The task

Vicky heard Steven race down the stairs as she closed the kitchen cabinets and refilled the salt shaker. She promptly peaked from the side of the door to see what was happening. To her shock, there was nothing much. It was just Steven saying something to himself and grabbing his coat. The temperature already dropped that morning. It was most likely freezing cold by then . Thank God for the house heater which saved them lots of trouble. She could tell he was still his pain as he limped to the door with his phone pressed to his ears.

She leaned against the door with her hands to her chest. The previous night slid into her mind sharply. He was hurt. What makes him think it was smart to drive in that condition? She couldn’t let him go like that. At least for Bonnie's sake.

She came out of her hiding area and cleared her throat, pretending to wipe her hand with her handkerchief.
