CHAPTER 05

“Sir, wait!” a gray-haired man in his fifties scuttled over to Sawyer. He was wearing a Neville’s suit worth over a hundred grand. “Please, sir! I brought an item you wouldn’t wanna miss.”

Sawyer stopped and glanced back at him.

Fredrick snapped his fingers, and two men in suits quickly brought a glass freezer box.

Inside the box, Sawyer could see tiny bee-like creatures giving off golden light.

 “Goldbees that are only found in the dry forests on the equatorial line,” Fredrick kept talking enticingly. “The honey created by these bees is used in making extremely rare potions. I’m sure it will help your sister’s condition.”

Sawyer’s expression changed, but he tried not to look desperate and let out a deep sigh. “What do you want in return?”

“Please consider leading my Brilliant Guild,” Fredrick lowered his head and humbly requested. He took out a platinum card from his pocket. “Please accept this card. It has 1 billion dollars inside. This is just an advance payment.”

“I only got suspended from SSL, not expelled,” Sawyer responded. “Besides, I have no interest in joining any guild or organizations.” He gently pushed the card away. “But…” He took the freezer box. “I’ll take this one. In return, I’ll help you once in the future under the condition that your request doesn’t go against my conscience.”

Frederick pursed his lips together and said, “Please take the card, too.”

Sawyer, however, walked away as he had no need to accept money.

Frederick’s assistant, a young female, asked him, “Boss, why did you lower yourself so much for this particular young man when we have so many other promising candidates?”

“Sure, the alphas are all strong,” Frederick said while staring at Sawyer’s back, “but some lone wolves are superior to alphas. They don’t care about hierarchy and power as they believe in themselves and live and breathe by their own code. If we can get such a lone wolf to lead our pack, he might become our biggest sword and shield.”

Sawyer, on the other hand, stopped in front of a 100-floored luxury hotel Sunrise.

“This place will do. I’ll stay here until Helia updates me on the information I asked her.”

There were no guards outside.

The automatic doors opened for others, but they didn’t open for Sawyer.

The receptionist and the manager came rushing over, and the glass door slid open. “Your face isn’t in our database.” Her hand was on a laser gun.

“Are you a criminal?” the bald male manager asked.

Sawyer put his hand under his suit. “I’m taking out my identity card, so don’t shoot.”

Despite what he said, she ended up shooting.

However, the laser bullet bounced off in a different direction before it even hit him.

The receptionist was wide-eyed. (The laser bullet got deflected?)

Sawyer’s gaze turned cold, but he showed the identity card and a ring.

After seeing those items, the expression on the receptionist and the manager completely changed.

“S-Sorry for the trouble, sir,” they greeted him humbly. “Please come inside.”

“Forgive my rudeness, sir,” the manager humbly said, “I will allot the penthouse to you. Even billionaires have a tough time reserving the top floor. It costs a quarter million dollars per hour, but I will give you a thirty percent discount. The infinity pool there is pretty sick. Its walls are made of mermaid scales. Just staying in that pool is good for the physical health of men… if you know what I’m saying, sir.”

Sawyer, however, put a signed blank check in the manager’s hand and said, “Tell your boss I’m buying this hotel.”

The receptionist was slack-jawed. The Sunrise hotel was worth over forty billion dollars. How could this young man say he wants to buy it?

“Also, both you and the receptionist will not receive this month’s salary for shooting at me,” Sawyer added, leaving both of them stunned.

Even though they tried apologizing, Sawyer didn’t forgive them.

“Since he’s part of SSL, and yet his face isn’t in the database, it must mean his identity is highly confidential,” the manager was pulling his hair in frustration. He then shouted at the receptionist. “How could you shoot at him! You should have waited, you fool!”

“I-I’m sorry. I thought he was taking out a weapon.”

In the end, both of them lowered their heads in defeat. Who would have thought Sawyer would buy the entire hotel just to cut their salary this month? What more was he planning for their future. Just thinking about it made their hearts race in trepidation.

At Deville mansion.

Sasha was checking online about how to check a woman’s virginity.

“Damn it. There’s no credible way to check a woman’s virginity?” she grew more frustrated and bit on her nails. “I don’t feel anything different down there. Did I really lose my virginity? I refuse to believe it.”

Just then, Maria entered the room.

“M-Mom!” Sophia nearly sprang up on the bed and then shut the laptop. “Knock before entering!”

“Did you tell us before you brought a stranger home and got knocked by him on this bed?” Maria asked angrily as she pulled the bedsheet from under her and tossed it out the window.

“I-It was my mistake, but it won’t happen again, Mom,” Sasha assured. “I promise.”

“Oh, you will never make such a mistake again because you’re soon going to be part of the Fletcher family,” Maria said, “whether you like it or not.”

Sasha frowned.

“Your task will be to get pregnant with Ashton’s kid,” Maria added. “ASAP.”

Sasha’s frown deepened. She clutched her dress tightly. “Am I a tool?”

“Stop overreacting. We’re not sending you to the jungle, but to a multi-billionaire’s home,” Maria said, her lips smiling but her gaze sharp. “So, do your best to raise the Deville family’s status. That is your job. Your only job. Don’t you ever forget that.” Saying that she was walking out of the room but briefly stopped and said, “Oh, and don’t forget to dress up well for the auction tonight. You must have Ashton’s eyes glued to you!”

Maria then left, whistling in a good mood, but Sasha slowly but surely broke into tears.

She had no one else she could trust outside her family. If only the world wasn’t in troublesome times, she would have probably left home long ago.

Meanwhile, at the penthouse of the luxury hotel Sunrise.

Sawyer was in the infinity pool with four pretty girls in mermaid suits on either side, trying to rub their bra-clad chests to him even though he didn’t seem interested.

“I’m staying here for peace not for pussy, so buzz off.” 

After trying their best, Sawyer still didn’t respond the way they wanted, so all the girls moved away from him while still winking and smiling at him, hoping he’d change his mind.

Sawyer’s mobile vibrated.

He pulled it out from his pocket which was underwater.

The mobile, which was nothing more than a piece of thin flexible plastic frame, was working just fine even though it was underwater for a while.

He answered the call. “Did you find a name?”

“Yes, Young Lord. The Fletcher family is behind the appearance of the New Moon Nether Rose herb,” Helia replied from the other side, hinting disgust through her tone.

“Where can I meet the head of that family?”

“They are having a grand auction tonight, so Vicky Fletcher should attend the auction,” Helia said. “They have a strict entrance policy, so I will mail you their invitation card and the items they’re selling tonight.”

“Don’t bother. I will enter the building one way or another.”

“Also, I bought the Goldblood company in your name for 3.2 billion dollars. It’s worth more, but because it’s you asking, they were willing to lower the price.”

“Well done,” Sawyer smiled. “I will reward you when I’m home.”

He then ended the call.

“The whole world is in chaos, and these bastards are selling dangerous drugs to fulfill their sick fantasies,” Sawyer’s gaze was filled with the sharpness of the wind. “Even though I’m suspended right now, I can’t overlook what they’re doing.”

Just then, he received an email listing the items being auctioned tonight.

When he saw the name ‘Evergreen Flower’ on the list, his eyes widened.

This was one of the three main ingredients required to treat his sister’s condition.

“Is this for real?”
