The sky does not bleed water when the true masters of the dark go to war, it bleeds absolute terror.

The heavy rain poured down violently on Sector 4, turning the dirty streets into deep rivers of thick black mud. The broken streetlights along the sidewalk flickered weakly against the heavy downpour, casting long, eerie shadows across the decaying neighborhood.

Inside the pitch black space of Room 302, Bradley and Chloe were huddled together tightly in the far corner of the dark, the building's electricity having been cut off completely hours ago due to non-payment. Every single creak and groan from the narrow hallway outside made them jump in fear, their minds entirely terrified that the loan sharks had returned early to claim their physical fingers.

"Bradley, I hear something outside the door," Chloe whispered, her body shaking so violently that her teeth chattered in the dark. "Please tell me they are not back."

"Keep your mouth shut, Chloe," Bradley hissed back in a desperate, ragged tone, gripping his knees tightly to his chest. "If we do not make a sound, they might think the room is completely empty."

"We cannot stay here forever," she whimpered, tears streaming down her pale cheeks. "We are going to die in this room."

"I told you to be quiet!" Bradley snarled under his breath, his eyes wide as he stared at the shadows.

Suddenly, the deafening sound of thick glass shattering echoed violently from the single window.

Bradley jumped up instantly as three large figures clad in dark red tactical gear crashed heavily through the frame, sharp glass raining down across the wooden floorboards. They held long, silenced automatic weapons in their hands and wore smooth plastic masks depicting a stylized red lotus flower.

"Are you Bradley Sterling?" the lead operative asked, his deep voice heavily distorted by an electronic vocal modulator hidden inside his mask.

"Yes! Yes, I am him!" Bradley shouted out, holding his trembling hands high in the air as he scrambled backward. "Did the Council send you to rescue us? Did Mr. Vance send you here? Please, you have to tell them that I didn't say a single thing to Leo! I kept all of the secret smuggling routes completely hidden from the authorities!"

"Quiet," the lead operative barked out coldly, stepping over the broken glass, grabbing Bradley roughly by his bare arm, and dragging him toward the open window frame. "The Crimson Lotus Council does not tolerate public failures, Bradley. You completely lost our entire logistics network to an outsider. Your official orders are to be liquidated immediately to protect the absolute secrecy of the organization."

Chloe screamed at the top of her lungs, scrambling deep into the far corner of the small room until her back hit the peeling wallpaper. "No! Please do not do this! I do not know a single thing about any secret council! Please just let me go! I will never speak of this to anyone!"

The second operative slowly raised his heavy, silenced pistol, pointing the cold metal barrel directly at Chloe’s forehead without a trace of hesitation. "Eliminate the witness right now."

"No, please!" Bradley begged, falling to his knees on the glass. "Do not kill her!"

"She is a liability," the operative stated flatly, tightening his finger on the trigger.

Before the shooter could pull the mechanism, the entire room fell into an absolute, completely unnatural darkness. The faint, grey light coming from the streetlamps outside vanished from view entirely. The air pressure in the room dropped so violently and suddenly that the sharp glass shards on the floorboards began to vibrate loudly and float up into the empty air.

"What on earth is happening to the room?" the lead operative shouted out, his voice losing its mechanical calm as he tried hard to activate his digital night-vision visor. "My display is broken! The screen shows nothing but pure static!"

"I cannot see my own hands!" the second operative yelled, spinning around wildly in the dark.

From the deep shadows in the far corner of the small room, two glowing crimson eyes slowly opened, burning like hot coals in the dark.

"You are operating in my city," a cold, deep voice echoed from every single direction at once, vibrating the very floorboards beneath their feet. "And you forgot to ask for my personal permission."

Leo Walker stepped firmly out from the absolute darkness. He didn't wear an expensive business suit this time. Instead, he wore a simple, heavy black coat that seemed to physically absorb the faint light around it like a void. His right hand pulsed with a dark, violent kinetic energy that crackled loudly like black lightning between his fingers.

"It’s him!" Bradley screamed at the top of his lungs, crawling backward on his hands and knees until his spine hit the rusty iron bed frame. "It’s Leo! He has come to kill us all!"

"Open fire on the target!" the lead operative yelled to his squad.

The three tactical operatives unleashed a massive hail of automatic gunfire directly into the dark center of the room. The bright muzzle flashes illuminated the space in rapid, blinding bursts of yellow light, but the lead bullets never reached Leo's body. An invisible, swirling shield of pure shadow energy formed instantly in front of him, catching the speeding bullets in mid-air and dropping them harmlessly to the wooden floorboards like tiny pebbles.

"How is he doing that?" the third operative screamed, his weapon clicking as it emptied its magazine. "He is blocking the rounds!"

Leo moved. To normal human eyes, he simply vanished from his spot entirely.

A split second later, he appeared directly in front of the second operative. With a single, fluid strike of his arm, Leo thrust his open palm into the center of the man’s chest armor. The sheer kinetic force backed by his ancient bloodline energy exploded outward with a loud boom, launching the heavy operative completely through the solid brick wall of the building, sending his body crashing down into the dark alleyway three stories below.

The remaining two red-masked operatives panicked instantly, dropping their heavy firearms and pulling out high-frequency combat knives that glowed with a corrupted red light. They lunged at Leo simultaneously from both sides, aiming for his neck.

Leo didn't even bother to look at them. He extended both of his hands with lightning speed, catching their thick wrists with absolute ease in mid-air. He squeezed his fingers together. The sickening sound of bones shattering instantly filled the quiet room, accompanied by agonizing, high-pitched screams from the two operatives.

"Who exactly sent you to this building?" Leo asked, his voice completely calm as his glowing crimson eyes stared directly into the lead operative’s plastic mask.

"The Crimson... Lotus... will destroy you," the lead operative gasped out through the intense, blinding pain in his wrists. "You are nothing but a ghost... of a long-dead family."

"Then you make sure to tell your masters," Leo whispered into his ear, his grip tightening even further until the massive operative fell down to his knees on the floorboards. "The ghost is incredibly hungry. And I am coming for the capital city next."

With a sudden, powerful flick of his wrists, Leo threw the two unconscious operatives cleanly out the shattered window frame, where Master Vance’s specialized cleanup crew was already waiting patiently in the dark alleyway below to collect them.

Leo turned around slowly, his long black coat billowing slightly as he looked down at Bradley and Chloe, who were shaking so violently against the wall that they could barely breathe. The tiny room was completely silent now, except for the heavy sound of the pouring rain outside the broken window.

"Are you going to kill us now, Leo?" Chloe sobbed, burying her face in her knees as she rocked back and forth. "Please, we have nothing left."

Leo looked at her for a long moment, the crimson glow in his eyes fading slightly into the dark. "Death is a release, Chloe. And as I told you before, your punishment has barely even begun."

"What do you want from us?" Bradley whimpered, his voice broken as he looked up from the floor. "You took my company, you took my money, and now these monsters are hunting me."

"I want you to live in this room, Bradley," Leo said, his voice cold and flat as ice. "I want you to feel the fear of every single person you stepped on to build your wealth. Every time a door knocks, I want you to wonder if it is the Crimson Lotus Council coming to end your life, or if it is me."

"You are a monster," Bradley whispered, a tear cutting through the dirt on his face.

"I am exactly what you made me," Leo replied, turning his back to the window. "Vance will ensure the loan sharks do not take your fingers, Bradley. I need you completely intact for the next phase of your lesson."

Without another word, Leo stepped backward into the deep shadows of the room, vanishing completely from sight before their eyes. The oppressive darkness lifted from the space, leaving Bradley and Chloe alone in the freezing rain that continued to blow through the shattered window frame.
