New Day

Waking up groggily, Corey instinctively looked around and found that he was in the middle of the bed and being hugged by both his big sister and little sister.

They were sleeping above his hand to boot.

'Sigh... My arm will hurt like hell when they move...'

He then looked up and thought of the system screen; it immediately appeared infront of him.

As red and translucent as it was yesterday.

'So it truly was not a dream...' He smiled and put the screen away with a thought.

That thing was his hope.

The screen's setup was very advanced even though it seemed to have some malicious goals. It could be opened and closed with a thought.

He then looked at the two girls sleeping like logs on each of his sides and gently moved his hands to make them fall on his chest.

'Much better.' Now they could sleep comfortably, and his hands wouldn't hurt either.

Even though his hands were hurting much more after they left with their weight.

Of course, Rin didn't weigh much so it was okay, but Theresa was a different matter... She was not fat but she was heavy.

Anyways,

He went back to the important matters at the moment.

As far as he understood, the screen that suddenly appeared infront of him could help him grow stronger.

And hopefully, one day make him as strong as those legendary Filthbloods.

But for that, he needed Blood Energy.

He needed exactly 100 points of Blood Energy to... Hmm, he opened the System again to confirm it.

[Low-Level Blood Clan Physique: has heightened senses and increased instincts towards danger. (100 points of Blood Energy to Evolve)]

So, he needed 100 points to grow stronger and Evolve.

And he can't of course, drink that much blood from Theresa. Rin was not even a question.

Some decimal points worth of Blood Energy might have been insignificant weakening, but that much might just kill his big sis.

He didn't plan to drink even a drop more of Theresa's blood from now.

But if not her, where can I get Blood Energy?

Blood Fruits were out of the question for now, so it was all up to finding blood to drink.

And it had to be human blood since he still remembered what the System said earlier.

[Blood Energy: Essence of life, every intelligent life has a set amount of it in their body, Blood Clan members have a much higher amount of it than others.]

It had given a particular focus on intelligent life, so he was hesitant to try Animal blood without first asking the System if Animal blood was okay.

So the final question was to figure out a way to get human blood that was not Theresa's.

He calmly crossed out one way after the other.

Hospitals were dangerous since most of them had detectors, so he could not buy blood easily. That was one of the limitations of being a Filthblood, you cannot easily visit hospitals.

Not that they needed to, since their bodies are mostly immune to simple diseases.

That was another option crossed.

Then there were the people from the same slums as them.

More than thirty people lived around this big garbage dump, and they could all be considered as energy if used well.

He just had to get their blood.

But they were very wary people, all of them knew that among the thirty, some of them were Filthbloods, and that made all of them wary of each other.

Only the poorest, most miserable bastards and Filthbloods would have to live in this area after all.

So, if he went and asked them for blood, they would be immediately wary of him.

And mainly, he will become the center of attention.

That was nothing good...

As he was thinking and not reaching any good conclusion, Theresa's eyes fluttered open and she looked at Corey's deep-in-thought face.

"You woke up early Corey..." She groggily said.

Corey looked at her and said, "No, I just woke up too..."

Theresa rubbed her eyes and left the bed with a yawn.

Then looked at the sleeping Rin and said, "Don't wake her up, and go brush your teeth."

Corey gently moved Rin and made her sleep well on the bed before leaving the bed. Then he opened an old suitcase from the side and took his brush out.

This suitcase was something that they took while he escaped from the orphanage and that was where they kept all of their belongings.

He took the toothbrush and one of the seven bottles of water inside the case and then moved out of the room with a wave to Theresa.

They were in quite a bad place to live, but they did indeed have most of their basic needs fulfilled since they had their methods to get those.

Theresa shook her head and covered Rin in the old woolen blanket Corey had moved aside.

Then taking her own brush, she also left the place.
