The dead do not stay buried when they own the bank that holds your life.
The Grand Ballroom of the Imperial Hotel was a sea of glittering diamonds, expensive tuxedos, and flowing vintage champagne. Bradley Sterling had spent an absolute fortune setting up this specific corporate gala to celebrate his upcoming multi-million-dollar logistics merger. However, the heavy atmosphere in the room tonight was thick with deep anxiety instead of happy celebration. The entire business elite of the financial district had gathered under the bright lights, but no one was talking about the merger. Instead, they were all whispering about the mysterious majority shareholder who had completely seized control of Sterling Enterprises overnight.
Bradley stood near the edge of the main stage, his tight tailored suit feeling unusually restrictive as sweat began to form on his collar. His face was a stiff mask of forced confidence, but his eyes darted anxiously toward the main entrance every time the heavy wooden doors clicked open. Chloe stood directly beside him, dressed in a glittering gown and draped in a heavy diamond necklace that Bradley had bought her just an hour ago to calm her visible nerves.
"Bradley, who could this possibly be?" Chloe whispered, her manicured fingers digging into his forearm with a grip tight enough to leave deep bruises. "Could it be a rival billionaire conglomerate from the capital city? Did someone betray us on the board?"
"Don't worry about it," Bradley hissed back, keeping his smile fixed for the nearby photographers even though his own heart was racing like a engine. "Money is money at the end of the day. Whoever bought those floating shares just wants a quick return on their investment. I am still the original founder and the public CEO of this company. They cannot just remove me from my position without a massive, exhausting legal battle that would drag out for years. I will simply offer them a seat on the board tomorrow morning and handle it behind closed doors."
"Are you absolutely sure you can handle them?" Chloe asked, her voice trembling slightly as she took a fast sip of champagne. "The rumors downstairs say this holding company has infinite resources."
"I have handled worse Wall Street sharks than this, Chloe," Bradley replied coldly, checking his gold watch. "Every human being has a price. Once they see our quarterly projections, they will realize I am the only man who can run this empire."
"I hope you are right," Chloe murmured, looking around the room. "The guests are starting to stare at us. They smell blood in the water."
"Let them stare," Bradley muttered through his teeth. "They will be toast tomorrow when the contracts are finalized."
At exactly eight o'clock, the live classical orchestra suddenly stopped playing in mid-verse. The huge room fell into an uneasy, absolute silence. The hundreds of wealthy investors and socialites stopped their conversations instantly, turning their heads toward the grand entryway.
The heavy, gilded double doors of the grand ballroom were pushed open by two towering security guards clad in black tactical suits. A cold, incredibly heavy atmospheric pressure seemed to roll into the room from the hallway, causing the physical temperature under the crystal chandeliers to drop noticeably.
A man stepped firmly through the threshold.
He wore a custom bespoke charcoal suit that perfectly accentuated his broad shoulders, straight back, and commanding posture. His dark hair was styled flawlessly, and his physical presence was so immense that it effortlessly commanded the absolute attention of every single person in the room. Flanking his left side was Master Vance, along with six elite, silent bodyguards who moved in perfect military formation.
Bradley squinted his eyes, trying hard to place the familiar face. The man looked incredibly like someone he had met before, but the proud posture, the sheer aura of extreme wealth, and the terrifying, calm confidence did not match any low-level worker he remembered.
"Who is that?" Chloe asked, her voice dropping into a low murmur as the man walked closer into the direct light of the crystal chandeliers. "Bradley, look at his face."
Suddenly, Chloe’s breath caught completely in her throat. Her glass of expensive champagne slipped cleanly from her numb fingers, crashing loudly against the white marble floor. The crystal shattered into tiny pieces, splattering alcohol across the silk fabric of her expensive gown. She couldn't speak another full word. Her eyes bulged out in absolute, primal horror as she stared directly at the face of the man walking toward the stage.
"L... Leo?" Chloe gasped, her voice reducing to a fragile, terrified squeak that barely left her mouth. "No. It cannot be."
Bradley froze entirely, his entire body turning to solid ice. He stared directly at Leo’s face, his logical mind violently rejecting what his eyes were seeing. His hands began to shake against his sides. "No. That is mathematically impossible. Leo is dead. I personally..."
Bradley cut himself off instantly before he could finish the dangerous sentence in front of the listening crowd, but his mind was spinning in absolute, chaotic madness. He had watched Leo’s pulse stop in that bedroom. He had watched his trusted evening cleanup men dump the heavy body into the deep sea currents. There was no possible human way a common salaryman could survive that drop.
Leo stopped exactly five paces away from the edge of the stage. He looked down briefly at the shattered glass and spilled champagne by Chloe’s feet, then slowly raised his sharp gaze to meet theirs. His eyes were cold, incredibly sharp, and entirely devoid of the gentle warmth he once possessed when he worked at his desk.
"Good evening, Mr. Sterling. Good evening, Chloe," Leo said, his voice smooth, deep, and carrying effortlessly across the completely silent ballroom. It was a voice that commanded the entire space without even shouting. "It seems you both look like you have just seen a ghost."
"You... you are supposed to be gone," Chloe whimpered, stepping back behind Bradley's shoulder to hide herself. "This is a dream. This is not real."
"I am very much real, Chloe," Leo said, a faint, terrifying smile appearing on his lips. "And I believe we have some urgent corporate business to discuss regarding the future of this company."
"How are you standing here?" Bradley finally managed to growl out, his face turning from pale white to an ugly, angry red as he tried to regain his footing in front of his peers. "What kind of game is this?"
"This is not a game, Mr. Sterling," Master Vance spoke up from Leo's side, his voice ringing with absolute authority. "This is a formal takeover."

He looked down at his crying ex-wife and his broken former boss with an expression of pure, completely detached indifference. The room was deathly quiet now, save for the heavy sound of the storm outside.Bradley was hyperventilating loudly, his bloody hands clawing desperately at the dirty floorboards as he tried to pull himself backward. "Leo... please listen to me. I will give you absolutely everything I have left. I have a secret offshore bank account hidden away in Switzerland, fifty million dollars in cash that the federal court auditors completely missed during the initial raid. It’s yours. Every single cent of it is yours, Leo. Just let me leave the country tonight. I will never come back to this c
The Extraction
The sky does not bleed water when the true masters of the dark go to war, it bleeds absolute terror. The heavy rain poured down violently on Sector 4, turning the dirty streets into deep rivers of thick black mud. The broken streetlights along the sidewalk flickered weakly against the heavy downpour, casting long, eerie shadows across the decaying neighborhood.Inside the pitch black space of Room 302, Bradley and Chloe were huddled together tightly in the far corner of the dark, the building's electricity having been cut off completely hours ago due to non-payment. Every single creak and groan from the narrow hallway outside made them jump in fear, their minds entirely terrified that the loan sharks had returned early to claim their physical fingers."Bradley, I hear something outside the door," Chloe whispered, her body shaking so violently that her teeth chattered in the dark. "Please tell me they are not back.""Keep your mouth shut, Chloe," Bradley hissed back in a desperate, rag
The Shadow's Edge
The dangerous thing about pulling a thread on a corporate empire is discovering the ancient monsters holding the other end. While Bradley and Chloe were drowning in the terrifying depths of the industrial slums, Leo Walker was sitting comfortably in a high-backed leather chair inside the secret subterranean archive of the Sovereign Group. The blue light cast long, dancing shadows across the rows of steel shelves and historic volumes that protected the true history of the world.Master Vance stood quietly by his side, carefully presenting an ancient leather-bound scroll written in a complex language that had been dead for thousands of years. The material was brittle, cracking slightly under the old man's steady fingers as he unrolled it across the heavy wooden presentation table."Young Master," Vance expla
The Lower Depths
You only realize how many monsters you created on your way up when they are waiting for you at the bottom. The industrial slums of Sector 4 were always covered in a thick, choking layer of grey smog that drifted constantly from the nearby chemical processing plants. The air itself felt heavy and metallic, leaving a bitter taste on the tongue.A rusty yellow taxi pulled up slowly to the cracked curb of a crumbling, six story brick tenement building. Bradley and Chloe stepped out of the vehicle together, each carrying a single cheap plastic suitcase that contained the very few clothes the federal court auditors had allowed them to keep from their villa.Chloe looked up at the shattered glass windows and the rusty, twisted fire escapes clinging to the brick wall, her stomach turning over in absolute disgust. Bradley demanded loudly, struggling hard to locate his regular, booming voice, though it trembled visibly at the edges.
