Jaden nodded at Derek's request. There was a huge silence between them. A lot was running through Derek's mind.
Derek's phone rang, he ignored the call. He already saw the caller Id. “Why is she calling, after speaking so rudely to me,” he thought to himself.
After a few moments, a message flashed through his phone.
“I want a divorce!”
Derek's eyes widened, his fist tightened around the phone. Jaden noticed his mood and took the phone from him.
“Shit!” Jaden screamed. He looked up to Derek who was lost and shattered.
“How could she! After everything I have done for her!” Derek lamented, holding back his tears. “I gave her everything, I cherished her, saved the family company from going bankrupt,” he cried out fuming in anger.
“Jaden! Get me all the information on that damn guy, this is his number!” He said standing up from his chair. He searched for the unknown number and sent it to Jaden. “I need his details by tomorrow evening!” I will contact you if I need something else. He mumbled to him and left angrily.
Derek reached home very late that night, heading straight to Maureen's room. She was already fast asleep, he stared at her, opened the message she had earlier sent and tightened his fist in anger.
“Let's talk about this tomorrow morning, when you wake up,” he muttered quietly, covering her up with a blanket. He moved to his room, they had always slept separately except on few occasions where she came home drunk or on days she is seriously sick.
Maureen woke up the next morning, to Derek sitting on one of the couch in her room. “Hey! Why are you up so early,” she murmured quietly, wiping her eyes with the back of her palm.
“You ask so innocently like everything is okay between us?” Derek threw back at her, trying to initiate a calm conversation and not a violent argument.
“Ohh Derek! It's too early for this, must everything be a conversation with you. Can't you accept some things the way they are?” Maureen dragged nonchalantly, pressing her forehead softly.
“Accept some things? What do you even mean by that. I should accept the fact that you almost sent me to an early grave yesterday?” He inquired curiously, glaring at her bitterly.
“What exactly is the meaning of the message you sent me, yesterday?” He asked her, showing her the message on his screen.
“That? C'mon Derek! You and I know that this isn't a marriage afterall, so why dragging it?” She groaned, hissing under her breath.
Derek's face went pale, his mouth dropped open. The shock and anger on his face was enough to scare a child away.
“Okay!” Derek muttered bitterly, he didn't press further and stood up from the couch, Maureen's eyes widened in shock, like she wasn't expecting such an easy response. He had a lot on his mind but he was tired of talking and seeking for approval.
“I think it's actually time to let go, I have never been accepted even for once. So it's not as if I'm that surprised” he whispered to himself as he staggered towards the door.
“I will be waiting for the divorce papers so I can sign them,” he mumbled through clenched teeth, his hands tightened to the door knob.
Just as he stepped out of her room, he heard a sharp cry, and ran back inside to see Maureen holding her stomach in pain.
“Hey! What's the problem?” He asked as he jumped on the bed to carry her up. “Shit! You have fever too. Your body is fucking hot!” He screamed in shock. Maureen didn't say a word, she was just breathing heavily.
Derek carried her up like a baby, and stormed out of the house. “To the hospital!” He said to her driver hurriedly. “Fast!” He screamed at the driver in anger.
“Hey! Maureen?” He called her gently, rubbing her back as she placed her head on his shoulder. “You will be fine, how can you be sick and acting all strong and stubborn!” He muttered furiously.
They reached the hospital and Maureen was admitted, Derek reached out to his father and before seconds, all her family members were in hospital.
“What on earth have you done to my daughter?” Mr Alexander, Maureen's Father, questioned Derek publicly in the hospital. Derek's heart skipped, his eyes furrowed in anger, as he tried to maintain a steady atmosphere.
“Are you trying to ruin her life because she said she wants a divorce?” He added in a whisper and Derek's face went blank. His jaw dropped at his words.
Derek wore a sad smile, exhaled heavily and ignored him. “So they all know about the divorce already,” he mumbled bitterly to himself, tucking his hands in his pockets.
“Maureen is my wife! I can't possibly do anything to hurt her no matter what,” he retorted calmly, but loud enough that they could all hear him.
“Soon to be ex-wife! correction though!” Mrs Elena, Maureen's mother muttered sarcastically, loud enough for him to hear.
Derek scoffed hearing those words, “they are all prepared for the divorce!” He thought to himself as he exhaled deeply.
“Once Marie wakes up, and I make sure she is okay, I will pack up and leave. I can't be humiliated twice!” He said to himself with a painful nod and walked a little farther from where they were all sitting.
“Mr Derek?” The Doctor called out, and Derek jumped up from his seat.
“Yes doctor! Is she awake?” He asked curiously, rushing towards the doctor. Despite all the dramas happening between them. Derek was ready to make sure Maureen was okay before he leaves.
“Doctor! If there is anything you can talk to me, she is my daughter,” Mrs Elena said immediately, trying to move Derek out of the way.
“No problem ma'am, I would like to talk to the husband privately,” the doctor requested and Maureen's mom stepped back angrily.
“Please follow me,” the doctor said to Derek and left to his office.
“Your wife is one month and three weeks pregnant!” The Doctor said with a smile.
“What?!” Derek screamed.

“Hell no! What is he doing here?” Steph whispered softly, her eyes widened as she turned to meet Maureen's dangerous gaze. “Gosh, he is so stubborn!” Maureen's jaw dropped, seeing how confident he walked in. “Something feels off! What is he up to this time?” She thought to herself, as her eyes followed Derek till he sat down. “I swear, I don't know anything about this!” She mouthed to Maureen innocently. All eyes turned to Derek, as he walked in peacefully, his shoulders high and bossy. “Fuck!” Damien mumbled slowly, his face lowly tilted down like he was avoiding his stare. Mr Alexander's lips were partly opened, as he glared at him. Derek walked in alone so they thought he was alone. Nicole wore a mixed expression, “Why are their faces like that? I guess no one was expecting him to show up! But at least, Someone could be held responsible for the fraud at the moment. Damien almost got me hooked!” All those thoughts ran through Nicole's mind as he glared anxiously at Derek. “Uh

“Who the fuck is disturbing my peace this night?” Derek mumbled through clenched teeth, as he watched his phone ring countless times, with an unknown number displaying on the screen. Derek and Mr Lincoln had been gathering enough information for the past few days. And on the night to the said day, Derek was resting his head, while his mind wallowed in thoughts. Just when his eyes were about to close for a brief sleep, his phone began to ring. At first, he ignored it, but after so many rings he looked at the screen, his eyes narrowed for a moment, as he sat up from the couch. “Why does this number seem familiar?” He mumbled and hissed, not picking up. The call stopped and then a message popped up. He opened the message, his eyebrows drew together in disbelief. “Steph?” He whispered slowly, his fist tightened on the phone as he read the message she sent to him. “Why would she take such a risk, what if her father finds out about this?” He murmured silently, as he continued reading
Chapter 83.
“Oh yes, you know exactly what I'm saying!” Steph mumbled back to her softly, and turned her seat to face her again. “Look what I found in dad's old closet!” She said again, and handed the paper over to Maureen. She looked at it carefully, tilting her head one side in confusion. “How dare you go to dad's closet? And what's this? Why is there another person’s full signature as the company's owner?” she asked surprisingly, tucking her head backwards like it was blocking her views. Steph didn't answer her, she just raised her hands in the air, shaking her head negatively. “I should be asking you those questions, at least you've been here all your life,” Steph said calmly, making Maureen look up to her with narrowed eyes. “Look, I don't have time for this!” Maureen said and threw the paper at her. “If you don't have anything else to say, please leave, before Dad calls!” She added immediately and turned to resume her work. Steph hissed and stood up, adjusted her clothes, she turned t

Derek scoffed silently, as he leaned closer to her, his eyes narrowing slowly. “Mrs Bells! I came here so you could help me out, why are you saying these words to me?” Derek drew back and sprang up immediately, his face furrowed in anguish. “Look, Derek, I am a mother. You're like a son to me and I don't want you to end up fighting your family enemies the remaining days of your life!” She said softly, exhaling heavily. Those words must have come from the deepest part of her heart. She slowly took his hands to calm him down. Derek stared at her for a while, before sitting down quietly. He wringed his fingers together, tilting his head down in deep thoughts. He raised his head from time to time to glance at Mrs Bells. After some minutes of silence, Derek raised his head slowly and exhaled with a breaking nod. He faced her directly and said, “Look, Mrs Bells, I totally understand what you're saying. To be honest with you, since my dad died, I've been hiding.” Derek ran his hands t

“We've checked out all the possible means, but we couldn't find anything suspicious. I know you do these things so well, so I asked Nicole to call you over,” Mr Alexander spoke to Jaden as he continued glaring at him secretly. “I need you to also get your friends hiding place. He's been away for too long and no one could reach to him!” He added strictly, staring deeply into Jaden's eyes. “I don't know where Derek is, and it's been long we talked because he's been avoiding me since the last time!” Jaden said politely, shrugging his shoulders. “I don't believe you, don't let me suspect you, or are you guys planning something against me because it will never work!” Mr Alexander said furiously to Jaden who scoffed silently. “Are you trying to control me because my father is gone?” He asked himself, his chest rising with fast breaths. “Are you guilty of something, why would anyone plan anything against you if you're innocent?” He asked Mr Alexander, his muscles twitching. “Shut up! s

“What? Please Sir, I'm not a thief. I'm just here to see the owner of this!” Derek screamed immediately, raising his face up as he handed over the paper to him. Mr Ethan took the paper from him, his eyes widened as he looked at it. He stretched out the paper, stared at Derek, and looked back at the paper. “Mr Lincoln sent you? Wait? Are you…..?” He asked with narrowed eyes, dragging his words and still not finishing his statement. “Follow me immediately!” He said sharply again even before Derek could express himself or even say a word. Derek sprang up immediately and followed him behind, he turned his back to glare at those men he had issues with, a slow smirk spread through his face and he turned front. “Please, excuse us!” He said to his men, and they paused outside without entering his office. “Welcome Mr Romano!” He said immediately Derek closed the door behind him. Derek's face looked a bit confused and relieved at the same time. “Finally,” Derek exhaled and sat down quiet
