Richard walked back to Dianne’s room, but his mind was no longer calm.

His thoughts weren't back to the message he had received on his phone. Back to the sedan car that was waiting for him just outside the hospital.

His mind drifted back to what the doctor said. Richard still could not believe what the doctor told him. Dianne was never pregnant. The truth hit him harder the more he thought about it.

He sat again beside her bed, staring at her. Her chest rose and fell slowly. For a moment, he wished she would open her eyes and tell her everything.

About the kiss with Sarah and also about the system. It was quite midnight blowing actually and even he still couldn't wrap his head around it.

But deep down, he knew it wasn’t. Gerald, Margaret, and Kathleen had played him. And Dianne probably didn't know they did.

The door opened quietly, and a nurse walked in. She smiled politely. “Sir, v

Money isn't everything. When a man has money, he craves for something else. Love maybe, power, or something more. As the car tumbled, Richard thought it was all over. Away from the Warren’s who only saw him as a tool to be used. Away from Sarah who wants his heart and of course Thomas Bishop who wanted him gone for some weird reasons known to him. The rain didn’t stop that night. It poured harder as if the sky itself was crying.Broken glass lay scattered across the wet road. Richard’s car had flipped twice before landing in a ditch. The headlights were still on, flickering weakly in the dark. Steam rose from the crushed bonnet, and the sound of dripping water filled the silence after the crash.Inside, Richard’s head rested against the steering wheel. Blood trickled slowly down his forehead. His breathing was faint but steady. The phone that had caused his distraction was lying near his feet, its screen was shattered but still glowing faintly with Sarah’s name on it. Minutes p

Dianne looked at Brian with anger. Her hand slightly placed on his chest as he was about to move closer. “ Why are you so persistent? I told you I don't want to have anything to do with you. When are you going to realise this and leave me the hell alone.” Brian took a step backward, he slowly brushed his hair backwards and smiled. “ You still don't get it, do you?”“ Get what?” Diane asked, her hands slightly resting on the table. “ Richard is not at your level anymore. He has moved on and if you are smart, you will see that he doesn't need you anymore.” Brian said locking gaze with her. His eyes slowly went towards Richard who was still talking to his guest and back at Dianne. “ You know, I have been wondering. The Denali contract you promised my parents, I don't see you fulfilling that promise exactly Richard who made it happened. Remind me why you are here again.” Brian wanted to talk but he couldn't. He could see that Dianne was flooring him.“ Funny. Do you know how he got h

  • Chapter 44: The launch of the Denali contract

Meanwhile, The Denali Contract was launched with Richard standing right beside Sarah Robertson and trying as much as possible to keep a low profile. He only needed to take some pictures and also sign a few documents since he officially collected the contract on behalf of The Warren’s family. Gerald and Kathleen felt a bit drawn back. They couldn't go and meet him or even shake hands with him while Dienna also felt bad. She could read the atmosphere and noticed how Ricard had distanced himself from her. But Sarah, she was all over Richard. She kept introducing him to each business tycoon and also to many of her business associates. But then, Brian Lawrence walked in, even making the tension escalate. Sarah has given strict instructions not to allow him to enter but somehow, Brian found a way. He walked towards the Warren’s family and greeted Gerald. At first, Gerald didn't want to pay him any attention but he reminded him of the money he had given to him just in the nick of time t

  • Chapter 42 : War imbound

It kind of sucks having an enemy you know nothing about. Richard tried many times to get his memory back and even ask the system for aid but the system won't just budge. Rather the floating message remained still. < System message ; Start your own company. Richard was not sure if it was the best idea to start his own business. Here was Thoams Bishop who was breathing down on his neck and trying to get him but still he didn't understand why. “ Stop!” he yelled. “ Stop asking me if I want to build an empire and here me solve this riddle. I need to know who Thomas Bishop is and how he is connected to me. Can't you at least help me do that?” The system immediately went dead silent. No words and the panel also erased right in front of him. “ Good! Just great!” Richard threw his hands into the air. His mind went back to Diane and he remembered he had not called to check up on her. But Richard didn't want to. The love he had for her was slowly burning down. The thought of Diane accep

  • Chapter 41 : Richard lost

Richard sat alone in his big mansion. The thought of why Thomas Bishop might have wanted to harm him was the only thing he could think about. It made his heart race and his face pale. He had never tried to hide from anyone. Not even the Warren family. No matter how he was treated unfairly and talked down to, Ricard had always found a way to get back on his feet. But this time, he was scared. Bishop Richard was not Gerald Warren. He was like Brian who was going to kill anyone who stood in his way. And that alone scared him. Richard went over to his laptop and read how many companies that Thomas Bishop had taken over in the last few weeks. Richard's heart beat fast. Each company wrecked and was taken with force. Most of the company owners were either dead or in a poor state. Richard still didn't understand. He had no business, no office to even call him now. But then, another message arrived from the system.
