“Are you sure you want us to meet? Are you sure you want to do this, Conrad?” The voice behind the phone questioned him repeatedly as he was fully in doubt about Conrad’s sudden decision.
Conrad sniffed in some air with his nostrils, inhaling and exhaling simultaneously while he thought about the question that was being asked to him. He knew he was sounding desperate but he wasn’t bothered at all for all he had in mind was to get his mother out of that awful state she found herself in.
“Well, I guess your silence says it all Mr. Conrad. Whenever you are ready to take the bull by the horn then you can give us your say.”
“I’m ready!” he yelled out loud in anger and frustration, not realizing that he was yelling, "I’m sorry if my voice triggered you in any way, but what I’m trying to let you know is that I’m ready to take the bull by the horns. You can send in the location, and in thirty minutes, you’ll see me right there.”
The caller behind the phone heaved a deep sigh of relief as he heard everything that Conrad said to him, “Since you’ve already made up your mind then I have nothing to say than to grant you your request.”
“Thank you very much.” his hands began shaking as he assured him with a response.
He wasn’t sure if he was ready to step into the next level not after hearing about the large amount of money that was tagged to his name the first time he got a call from them. At the same time, he was still having this little benefit of the doubt about everything if they were all playing a prank on him of which he wasn’t ready to go through that dead lane with them.
“Check your Dm, Sir Conrad!.” his tone of voice that erupted through the phone was a little bit commanding.
Conrad didn’t hesitate to succumb to his command as his hands ran through all the text messages he had on his phone until his eyes finally met with the recent text messages that he got from the unknown number, “Is this the location?”
“Yes, Conrad! Be there in an hour.” he hung up the call immediately after answering all his questions.
“An hour? Will I be able to meet up?” He murmured to himself as his eyes were fully focused on the wall clock hanging so bold at the receptionist's office.
He rushed to the secretary’s desk in haste, his heart panting so loud and fast under his breath, “Please, can you help me beg the doctor that he should commence the treatment on my mother while I go search for the funds to pay for her treatment?”
The secretary who was busy masticating her gum ignored his pleas and paid no attention to his constant begging threw her face to the other side of other patients who queed on the line for her to attend to them.
“Did you hear what I asked you to do for me?” he asked her one more time in a subtle voice.
“I’m not deaf Mr. Brokie!” She brushed her hands through her hair eyeing him from his head down to his toes, “If you don’t have the money right now with you then it’s pointless talking to you.”
“Excuse you?” raising his eyebrow with so much shock and amusement, “Is that how you guys operate in here?”
She turned her face backwards checking if anyone was standing behind her that his question was being directed to. When she realized that there was no one standing behind her she chuckled out loud, “I don’t think you are talking to me in such a manner.”
“Aren’t you the secretary of this hospital? Why are you treating me like a piece of shit?” He slowly squeezed the paper that was placed on her desk angrily his eyes gradually turning red.
“How best do you expect me to treat a piece of trash like you cos that’s exactly who the hell you are, Mister. If you don’t want me to speak to you in such a manner then make use of the door.”
“Really?” Small tears quietly dripped down from his eyes as he began sobbing, “Is this how you guys operate in here? Is this how you go ahead treating low class?” he took in a quick deep pause calming his nerves down a little bit before he continued, “Is it because I don’t have money hence the reason for the disrespect?”
“Enough of the pity card Mister crybaby!” One of the patient who was staying in the queue raised his voice from behind shunning him up, ‘If you don’t have the money then go out there and hustle for it rather than disturbing us with your pity story.”
“Thank you for lending your voice, Sir.” The secretary acknowledges him with a warm smile playing across her lips.
“Mister crybaby you’ve heard what your fellow man has to say to you, so I think it is best you save yourself the embarrassment and use the door.” she scanned him from his head down to the dusty slippers he had on, shaking her head off in dismay.
“I swear on my mother’s body that if anything happens to her and she ends up dying I’ll come for you with everything in me.” He threatened her slamming his fist angrily on the desk before heading towards the exit door.
“You can’t do anything to me Mister crybaby and if anything eventually ends up happening to your hopeless and sick mother just have it at the back of your mind that you are the cause because of your brokenness.” She shouted back at him without considering the harshness of her voice.
Conrad grabbed the door angrily, flung it wide open and responded back to her, “You’ll hear from me soon, Miss secretary.” He dropped his two cents and slammed the door angrily from behind.

Sitting beside Xander in his car made me realize that I didn't know the person I was rolling with because if he had opened up to me, that was the reason he desperately needed Conrad's home address. I wouldn't be here feeling guilty for his actions. “Wosh!” Xander released a deep breath of relief as he parked his car carefully at a nearby car park, his hands brushing through his hair in ecstasy turning his eyeballs to look at me, “I'm so glad I was able to do this with your help, Laura.”Raising my eyebrows to give him a terrified look, I scoffed out in displeasure, “Huh?” “Why are you acting so weird, Laura?” His ass adjusted to change his sitting position where his eyes could stare right back into mine, “I noticed that since I parked down here expressing my satisfaction to see that stupid and ungrateful boy who blackmailed you go down you've been acting weird.”Her countenance changed immediately as she tried to keep a straight face so he wouldn't be able to decipher the fear in he

Her words came like a tidal wave straight into my ears the moment I heard her capitalize on my brokenness. Everything felt as if the little world I created with my hands had crumbled. My feet froze and I couldn't take any step further because there was no way I had spent any minutes discussing my life problems with this unknown lady.“Is this how crystal clear my brokenness has gradually become my identity?” my inner voice crept through my ears while I pondered a bit about it before thinking of the next line of action to take. “I know you weren't expecting someone like me to tell you the truth but I’ll tell you for free Mr.not too flirty.” She paused her words to catch a few breaths. When I thought she was done with her rants and I'd grown a thick skin not to allow any of her words to get to me, she finally threw the last straw of insult to my face. “Your brokenness and poverty have a stench odor coming out from you, Mr. Dumbass.”Every piece of her dismissive words crumbled the l

His phone tripped off before he could even order the Uber.“Fuck! Is this how I want to start this year of my life?” He slammed his phone right into his palm in agitation, “If not because of that ungrateful Secretary I know that I’d have been able to charge my phone to an extent before leaving to embark on this journey.” He muttered to himself assuring that all would end up well with him.His knee slowly grew numb as the coldness of the wind kept on blowing in the air. His hands were suddenly growing cold due to the harshness of the cold. He wasn’t ready to relent in the pursuit of getting the money that’d be enough for him to take care of his mothe

“Conrad, why are you bringing up your father's name into our harmless conversation?” His mother drifted away from him, staring into his eyes in amusement. “Mother, I want you to answer the damn question and stop acting all weird to me.” “Conrad, I think I'd leave you here all alone and go back to whatever I was doing in the kitchen before you showed up.”He stood up from the couch where he laid and pulled his mother from her arms, “Mother, I need an answer right away. You can't keep shoving off this question anytime I ask you.”“What more do you want me to say, Conrad? I don't have anything else to tell you. Now, can you take your hands off me? You are hurting me.” She beckoned on him calmly. Conrad still felt unsatisfied with his mother's responses. He was getting sick and tired of his mother avoiding conversation that requires his father's name in there. All efforts to force her speak the truth that she has been hoarding in her heart for far too long were not futile. “Mother, if

Laura placed her hands softly on her gentleman's chest as they both lay on the bed but from the silence she was receiving from his end, she knew someone wasn't right. “Why are you acting so cold all of a sudden?” She dragged herself up to the bed pulling the duvet up to her chest. The young man rolled himself over to the other edge of the bed without saying anything to her. The only thing he was feeding her as a response was the inhaling and exhaling of his breath. “Please don't give me this cold response, Peter. If you want to keep acting cold towards me then I might as well get myself out of this bed and use the door.” He chuckled out loud mockingly, “You want to use the door so you can go back to your babe, right?”“Hell no! Peter, how dare you belittle me in such a manner?” she dragged the duvet that was on her chest and sprang to her feet. “Spare me those cock and bull stories, Laura. What do you take me for? Huh?” He clenched his fist so tight holding back himself from goin
