eyes.
The Belmont Clan's Guardian Covenant Dragon.
The little girl's face instantly lost all color, the dragon pressure affected her.
She clutched Kael tightly.
Even Amelia regained her confidence. The color drained from her face but a crazed smile spread across her swollen face. This talisman was her ultimate trump card and could crush a mid tier Golden core cultivator in one strike.
She had saved it to only use it in dire situations but she didn’t mind using it to kill, Kael.
"Kill him!" She pointed toward Kael. "Burn him to ashes!" She shrieked
The temperature skyrocketed as the dragon eyes locked onto Kael and it’s mouth opened.
Flames gathered between its fangs.
The little girl buried her face against Kael's chest but Kael remained calm.
His eyes suddenly changed to golden and his pupils narrowed into vertical slits.
An ancient, majestic aura erupted from Kael. The moment the dragon saw those eyes it’s flames was snuffed out.
Its enormous eyes widened and it main body shivered. The dragon's instincts screamed at it. Before it stood the being every covenant dragon was born to obey, the Protector of Midgard, and the Alpha to all covenant dragons within the realm.
The massive dragon lost all hostility and lowered its head submissively bowed its head, not just out of fear but reverence.
Its massive body trembled and the next thing it did stunned everyone.
It slowly knelt before Kael.
Amelia's smile froze.
The guards jaw dropped. What they were expecting was for the dragon to incinerate Kael to dust.
Although this was only a descendant of the true Belmont Clan but it still had the pride and haughtiness of the real dragon, It would never bow to just anyone but here was the dragon, crouching meekly before Kael like a pet.
Kael's voice echoed calmly.
"Where is Lucy?"
The dragon immediately responded in ancient dragon language like a subject before its king.
The beast's answer was short. But Kael's expression darkened instantly.
Amelia stared in horror.
"No…No, that's impossible..."
Only two people could override a covenant bond.
The Clan Leader who had a covenant bond with the grand ancestor of her dragon or the Protector of Midgard.
“...the protector of midgard,” She repeated the words.
Her legs gave out and she collapsed onto the ground.
Cold sweat drenched her body as she suddenly realized something. “Could it be…”
"Please!" She crawled forward desperately. "I'll tell you everything! I'll tell you where she is!"
"Too late." Kael shook his head.
"I'll—" She tried to beg for her life
Kael raised a hand and Amelia collapsed unconscious.
Kael turned toward his daughter and the coldness in his eyes softened slightly.
Then he bent down and lifted her into his arms. The little girl immediately wrapped her arms around his neck.
The dragon lowered itself even further like a mount welcoming its master.
Kael stepped onto the dragon's back with her and a moment later, it spread it wings.
ROOOOAR!
The dragon shot into the sky. The wind howled and the clouds scattered.
The little girl stared down at the shrinking estate and up at the man holding her with awe.
“Dad is so cool…” She whispered.
The dragon flew toward the colosseum of Valoria at breaknecking speed. The Valoria kingdom which was Kael’s homeland was at the outskirts of the Hamshire, that was where Lucy was.
Kael looked toward the distant horizon. A terrifying killing intent flashed through his eyes.
“Hold on. I'm coming, Lucy.”
