CHAPTER 2: Like a Useless Rag

“VERONICA!” HE SHOUTED her name so loudly that it seemed as if the nerve in the neck would pop out. 

His face is red, he's not thinking straight. His body seems burning with anger. No, he’s in a rage! At that moment, he becomes a ticking bomb that is ready to explode.

He’s heartbroken. He couldn't explain how hurt he was right now. No one can understand the pain that he feels witnessing his girlfriend having an affair. He wanted to convince himself that all of this was just a nightmare and he should wake up from this agony. That all of it is just a lie. But the longer he looked at his girlfriend, the fact hit him harder!

He couldn’t pretend that he was not hurting and not degrading while looking at Veronica who looks like she isn’t in her right mind. Her face was abnormally red and the trace of happiness that was one of his favorite things was gone. He is not stupid enough not to notice she is under the influence of drugs. 

The moment that he saw white liquid dripping from his lover’s lips, he snapped! 

Martin became more furious and without thinking, he broke the bottle of wine that he was keeping safe before. He hit the bottom of it to the cart he was pushing earlier which made a sharp edge to the bottle.

Because of this, the tip of the wine he was holding touched the nearest bottle which caused the others to break too. The pieces of the shattered parts of the wine scattered all over the floor.

“What the fuck, Veronica!” he burst out loud because of rage. “You pretended to be innocent but you're a whore!”

The strong breaking sound of the wines is enough for Veronica to come to her senses and be aware of her surroundings. She tries to find out what is happening after she is startled.

Veronica looked surprised when she saw Martin. She doesn’t know what to do while trying her best to cover her almost naked body as she feels ashamed.

“M-martin—”

“Don’t!” Martin pointed out to the girl that he was head over heels for using the bottle he was holding. “Don’t try to talk back! You don’t have the right to defend yourself. Don't say you accidentally ended up here and bumped into someone’s cock in your mouth—” 

Veronica slapped him so hard that made him not continue what he’s going to say. She also looks not afraid of him.

“I love it! I love his money and yes, I am happy to be his whore!” Veronica admitted angrily too. “But you, I hate you being poor and needy!”

Because of his girlfriend's words, Martin lost himself and all he wanted was to bury the pointed parts of the bottle at Lucas who was still smirking on him. He believes that this is Lucas' fault that Veronica ended up like this.

Martin shouted so loud while rushing in the direction of Lucas!

But before he struck the bottle to the playboy’s body, the two bodyguards quickly pulled Martin away from Lucas who seemed to be just watching earlier from the commotion.

He doesn't know if he is thankful to the bodyguards that they stopped him or not because he could not think anything at that moment but to bleed Lucas badly. He wanted him to scream in pain too the moment the bottle sank into his body.

The men in black forcefully took the bottle from his hand which caused Martin to feel excruciating pain in his hands. 

“Stupido! Why are you so fucking slow! I didn’t pay you enough if I ended up in the hospital later on!” Lucas screamed which made his face turn red. “Hold that douchebag properly!”

From time to time, Lucas screams so loud whenever he’s content with the kick and punch that he’s throwing at Martin. On the other hand, Martin couldn’t do anything to depend on himself but growled in pain because the two were holding him tightly. He tries his best to be free from them but it’s useless! He doesn’t have the strength to do so.

“Have you learned your lesson?” Lucas asks him with a serious face after pulling his hair to lift his head.

Martin just replied with a smirk on his face. This is all he can do now rather than looking even more miserable. The truth is, what’s more hurt for him is the betrayal of his girlfriend which he's looking at now with furious eyes.

“Martin, you don’t have the right to look at me like—”

“I have!” He interrupts what she’s going to say. “I have all the right to say everything because you are cheating on me!”

Martin spat out the blood that tasted in his mouth before looking his girlfriend up to down mockingly.

“You degrade yourself like this just for the money?” he couldn’t comprehend it.

Veronica couldn’t look at him straight and he knows that she’s coming to her senses.

“I almost gave you everything and didn’t leave for myself! I provide all the things that you have asked for. Even the things I cannot give you, I still give it without any hesitation! That's why I ended up having a debt and owed a lot of money just to fulfill what I think you need. You’re a shame—” 

“I’m ashamed!” Veronica burst out loud. “I’m ashamed that I ended up settling for the garbage like you!”

Martin is dumbfounded! He couldn’t believe that those hurtful words came from Veronica’s mouth.

“What are you doing here?” she asked angrily. Like he is the one who did something wrong. “Why are you following me? You’re crazy over me that you need to track me—”

“It was my idea!” Lucas interrupted like a proud man as if he had been doing it amusingly. He pulled Veronica and put his hand on the girl's waist which means he is boasting that he owns her. “It’s so cool, right?”

Her reaction changed instantly, “You did this?” and flattered him like a proud bitch to what Lucas had done. 

"Let go! This is a violation of human rights!" Martin tried his best to free himself from Lucas' bodyguard but it was no use. They still held him tightly so that he couldn’t move his upper part and be restricted.

“Human rights my ass!” one of the bodyguards commended which made them laugh. “Law is not for everyone, Man! You don’t have the right to complain if you are poor—”

“Get out!” Veronica shouted to him which happened for the first 

“I couldn’t recognize you anymore, Veronica…” he said weakly from despair. “Why did you end up like this?”

“He still has no clue!” Lucas laughed so loud. 

“You made me realize how poor you are! You made me like this!” She pointed a finger at him. “You made me come to my senses that no matter how hard you try, your life will not have any progress! You wake up poor, you will die poor too! No one will tolerate someone like you who lives hand to mouth!"

Lucas enjoyingly whistled before he commented, “Niceee!” This is the first time that I have enjoyed watching a drama. “I didn’t know that it was fun!”

“Him, Lucas can provide me anything without waiting for it for a month like an idiot! I want a new designer bag, I got it! Paying for my school expenses? He already did—it’s for the whole year!” Veronica also boasted about her latest iPhone. “He gave it to me too!”

“Stop talking!” Martin shouted as he tried his best to free them.

“Our friends just introduced you to me because you are an easy target, Martin. We thought that I could milk some money for you. But it’s no fun anymore—you don’t have anything to offer!”

Lucas whistled, “your welcome! You deserve it. Your blowjob is mind-blowing!”

“Oh come on…” She was running out of patience. “I think you'd have more value if you were a dog—I forgot. You really are a dog! You're ready to bark when I say so, aren't you?”

“What’s the point of fighting, Martin?” Lucas asked him. “Just telling the truth! Don’t rub too much salt on your wound.”

Martin didn’t say anything this time. He just listened to what they were saying because he had enough!

“That’s why there’s a lot of people who treat idiots because there are many like you who are ready to be an idiot!” Veronica said it without blinking. “Martin, let’s face reality. He’s rich, you’re not! I’m done with an idiot who will look like he still wants to beg for something called love because he lacks it! I’m not your mother who died—”

“Whoooaah!” Lucas applauded happily because of amusement. “You deserve to have an award, bitch!” 

“Really—ahh…” she couldn’t continue what she was going to say when the playboy did something unexpectedly.

Lucas suddenly undressed Veronica's tiny clothes, which surprised her at first. Face-to-face, he massaged her mountain the way he wanted like a proud man.

“L-let’s face the fact, I-I don’t love you, Martin!” Veronica said in her whimpered voice that Martin reached his limit.

Martin felt like his blood was boiling. That he ended up having the strength to escape from the grip of Lucas' two bodyguards! He didn't think twice and punched Lucas's face after pulling Veronica away from Lucas.

Because of Martin's rage, his vision darkened even more that he didn’t stare at Veronica who covered her body on the floor without any pity from him! These two can treat him like garbage without even blinking! They don’t deserve to treat humans too. 

Martin not only gives her everything but also respects her so much that he hasn't even kissed her yet and touched her because she doesn't like to. He’s really an idiot to believe that Veronica is like a saint and a conservative woman! Now he understands that she doesn't like him. She is just tricking him because he is the only idiot who will still give money even if he ends up scraping by like a mouse.

When he's about to land another punch, Lucas’s bodyguard comes into action to prevent him from coming to Lucas.

“I told you to hold him tightly!” Lucas burst into anger. “I didn’t pay you enough to be this stupid—hold him!” 

The moment the two bodyguards hold Martin tightly to stand, Lucas blows punch to punch to him! Not satisfied yet, he even kicked him one after the other just enough for Martin to be numb. 

Martin's body immediately collapsed due to severe pain the moment that Lucas said that they could let go now…

Blood was dripping from his mouth with saliva, the other eye was closed due to the heavy blow, and he was lying on the floor when Lucas stepped on Martin’s face.

“How does it feel to kiss the floor? That was your level, idiot!” Lucas said laughing. “I can do anything to you, I can humiliate you on every level that I want until you feel like you don’t want to fucking continue living—”

“You’re so kind Lucas. His face experienced touching your expensive shoes!” Veronica said after getting up proudly.

“Even the expensive floor doesn’t deserve his body!” Lucas smirked like a ruthless seconded in what Veronica said.

Martin heard them laughing loudly. They are happy to humiliate him as he tries his best to remove the shoes from his face but he is so weak that even his own body is a traitor to him.

“It's wrong to ruin my night. It's wrong to bump into the boss—and that boss is me, asshole!” Lucas pressed the shoe on his face even more. “It’s no fun anymore—you’re fired!”

They really like degrading someone beneath like him. Their laughter is torture to him. He felt even more inferior because of their constant laughter after they left the room one by one and only Veronica left.

Veronica came closer to him so he could hear what she was going to say. “I will repeat. I didn't love you, Martin. I never was…”

“Come on, Veronica!” Lucas shouted. “Leave the garbage there!”

“Coming!” she replied. “Bye, loser!”

His heart really tore into pieces that made his past trauma come to him. Who is he to deserve love? He lost the chance at a young age when his mom passed away. He has no one to rely on but himself, which makes him stupid for love and settling for someone who only will use him.

His tears suddenly fell the moment he realized how low he was at that moment…

Why do I allow myself to be like this? Veronica is true, he’s really an idiot!

Clenching his fist, he promised himself that no one would treat him again like this! That he would take revenge one day on everyone who belittled him…

He will pass out at any moment because he feels that his body is about to give up…

Before passing out, he felt the vibrate of his old and broken phone in his pocket. Without any thought, he took it to see the contents of the message.

“Ten billion dollars are transferred to my bank account,” he laughed weakly. “I think they hit my head so badly that I am dreaming now…” 

That’s what he said before completely losing his consciousness.
