20. Comforting a mother
Kevin was shocked seeing his mother in tears. The mother that took care and nurtured him alone for sixteen years. He had never seen her shed tears.

"Mum, why are you crying?" He rushed to her.

"It's nothing." She tried to wipe her tears but more kept pouring out. "I'm fine."

"You are obviously not fine. What is it?"

She sniffled and said nothing.

"Mum, it's okay." He gently wrapped his arms around her, hugging her. He was almost as tall as her so he didn't have to stretch.

Lisa sobbed more in her son's embrace. "Your father died because of me."

"What?"

"If not for me, he wouldn't have run away from home with me to Texas. He would have never gone for that mission. He would still be alive."

"Don't talk like that, mum. Dad loved you." Kevin said, breaking the hug.

"Exactly." She sniffled. "His love for me made him do all of that. Maybe...if we just left each other then..."

"Mum, stop." Kevin covered her mouth. "It wasn't your fault."

"I don't know." Lisa said as Kevin slowly rem
