She rolled her eyes and placed a hand on her hip, kissing her teeth before looking at Conrad condescendingly.

No one talked for a moment and no one moved, until the girl broke the silence.

“Conrad?” The old man asked.

“This is your boyfriend?” The older man queried Laura, looking Conrad up and down with beady eyes.

“Yeah. Can you give us a sec babe?”

That seemed to draw Conrad from his shock. How could she be calling another man babe when he was standing right in front of her?

“Babe?” Conrad whispered, a part of him still not believing what he was witnessing.

The man walked away. Conrad didn't know if he was shocked or angry.

“What are you doing here, Conrad?” The girl asked.

“What…what am I doing here? I should be the one asking you that Laura. What the hell are you doing here? You told me you had to work?” Conrad shouted.

“I did have work. Here at the hotel.” Laura snapped at him.

“So you pushed our plans to have sex with your boss?” Conrad asked, his face a mask of disbelief.

“What, did you think I was seriously dating you? Come on Conrad, even you can't be that dumb.” Laura replied.

Conrad stumbled back on weak, numb legs.

“What are you doing here? Couldn't you have waited for us to leave before you brought your stupid cart? This is an invasion of our privacy.”

“I'm your freaking boyfriend, Laura. You should be sorry, you don't have the right to shout at me.” Conrad hurled the words at her.

“Oh shut up. You impoverished bastard. Who would see a Lamborghini and go for a washed-up bicycle? I was never your girlfriend Conrad. You were just too caught up in your imagination to see it.” Laura started.

“And as for me not having the right to scream at you? I can. You are a simple hotel employee, with just one phone call I can have my boyfriend get you fired, and trust me I know you don't want that.” Laura said, crossing her arms together.

“L…Laura, why are you doing this? Why would you do this to me? You know I love you?” Conrad cried.

“Please stop talking. You're making me want to puke. Now take your useless self and your stupid cart out of here.” Laura ordered.

“Laura…. Please don't do this,” he begged.

“What are you still doing here? If you don't leave I'm going to call the security.”

Conrad swallowed heavily. He didn't know what to do, so he decided to call her later. He grabbed his cart and turned to leave.

“Where do you think you're going?” Laura asked.

Conrad turned around, getting hopeful.

“You don't want me to go?”

“You haven't apologized. You barged into this room. You're lucky we haven't reported you to management. The least you can do is apologise and ask for forgiveness.” Laura told him, with a smirk on her face.

Conrad stood stock still. He knew what she was asking him to do. He also knew he didn't have any choice if he loved his job.

He swallowed hard, “I'm sorry for intruding and barging in. It was not intentional and I promise you that it won't happen again.”

“Do I look like a busboy? How do you address your guests in this establishment?” Laura snarked, stepping forward.

“I'm sorry…ma'am. It won't happen again.”

Conrad repeated.

“Oh, spare me that crap!” She threw her hands up in the air stopping him from speaking further.

“I'm sorry once again.” He bowed his head in misery and pain apologizing to her.

“That's good, now ask me for forgiveness,” Laura demanded.

“I already apologized.” Conrad forced out through his ground teeth.

Laura narrowed her eyes at him. “Make sure you're on your knees while you do so.”

Conrad laughed slowly and angrily, knowing there was no way he was going to do that.

“There's no need for that, get out.” Laura's boss said, stepping back inside the room and dismissing him.

He heard Laura's giggles shortly later. His heart was heavy the entire time, he was already planning on introducing her to his mother.

Today had turned out to be the worst day of his life. On freaking Valentine's Day.

He dropped the cart in the cleaning room and hurriedly left.

He got on the first bus he saw not even caring where it was headed.

He never expected this from Laura. She was his first serious girlfriend, and he loved her. He knew he was getting odd looks because of his heavy breaths.

His phone started ringing. It was probably his boss calling to tell him he was fired.

It was a private number.

Conrad frowned, was it one of those marketers? He thought.

“Hello.” He said as picked up the call.

“Hello, am I speaking to Conrad?” A voice asked over the phone.

“Uh.. yes, this is him.” He replied. Marketers didn't normally know his name, so who was it calling him?

“Young master. This is William. Your late father's secretary. We have been searching for you for a long time. Your father left you an inheritance young master. We need you to come and claim it, sir.” The voice said.

Conrad released an annoyed sigh. “I'm sorry, I think you have the wrong number. My father's dead. Have a good day.” Conrad said with a frown.

The grave voice of a man who sounded super confident in himself, a man with a rich, important life it seemed, continued on the phone. “I have been trying to reach you to give you extremely important information about your father, Young Master, but we haven't been able to get your attention.”

Conrad hissed. “Can’t you find someone else to pull these scams on? My father died a long time ago, and if you're doing this because you think you can get money out of me, then you have found the wrongest target for your tactics today!”

The voice rushed to continue, sensing that Conrad was on the verge of hanging up the call. “I'm not mistaken, Young master. You are the heir to the Crawford Family Fortune, worth over $1,000,000,000,000.”

Sitting beside Xander in his car made me realize that I didn't know the person I was rolling with because if he had opened up to me, that was the reason he desperately needed Conrad's home address. I wouldn't be here feeling guilty for his actions. “Wosh!” Xander released a deep breath of relief as he parked his car carefully at a nearby car park, his hands brushing through his hair in ecstasy turning his eyeballs to look at me, “I'm so glad I was able to do this with your help, Laura.”Raising my eyebrows to give him a terrified look, I scoffed out in displeasure, “Huh?” “Why are you acting so weird, Laura?” His ass adjusted to change his sitting position where his eyes could stare right back into mine, “I noticed that since I parked down here expressing my satisfaction to see that stupid and ungrateful boy who blackmailed you go down you've been acting weird.”Her countenance changed immediately as she tried to keep a straight face so he wouldn't be able to decipher the fear in he

  • Who The Hell Are You?

Her words came like a tidal wave straight into my ears the moment I heard her capitalize on my brokenness. Everything felt as if the little world I created with my hands had crumbled. My feet froze and I couldn't take any step further because there was no way I had spent any minutes discussing my life problems with this unknown lady.“Is this how crystal clear my brokenness has gradually become my identity?” my inner voice crept through my ears while I pondered a bit about it before thinking of the next line of action to take. “I know you weren't expecting someone like me to tell you the truth but I’ll tell you for free Mr.not too flirty.” She paused her words to catch a few breaths. When I thought she was done with her rants and I'd grown a thick skin not to allow any of her words to get to me, she finally threw the last straw of insult to my face. “Your brokenness and poverty have a stench odor coming out from you, Mr. Dumbass.”Every piece of her dismissive words crumbled the l

His phone tripped off before he could even order the Uber.“Fuck! Is this how I want to start this year of my life?” He slammed his phone right into his palm in agitation, “If not because of that ungrateful Secretary I know that I’d have been able to charge my phone to an extent before leaving to embark on this journey.” He muttered to himself assuring that all would end up well with him.His knee slowly grew numb as the coldness of the wind kept on blowing in the air. His hands were suddenly growing cold due to the harshness of the cold. He wasn’t ready to relent in the pursuit of getting the money that’d be enough for him to take care of his mothe

“Are you sure you want us to meet? Are you sure you want to do this, Conrad?” The voice behind the phone questioned him repeatedly as he was fully in doubt about Conrad’s sudden decision.Conrad sniffed in some air with his nostrils, inhaling and exhaling simultaneously while he thought about the question that was being asked to him. He knew he was sounding desperate but he wasn’t bothered at all for all he had in mind was to get his mother out of that awful state she found herself in.“Well, I guess your silence says it all Mr. Conrad. Whenever you are ready to take the bull by the horn then you can give us your say.”“I’m ready!” he yelled out loud in anger and frustration, not realizing that he was yelling, "I’m sorry if my voice triggered you in any way, but what I’m trying to let you know is that I’m ready to take the bull by the horns. You can send in the location, and in thirty minutes, you’ll see me right there.”The caller behind the phone heaved a deep sigh of relief as he h

  • A Deposit Of $40,000

“Conrad, why are you bringing up your father's name into our harmless conversation?” His mother drifted away from him, staring into his eyes in amusement. “Mother, I want you to answer the damn question and stop acting all weird to me.” “Conrad, I think I'd leave you here all alone and go back to whatever I was doing in the kitchen before you showed up.”He stood up from the couch where he laid and pulled his mother from her arms, “Mother, I need an answer right away. You can't keep shoving off this question anytime I ask you.”“What more do you want me to say, Conrad? I don't have anything else to tell you. Now, can you take your hands off me? You are hurting me.” She beckoned on him calmly. Conrad still felt unsatisfied with his mother's responses. He was getting sick and tired of his mother avoiding conversation that requires his father's name in there. All efforts to force her speak the truth that she has been hoarding in her heart for far too long were not futile. “Mother, if

  • Payback Time!

Laura placed her hands softly on her gentleman's chest as they both lay on the bed but from the silence she was receiving from his end, she knew someone wasn't right. “Why are you acting so cold all of a sudden?” She dragged herself up to the bed pulling the duvet up to her chest. The young man rolled himself over to the other edge of the bed without saying anything to her. The only thing he was feeding her as a response was the inhaling and exhaling of his breath. “Please don't give me this cold response, Peter. If you want to keep acting cold towards me then I might as well get myself out of this bed and use the door.” He chuckled out loud mockingly, “You want to use the door so you can go back to your babe, right?”“Hell no! Peter, how dare you belittle me in such a manner?” she dragged the duvet that was on her chest and sprang to her feet. “Spare me those cock and bull stories, Laura. What do you take me for? Huh?” He clenched his fist so tight holding back himself from goin
