CHAPTER 06

As the night fell, a black benz left the Deville mansion.

Darius was in the driving seat, but he wasn’t even holding the steering wheel.

David sat next to him, and Sasha was in the back.

“Let’s buy the hyper sense pills tonight, Dad,” Darius requested. “They will help me crack the super soldier entrance test. Once I pass that test, I can apply for the Brilliant guild.”

“Each hyper-sense pill has a base price of 100K. So, if there are no other lucrative buys, we’ll buy as many hyper sense pills as you want,” David assured him and then glanced at his daughter. “Do you have anything you want?”

“You are asking me what I want, but I don’t want to marry Ashton, Dad,” Sasha quickly said. “He’s a cheap guy who doesn’t have minimum common sense or character. How can I share my life with such a guy?”

“Then why don’t you bring me someone who’s richer than Ashton Fletcher?” David retorted. “If you can’t do that, then shut up. You don’t know what’s good for you, so let me pave your way.”

Sasha could only curse Ashton under her breath. She was indeed approached by many rich men, but none of them were probably richer than the Fletcher family. (I have to expose Ashton’s dark side to my dad and everyone tonight. I hope he’s going to be there at the auction.)

Sasha opened her purse for a bubblegum, and she happened to notice the small pouch Sawyer had given her.

She opened the pouch, which was full of tiny crystals that somewhat reminded her of jelly candies from childhood. “He told me to eat these, but are these crystals really edible?”

A few minutes later.

The Fletcher auction site looked like a colosseum of sorts with a glass-dome for a ceiling, but it was actually a football stadium in the past, which was later remodeled to fit the auction atmosphere.

Hundreds of luxury vehicles were parked outside the site, and only those who had the invitation cards were allowed entrance through the outer gates.

Sawyer came by foot, with his hands in his pockets.

“Hold up,” one of the six guards stopped him. “This isn’t a place the likes of you can enter.”

“The likes of me? Do I look poor to you?” Sawyer asked them back because he was wearing a costly suit which Sunrise’s manager freely gave to him to make up for his mistake.

“You probably rented this suit somewhere, right?” the guards laughed as he didn’t even come in a car. “If you are really rich, then you would have come in a car.”

“I didn’t know a car was necessary to enter,” Sawyer retorted.

“Show us the invitation card, or give us a handsome commission. Otherwise, you can’t enter.”

A black benz just happened to arrive there.

A window opened, and Sasha spit out something from her mouth.

It fell on Sawyer’s body.

“I’m so sorry,” Sasha was quick to apologize but was then shocked that she spat on someone who just happened to be Sawyer.

Sawyer glanced at the ground and noticed that the thing Sasha had spit was likely one of crystals he had given.

“They don’t taste good, but they will do your body a whole lot of good,” Sawyer voiced his mind. “If you don’t want to feel troubled at nights, I advise you to eat them for a fortnight.”

Sasha didn’t say anything but let out a dismissive snort.

Darius, while showing the invitation card, noticed Denver and quickly told the guards, “That guy definitely doesn’t have an invitation card. He’s a fraud, so be careful.”

Darius then drove through the gate while showing a middle finger to Sawyer.

David noticed the pouch in Sasha’s hand. “You still have that bag with you? Throw it out.”

Sasha frowned and then tossed the pouch out of the car’s back window.

“Huh…” Sawyer walked over and picked up the pouch. “Sheesh, did I throw pearls before a pig? Well, at least she tried to taste one of these, so it’s not a complete failure.”

At that moment, the six guards blocked Sawyer’s path.

Sawyer kept staring at them without blinking.

“What’s with that look?” the guards asked. “You think you can get past us? Get lost before you hurt yourself.”

“You guys are being too arrogant,” Sawyer calmly but coldly said. “What will you do if I’m a super soldier?”

“Haha, if you’re a super soldier, then we’re supreme commanders,” the six guards boasted without shame.

“You guys are slightly better compared to average humans,” Sawyer said with a bit of a heavy voice, putting the pouch in his suit pocket with elegance, “but you shouldn’t compare yourself with the supreme commander even if it’s for fun.”

“Let’s see if you can still preach after you get the feel of our fists!” They started cracking their knuckles while putting on cocky smiles.

“If you want to even touch a single hair on me,” Sawyer calmly responded, “you would need at least tens of thousands of people of your caliber coming at me all at once.”

“We confront crackheads like you every day, and we are more than enough for dealing with a nobody like you,” the six guards tried to manhandle him, and their speed was faster than your typical humans.

These guards definitely had some enhancement in their physical capabilities, but Sawyer stood right where he was and dodged all of their attacks.

The six guards punched and kicked relentlessly, but none of them hit Sawyer, and he didn’t even seem to have moved an inch.

“H-How is this possible?”

“How is he doing it?”

“Is this sorcery?”

As the guards sweated and stood baffled, wondering if Sawyer was really a super soldier, Sawyer yawned and said, “Can I go inside now? Or do you want me to start swinging?”

“Nobody without an invitation card can enter,” the guards still stood their ground and also called for their superior by sending a pager message. “Wait until the guard captain arrives.”

Sawyer sighed. “Alright. I hope at least he has a brain in his head unlike you guys.”

“You little! How dare you disrespect our captain!” The guards lost their nerve and attacked him once more.

But the next second, all of them were hugging the ground and had no clue how they got defeated.

Just then, the scar-faced guard captain arrived there.

Seeing his subordinates on the ground, he immediately unsheathed his sword and leaped at Sawyer without warning. “Iron Cleaver!”

The swing of his sword generated a strong, cutting energy that hurled toward Sawyer’s neck.
