The dangerous thing about pulling a thread on a corporate empire is discovering the ancient monsters holding the other end.

While Bradley and Chloe were drowning in the terrifying depths of the industrial slums, Leo Walker was sitting comfortably in a high-backed leather chair inside the secret subterranean archive of the Sovereign Group. The massive underground room was brightly illuminated by ancient stone torches that burned with a strange, deep blue flame that required absolutely no oil or fuel to sustain itself. The blue light cast long, dancing shadows across the rows of steel shelves and historic volumes that protected the true history of the world.

Master Vance stood quietly by his side, carefully presenting an ancient leather-bound scroll written in a complex language that had been dead for thousands of years. The material was brittle, cracking slightly under the old man's steady fingers as he unrolled it across the heavy wooden presentation table.

"Young Master," Vance explained, pointing a wrinkled finger at the fading symbols on the parchment. "Now that your sacred bloodline has fully awakened, you must understand that our family’s true power does not lie in the massive commercial banks we control. That financial wealth is merely a basic tool to manipulate the mortal world. Our true purpose is to guard the Shadow Gate, which is the source of the ancient energy that flows beneath this entire continent."

Leo ran his fingers over the glowing dragon crest on his awakened ring. As he did, the blue flames in the large room flickered wildly, bending toward his physical body as if acknowledging their true master. He felt a deep connection to the stone walls around him, a physical sensation that made the hair on his arms stand up.

"I can feel it, Vance," Leo said, his voice dropping an octave as his eyes reflected the dark blue fire. "Every single time I breathe, I can feel the energy moving through the dark earth. But it feels turbulent tonight, like someone else out there is trying to pull from the exact same source."

Vance’s expression turned incredibly grim, his posture stiffening as he tightly closed the scroll. "Your intuition is entirely correct, Young Master. When your parents were wrongfully exiled twenty-five years ago by the internal corporate traitors, a rival syndicate immediately arose in the capital city. They call themselves the Crimson Lotus Council. They practice corrupted versions of our ancient arts, using terrible blood sacrifices and illegal corporate human testing to force awaken their own bloodlines."

"Are they connected to Bradley Sterling?" Leo asked, his eyes narrowing into sharp slits as he leaned forward in the leather chair.

"Directly," Vance nodded, his face hardening as he placed the scroll back into its protective case. "Bradley Sterling’s rapid rise from a simple merchant to a billionaire was not an accident at all. The Crimson Lotus Council funded his early moves. In return, Bradley’s logistics company was being used to secretly transport illegal mystical artifacts and human test subjects across the national borders without any customs inspection. By seizing Sterling Enterprises, you have inadvertently cut off the primary supply line of the Crimson Lotus Council."

Leo let out a cold, low laugh that echoed off the stone walls, the sound bouncing around the dark room. "So, my former boss was just a common dog for a much bigger master. That makes things far more interesting for us."

"It does, sir," Vance agreed, stepping back into the shadows of the table. "But it also makes you their primary target. They will not let their global logistics network drop offline without a violent response."

"Let them come," Leo said, his grip tightening on the chair arms until the old leather groaned. "I want to see what their corrupted arts can do against the true inheritance. They think they can control the shadow, but they only play in the dark."

"We must not underestimate their numbers, Young Master," Vance warned gently, his old eyes showing a flash of genuine concern. "They are ruthless when their operations are threatened. They have private armies and dark sorcerers who have killed for far less."

"I have the strength of my ancestors in my veins, Vance," Leo replied, standing up slowly from his seat. "I am no longer the clerk who trembled in that bedroom."

"I know, sir," Vance said with a small bow. "But caution is the shield of royalty."

Suddenly, the heavy iron doors of the subterranean archive opened with a loud groan that cut through the silence. An elite scout from the Sovereign Group rushed into the room, his clothes covered in dirt and his chest heaving as he kneeled quickly on the stone floor before Leo.

"Report," Leo commanded, his voice sharp and leaving no room for hesitation.

"Young Master, we have a major situation developing in Sector 4," the scout said quickly, gasping for breath as he kept his eyes on the floorboards. "The Crimson Lotus Council has realized that Sterling Enterprises has fallen into our hands. They just sent an elite enforcement squad to the industrial slums to extract Bradley Sterling. They want to eliminate him completely before he can be interrogated by our authorities regarding their hidden smuggling routes."

Leo stood up straight, the dark shadow beneath his feet suddenly expanding and crawling up his legs like liquid armor, his eyes flashing with a dangerous light. "Vance, prepare the heavy strike team."

"No need, Young Master," Vance said, stepping forward to block his path slightly, his face confident. "I can handle a minor extraction squad myself with our local district guards. There is no need for you to risk yourself in the slums."

"No," Leo said, his voice echoing with a terrifying weight that made the solid stone walls vibrate around them, silencing any further argument. "Bradley Sterling belongs entirely to me. If anyone tries to take him away before I am completely finished with him, I will tear them apart myself. We move to Sector 4 right now."

"The tactical vehicles are ready downstairs in the tunnel, sir," the scout said, standing up quickly and pointing toward the rear exit. "We can reach the tenement building in less than ten minutes if we use the underground access routes."

"Tell the drivers to clear the paths and override the city traffic lights," Leo ordered, walking past the scout toward the heavy iron exit. "Vance, bring the dampening cuffs. If we encounter their enforcers, I want them alive for questioning. I want to know who commands the Crimson Lotus Council."

"Understood, Young Master," Vance said, following closely behind as he pulled a pair of heavy silver cuffs from a side cabinet. "I will ensure the perimeter of the tenement is entirely locked down by our snipers before our main vehicle arrives on the scene."

"Bradley thinks he knows what fear is because of some local loan sharks," Leo muttered as they reached the elevator doors at the end of the stone corridor. "He has absolutely no idea what is coming for him tonight."

"He will learn the true meaning of terror, sir," Vance said, pressing the ground-floor button.

The elevator doors slid open with a sharp click, revealing a row of twelve armed men standing at absolute attention, their black armor reflecting the dim lights of the corridor. They were ready for open war. Leo stepped inside without a single trace of fear, the crimson aura in his eyes glowing brighter in the darkness as the machine began to ascend rapidly toward the surface.
