The clash of steel and the demons' roars immediately filled the outskirts of the village.

CLANG!

A knight was thrown back several steps as his sword barely managed to block a demon's claw. Arcelia's barrier flashed brilliantly, absorbing most of the impact, but cracks of light had begun spreading across its surface.

"Don't stop!" Arcelia shouted. "I can still maintain the barriers!"

Rangga scanned the entire battlefield as he continued running.

"Okay... find an opening... find an opening..."

  • 26. I Think the Demons Have Wi-Fi

The sun was beginning to sink toward the western horizon when the work in Ravenfall was finally finished. The wounded had been treated, the worst of the rubble had been cleared away, and the surviving villagers had begun rebuilding their homes, though the scars of battle were still visible everywhere.Arcelia let out a long breath."Finally."The knight commander nodded."So... what about Rangga?""He's waiting outside the village."The two of them left Ravenfall, following the same road Rangga had taken earlier. It didn't take long before they found him.Rangga was crouching alone beside the road.Using a small stick, he was drawing strange patterns in the dirt, occasionally erasing parts of them before sketching them again. He was so absorbed in his work that he didn't even notice them approaching.Arcelia stepped closer."Rangga.""Hm?"Only then did Rangga look up."Oh

  • 25. I Told You It Might Explode

Rangga remained crouched beside the demon's body, studying the crystal protruding from its chest. The longer he channeled mana into it, the stronger the strange sensation became. It felt familiar, yet at the same time completely foreign, as though something had deliberately altered what should have been a natural pattern."I wanna try something."Arcelia turned toward him."Try what?""An experiment."Rangga scratched his cheek before giving a faint smile."But I'm asking for permission first.""Permission?"Arcelia frowned."Wasn't I the one who asked you to examine it?""Yeah, but..."Rangga pointed at the crystal."If it explodes, I'm not taking responsibility."Arcelia simply shook her head."That's impossible. It won't explode.""Well, let's hope so."Rangga shrugged before focusing on the crystal again. This time, he didn't merely channel mana in

  • 24. That Crystal Feels... Wrong.

Not long afterward, the sound of footsteps approached from the direction of the village.Rangga, who was busy slurping his noodles, only glanced over briefly."Oh."Arcelia.Behind her walked the captain of the guard, followed by several knights who looked far more exhausted than they had a few hours earlier. As they drew closer, their steps gradually slowed. What they saw was nothing like what they had expected.Under a tree, Rangga was sitting comfortably with a bowl of noodles in his hands.Beside him, the knight assigned to guard him was also eating peacefully.Thin wisps of steam still rose from the pot in front of them. The atmosphere felt more like a picnic than the aftermath of a battle against eleven demons.Arcelia stared at the two of them for several seconds."..."The captain of the guard also fell silent."..."Rangga looked up."Oh, you guys done?"Ar

  • 23. I Almost Died. Anyway Noodles

Rangga slowly regained consciousness. The first thing he felt was something hard supporting his back. His body had already been moved away from the battlefield, and he was now leaning against a tree at the edge of the forest. Then the headache hit him."...Ugh."Rangga immediately grabbed his temples. His head felt as though someone had spun him around dozens of times.Even with his eyes still closed, he could feel his entire sense of balance falling apart.Slowly, Rangga opened his eyes. The world immediately swayed. The tree in front of him moved to the left. The ground tilted to the right. The sky spun.Rangga tried sitting up straighter. That was a terrible mistake. His stomach immediately churned."Urk—"He quickly bent over to the side."BLUUURGH!"The contents of his stomach came pouring out.A knight who had been standing guard nearby immediately rushed over."Lord Rangga?""Urgh—"The knight crouched beside him with a worried expression."How are you feeling?"Rangga raised on

  • 22. I Am a Genius Mage. Why Won't This Sword Cooperate

"Rangga!"Arcelia watched as all the strength suddenly left Rangga's body and he collapsed onto the ground. For a moment, her concentration broke."Rangga!"No answer and he wasn't moving.Arcelia instinctively moved to run toward him, but a deafening roar from the front forced her to raise her staff again."GRRAAAHHH!"BOOM!The final demon's fist slammed into the barrier. The layer of light protecting the knights shook violently as cracks spread across its entire surface.Arcelia gritted her teeth. She couldn't leave. Not yet.Even though only one demon remained, their situation was far from favorable. Most of the knights had already fallen. Some were dead.Others were too badly wounded to continue fighting.Even those still standing were completely exhausted.Their breathing was heavy.Their movements had slowed.Even the captain of the guards, who had remained on the front line throughout the battle, now had to grip his sword with both hands just to stop his arms from trembling."L
