Ray knelt before her, his gaze playful, his intent clear.

“N-no, that’s not it…” Katrina stammered. “I—I have to get back to work.”

Ray’s grin turned sly. “Didn’t you come here to celebrate your divorce?”

“OF COURSE NOT!” Katrina huffed. “I came on a mission. An impossible one.”

Ray’s eyes glinted with amusement. “A mission, huh? Maybe I can help.”

His words calmed her slightly. Maybe he could help.

“Well,” she began, her voice turning sweet, “I wanted to know what Armando Pratt and my ex-husband wanted with Mark Ferro on this unusual trip with you.” She leaned closer, her smile teasing. “Perhaps you could tell me.”

Ray ran a hand over his towel, teasing her with the possibility of removing it. “Not sure I’m authorized to talk. It’s something related to the LCN.”

Katrina traced her bottom lip with her teeth. “Are you sure I can’t convince you?”

Ray smirked, leaning in. “I think we can come to an agreement.”

At the Braspolis General Hospital lounge that night, Claudia and Sandro stood frozen, their expressions uneasy after realizing Katrina had overheard their private conversation. Katrina, unfazed, gulped down her plastic cup of hospital coffee as if it were hard liquor.“Argh!” she exclaimed. “So this is the truth you both insist on paraphrasing? Mom, why would you even look at Uncle Sandro when Dad was right there?”Claudia, clearly ashamed, hesitated. “I don’t know, sweetheart... your mother wasn’t exactly wise in her younger days.”“And you, Uncle,” Katrina pressed on with scorn, “just because my mom chose my father, she’s a whore for it?”“You don’t even know half the—” Sandro began, but Katrina cut him off sharply.“Enough! This is a horrible moment to have this argument!”She downed the rest of her coffee and threw the empty cup into the trash.“You think it's normal for a woman to seduce a man and then swap him for his brother just for looks and status?” Sandro snapped.“I think

Claudia asked, her voice tight with barely controlled fury.Sandro didn’t answer right away. Instead, he offered her a malicious smile.Out in the hallway, Katrina returned, carrying a plastic cup of coffee she had managed to find somewhere else in the hospital. She was smiling, still pleased with herself after contacting Lawrence. But as she reached the lounge doorway, she heard Sandro’s voice clearly from within.“No,” he said. “I’ll never forget that I saw you first.”Katrina froze in place, her eyes wide as she processed what she had just heard. She remained still, choosing to eavesdrop further. From inside the lounge, Claudia’s voice answered coldly. “You may have seen me first, but your brother was the one who made a move.”Sandro’s smirk faded. Claudia, however, began to smi

The elegant bathroom of the Sodré Mansion was dimly lit, scented with warm candlelight that flickered gently against the marble and silver-painted surfaces. There was Lawrence, soaking in a luxurious silver-tinted bathtub. Reclined, eyes closed, and arms resting on the rim, he exuded a serene calm as thick foam masked him from the waist down.Suddenly, the chime of a cellphone disrupted the tranquility. Lawrence grimaced, displeased at the intrusion. Without opening his eyes, he lazily reached for the device. As the screen lit up, he finally blinked open to see the name flashing: “Katrina the Madwoman.”A knowing smile crept across his face.“Hello?” he answered smoothly. In the hospital corridor, Katrina paced anxiously, clinging to her phone like a lifeline.“Mr. Sodré! Thank goodness I reached you. Am I disturbing you?”“Not at all,” he replied. “I’m in the bathtub.”The image of Lawrence naked in a steamy bath instantly surged into Katrina’s mind, igniting a wave of lustful heat t

Their hostility was barely masked, and Briana noticed.“Are those looks for me,” she asked, calm but firm, “or because of the situation?”Katrina, bitter and visibly on edge, replied, “How quickly we forget. Weren’t you just at Vasconcelos earlier today, meddling where you shouldn’t, sweet-talking Grandma Althea into keeping those worthless, money-draining shows of yours?”Before the tension could escalate, Sandro’s voice cut through like a blade. “Eno

  • Chapter 540 Hearts in Dire Strait

Inside the dimly lit operations center of Braspolis General Hospital, a heavy silence loomed — broken only by the steady beeping of Gilson's heart rate on the multiparameter monitor. He lay motionless on the operating table, his body eerily still beneath the sterile lights.A nurse gently opened his hospital gown, exposing his chest in preparation for surgery. Another nurse efficiently laid out the surgical tools, arranging them exactly as the cardiac surgeon would require. The same doctor who had earlier spoken with Sandro now stood fully prepped, masked, gowned, and gloved. He paused for a moment, drawing in a deep breath as he regarded the man whose life was now in his hands.“And may God help us,” he murmured under his breath. He stepped forward, extending a hand toward the nurse at his side to receive the first instrument.Back in the hospital lounge, a storm hung thick in the air.
