Next Steps

Vicky hummed a song as she prepared Bonnie’s meal. She used the song to distract herself from Steven’s thoughts. But with time, she stopped singing and groaned. It was freaking 10pm in the evening. Why wasn’t he there yet? If it was her who came that late, he would have scolded her. She took the baby food she prepared for Bonnie and went to the sitting room where Bonnie played with her stroller toys.

“Alright, my darling,” Vicky smiled, pecking her on the cheeks. “Time for your dinner.”

Bonnie’s eyes stared at the plate and her tongue stuck out as she danced happily. Vicky laughed.

“You and food, huh? Inseparable,” Vicky pulled her cheeks softly. “I love you, my baby girl.”

She carefully gave her a spoon of baby food and offered her another. Vicky's eyes went to the door as her heart raced against her chest. She was tense and she could not tell why. She had a very bad feeling about something. An unexplainable strong gut feeling. But as usual, feelings like that were irrational. She
