His Influence

Chapter 2

Turning around, Prince's gaze met with a man who looked familiar. He was still puzzled as he could not make a thing out of what was happening. It's got to be a dream. Yeah, he was surely dreaming.

With furrowed brows, Prince turned around to gaze at Lara. He suddenly started laughing to everyone's astonishment.

"It's a prank, is it not? There's no way that this is true. We are husband and wife so the baby should belong to us." Prince was still in doubt when Kyle walked over and held Lara by the waist. Angrily, he rushed over to attack the man but Lovelyn stood in his way.

"I dare you to lay a finger on him."

Prince ignored his mother in-law and continued towards the man whose hands were still wrapped around his wife's waist. However, Lovelyn ran to his front and gave him a resounding slap. 

"What do you think you're going to do? You think I'd let you attack my worthy and prospective son in law."

Stopping in his tracks, Prince lifted his hand and massaged his face that had turned red from the slap. Still in a perplexed state, he was jolted out of his thoughts by Kyle's mocking words.

"Mom, you don't need to stand up for me. I'm sure that the loser can't beat me in a fight. I can definitely take him."

He strode towards the still perplexed Prince and stood before him. 

"Hahaha, Mr PA. I wonder what my Lara even saw in you."

Turning to Lara, he said in a playful tone. "Tell me honey, why did you settle for such a low class? A big shot star like yourself shouldn't be seen around him. And you even made him your personal assistant."

Lara rolled her eyes at him and let out a smirk. "I gave him a role that befits his status after all."

With those words that Lara said, everyone except Prince fell into a hysterical laughter. His wife had just given him heartbreaking news and now they were making fun of him. He could not control the anger that was brewing in him so he let his emotions take hold of him.

Angrily, he balled his fist and struck Kyle with a blow which took the latter aback. Because he didn't anticipate such an attack from Prince, he lost his balance and nearly fell on the floor. Lara ran to hold his boyfriend while rubbing the spot that took the blow.

"Honey, are you ok?" She was about to charge towards Prince when the latter struck Kyle with another blow. Kyle stood his ground and struck back so the two men started fighting themselves.

The women became confused as to how to separate the fight. Obviously, they could get hurt while trying to stop the men.

Crystal stood aside and watched the fight with so much enthusiasm. Even though she didn't like that Kyle was being beaten up, she was enjoying the show. If it weren't for something, she would have brought out her phone to record it.

"Mom, do something." Lara yelled at her mother who was also confused. She would have found a way to stop the fight if she was not pregnant. However, it would be risky for the baby if she throws herself in the middle of the ruckus. Who knows, one of the men might accidentally strike her on her stomach and put her baby's life in danger.

The two men were still seriously enchanting blows as no one wanted to be defeated. They had made a mess of the sitting room. Even the birthday cake was smashed and littered everywhere including the decorations and balloons. Prince had just been pushed away by Kyle's bow and was about to retaliate when Lovelyn rushed over and gave him another slap stopping him in his tracks. "How dare you disrespect me by fighting my prospective son in law before my presence. Have you lost your mind?"

Kyle took the chance to close in on him but Lara held him by the arm. "I'll take care of this and put an end to this drama."

"But Mom, this is not fair. How can you people do this evil to me? Lara is my wife and I have all the rights over her. I can't just fold my arms and watch…"

"You have no right over my sister, you church rat." Crystal's voice interrupted Prince and he turned to glare at her.

"Stay off this Crystal, I'll handle it myself." Lovelyn said as she looked around and didn't see Lara. She assumed that she had gone to get some ice for Kyle's bruises so she went ahead to confront Prince whose face had gone red with anger. He also had a few bruises as a result of the fight.

"From the first day my daughter introduced a church rat like you to me, I never wanted this union. You're just a lowlife who my daughter pays his wages. You're never fit for a Princess like her even if you call yourself 'Prince'. My daughter is a star who should never have associated herself with you. However, I'm happy that she has seen reasons with me and gone for someone with a more befitting status. As you know, Kyle is a big shot movie star and they're both birds of a feather that should always flock together."

With clenched fists, Kyle kept glaring at Prince. He would have charged at him again and torn him apart if Lara hadn't told him to leave it to her. He should just involve the police but he thought of the scandal it might cause because Lara and himself were public figures. Kyle was happy that the media didn't know about the joke Lara got herself involved in the name of a marriage.

Lovelyn went ahead and stood face to face with Prince. She locked her eyes into his and scoffed. "You're no longer welcomed here so it's best you go in there and pack your things. Leave this place at once before I call the police and name you a trespasser and a thief."

"There won't be any need for that because he's leaving here immediately." 

Lara appeared before them with a paper. Striding towards where Prince stood, Lara handed him a pen and the paper.

"It'll be cruel of me to ask you for half your savings because I know it won't be enough for you to feed on. You no longer have a job and it'll take some time to find one. Out of my generosity, I want you to keep your little money so you won't starve to death outside here."

She strode closer to him and scoffed. "Sign the damn papers and get the hell out of my house. Your days of mooching off us are over."
