Mark, Briana, and Nadir walked together in the parking lot of Braspolis General Hospital toward Briana’s car.

“My car’s in another spot,” Mark said, his voice low and tired.

“I’ll drive Mom home,” Briana replied. “I want to stay close to Grandma, in case there’s any news.”

Mark nodded, a warm understanding in his eyes. “I get it, Brie. Give Althea my best, will you?”

“Thank you, Mark,” Nadir added gently.

Mark leaned in and kissed Briana on the cheek before walking off toward his sleek Lamborghini Urus.

Back inside the hospital lounge, the atmosphere remained gloomy despite the thinning crowd. Now only Sandro, Katrina, and Claudia were left. The silence felt heavier without the others to buffer the sharp edges of the room’s emotional air.

Sandro helped himself to a cup of coffee, only to discover that he’d poured the last one.

“It’s out,” he announced.

“Of course you had to be the one to finish it,” Katrina snapped, her voice bitter.

Sandro turned toward his niece, unamused. “I

Now, in the quiet present, Briana shifted the tray onto her lap, her lips curled into a small smile. Her body ached in protest with every movement, but the discomfort was layered with the unmistakable satisfaction of being thoroughly, almost ruinously, loved. The rich aroma of shrimp stew wafted from the steaming plate — Regis’s handiwork — but it wasn’t the food that warmed her.It was Mark. Her Mark. Insatiable, incorrigible, hers. The phone buzzed suddenly beside her. She groaned, uncertain how to juggle both the tray and her phone, but after some careful maneuvering — and a few twinges of pain — she managed to answer it.“Hello?” she said, her voice still husky with the wear of recent pleasure.Outside, in the broad sunlight of the Glamour parking lot, Mark stood beside his Citroën, parked in the same fateful spot where so many secrets had simmered. He held the phone to his ear, his voice smooth and teasing.“Good morning, princess.”She felt her heart skip. “Good morning, darling

  • Chapter 562 A Distant Relative?

Lawrence stood in the stark hospital corridor, facing Dr. Vargas with visible desperation etched into his features. The doctor’s expression remained inscrutable, his body language precise and controlled, almost coldly analytical — as if something about Lawrence’s panic didn’t quite add up.“Mr. Sodré,” Vargas asked with a measured tone, “is Ryan Ribas a distant relative of yours?”The question caught Lawrence off guard, and he stammered, the words catching in his throat. “W-what do you mean? He’s my friend... and a client at the bank!”Vargas didn’t blink. His arms crossed with quiet skepticism. “And how exactly did you know he was here?”Lawrence bristled. “I was informed, obviously!”But his response didn’t seem to sway the doctor’s doubt. Vargas held his gaze a moment longer before offering an update, clinical and grim. “We’re trying to stop the bleeding. But I suggest you call his family — and pray. The hospital chapel is just down the hall.”Lawrence went pale. His eyes widened w

  • Chapter 561 Overkill

Regis entered with his usual grace in the quiet of the master suite at the Ferro House, carefully placing a breakfast tray on one of the bedside tables. Luana, seated nearby, couldn’t shake the nagging feeling that it was already too late in the morning for Briana to be having breakfast. But she hadn’t had much of a choice earlier — when the food arrived, she hadn’t even had the strength to lift a finger.“Enjoy your meal, madam,” Regis said courteously, then turned to Luana with a subtle nod. “Shall I bring anything for you, miss?”“No, thank you,” she replied with a faint smile. “I’m fine.”With another polite bow, Regis left, the door clicking softly behind him. The moment it was shut, Briana turned toward her best friend with curiosity lighting up her pale face.“So,” she began, “tell me how the peace treaty came about.”Luana raised her brows, surprised. “You knew I came to talk about that?”Briana gave a small, knowing smile. “The fact that Celia and Mary Ellen have both dropped

The name hit Karl like a slap. He jerked back in his chair, momentarily forgetting about his now-ready computer.“Shit! Fernanda Gabas’ psycho boyfriend? The one who nearly ruined our college reunion party?”Mark nodded. “We were reading about it when you walked in. That’s why Gene was standing next to me.”Karl relaxed slightly. “Of course. Anything that concerns Briana is also Gene’s business. Actually... all of ours.”Mark agreed with a silent nod, then picked up his phone. As Karl turned his attention back to his monitor, Mark slipped out into the hallway. He dialed quickly. “Vargas.”“Yes, Lord Ferro?” came the voice on the other end.“Return to the hospital. Use your cover.”“Did something happen to Gilson Vasconcelos?”“No. Ryan Ribas was at the prison during the riot — probably visiting his brother. I saw a photo of him covered in blood being shoved into an ambulance.”“I understand, Lord Ferro.”Mark ended the call. No further explanation was necessary — Vargas knew what to d

  • Chapter 559 Lost the Ability to Walk

Briana stirred awake in the master suite of the Ferro House. As usual, pain greeted her like an old friend — the deep ache of a body not yet accustomed to being ravaged night after night by her fierce, untamable husband. Despite the soreness, a smile spread across her lips. The idea of being taken again, relentlessly, until death did them part, filled her with a strange, thrilling satisfaction. She shifted slightly, wincing, and reached for her phone, anxious to see if there was any news about her uncle.Downstairs in the vestibule, Regis answered the door to find Luana beaming with excitement.“Good morning, Mister Butler!” she chirped. “Can Briana see me?”Regis raised one skeptical eyebrow. Her enthusiasm seemed misplaced. She hadn’t asked how Briana was — or even if she was home.“What exactly does Miss Barros mean by that?” he asked coolly.Luana gave him a cheeky wink. “Come on, butler! I know my best friend lost the ability to walk thanks to Mark — the man’s a relentless, insat

That name struck Ribeiro like a slap. His eyes widened, scanning the swarming grounds as if Romulo might simply be standing nearby. He turned his head left and right, searching among the crowd.“Mr. Ferro,” he said cautiously, “at this moment, it’s impossible to verify. We have no power or internet. The reception area is utterly destroyed... and it seems we’ve had fatalities.”Mark’s grip on the phone tightened until his knuckles turned white. Rage boiled just beneath the surface.“Who could have died?” he demanded, voice low but volatile.“It was visitation day,” Ribeiro said heavily. “The reception area was filled with families. Some were in visitation when it happened.”The words sank in like lead. Mark’s hand slammed into his desk, sweeping documents and objects to the floor with a violent crash.Fury ignited in his chest — not only at the escapees, but at the sheer injustice of it all. Innocent people had died while the very criminals who belonged in cages had scattered like cock

  • Chapter 557 Peace Pact

In Mary Ellen’s apartment, the front door opened with a soft creak. Celia and Luana stood face to face, their eyes locked in a long, unreadable exchange. Neither of them displayed joy, nor rage — just a cautious, guarded calm.“Can I come in?” Luana asked, her voice tentative.“Yes,” Celia replied coolly. “Mary Ellen’s waiting.”Luana stepped inside.Mary Ellen was sprawled dramatically across the sofa, like a tragic heroine from an old black-and-white film. She wasn’t THAT sick, but her posture certainly suggested otherwise — one hand over her chest, the other dangling limply over the edge. The effect was intentional. It caught Luana off guard and evoked just the right dose of guilt. She rushed forward, moved by the scene.“Mary Ellen... I’m so sorry,” she blurted.Mary Ellen sat up slowly and gestured to the other couch. “Sit down, Luana.”Celia joined Mary Ellen on the main sofa — an unmistakable display of unity. Two against one.“We need to resolve this like decent human beings,”

The air snapped with gunfire. Enraged by the fall of one of their own, the police retaliated without hesitation. Bullets tore through the air, and the escape turned into a massacre. One by one, the fleeing prisoners dropped, their bodies sprawled across the dust and dirt like discarded dolls. The lieutenant gave no signal to hold fire. On the contrary, he pointed toward the remaining escapees, his face rigid with fury. “Don’t let a single one of them get away!” he shouted. “They’re resisting arrest!”Some inmates, shackled and already recaptured, screamed as they watched their friends gunned down. They twisted and kicked in protest, but with their hands bound behind their backs, their resistance was useless.Officers struck them with fists and elbows, barking threats, trying to keep order in a scene that had long since left the realm of order behind. Not far from the chaos, hidden behind a thick patch of bushes, someone crouched low, trembling — not just from the sounds of gunfire but

  • Chapter 555 My Brother’s Still in There

Mark entered his office with a heavy expression, visibly troubled by the situation unfolding at the prison. His mind raced.Just when we were talking about Romulo Ribas... could it be a coincidence? he wondered.Without wasting time, he made his way to his desk and powered on the computer. Sitting down, he picked up his phone and scanned through his messages, hoping for any updates.A knock interrupted his thoughts.“Come in!” he called. The door creaked open, and Ray stepped in.“Ray, the ladies' favorite actor!” Mark greeted with a smirk. “There's a secretary at Sodré Bank who downloaded the app just to watch you in the new sitcom.”Ray gave a humble smile. “Glad to hear it, sir. I came to bring the full report.”He placed a thick dossier from Pratt Entertainment on Mark’s desk. Mark raised his eyebrows, silently asking, All this? He opened it and began flipping through the pages slowly, hunting for numbers and financial details.“How are Armando and James Ross behaving?” he asked,
