[ 3… 2… 1… Integration Complete. Ultimate System is now online ]

Rhys stared at the glowing blue screen hovering before his eyes, his mind struggling to process what he was seeing.

If not for the unmistakable presence of the system interface, he would have doubted whether his encounter with Dreavon had been real at all. The conversation, the revelation, even the god himself would have felt like nothing more than an elaborate dream brought on by shock and exhaustion. Yet the screen in front of him was undeniable proof that it had all truly happened.

Rhys read through every line carefully, absorbing the information with intense focus. He tapped the highlighted option beneath the list, pulling up more detailed explanations of each feature.

In its current state, the system revolved around six core functions. Among them, the daily missions and reward structure stood out the most, clearly intended to shape his growth from the very beginning.

It was overwhelming.

In less than a single day, Rhys had lost his sister, learned of gods and conspiracies, awakened as a Ascender, and inherited a mythical system. His entire life had been flipped upside down so abruptly that he barely had time to breathe.

Despite everything, he could not deny the strange surge of emotion that came with awakening as a Ascender. Ever since he was a child, that had been his only dream.

That was the very reason he had not been home on New Year’s Eve.

January first marked his eighteenth birthday, the day when the Tower often chose new Ascenders. The anxiety had eaten at him all day. He did not want Violet to see how nervous he was, so he had stayed at a friend’s place, convincing himself it was better to face the uncertainty alone.

He never imagined that, while he was gone, their home would be attacked.

He never imagined his sister would be taken.

Dreavon had been right. Whether he liked it or not, he was now part of something far bigger than himself.

Violet had chosen him. This system was her final gift to him, and possibly his only chance to bring her back.

“This is so messed up,” Rhys muttered, burying his face in his hands.

His voice carried farther than he realized.

The door to the medical ward slid open, and Emma stepped inside, having heard him stir.

“Well look who’s finally awake. Good morning,” she said in an impeccably formal tone.

Rhys blinked at her, still dazed.

Sunlight filtered through the windows at an angle that suggested early morning. A glance at the wall clock confirmed it was exactly seven o’clock.

Despite the hour, Emma looked flawless. She wore a neatly pressed skirt and a crisp blouse paired with a matching blazer. Her makeup was subtle but precise, and her hair was styled without a single strand out of place.

He stared before he could stop himself.

“Ugh, teenagers,” Emma muttered, rolling her eyes. Then she smiled faintly.

She put in far too much effort to look this composed every day, and she appreciated that someone noticed.

“I’m sorry,” Rhys said quickly. “I’ve just never seen someone dressed so perfectly who also manages to look that stunning.”

A hint of color touched Emma’s cheeks.

“Well, well. Violet’s little brother has a silver tongue,” she said lightly. “Did awakening turn you into a charmer?”

Rhys opened his mouth to respond, but Emma raised a finger.

“Stop right there, playboy. I am completely out of your league.”

He wisely chose silence.

“If you’re feeling stable, follow me,” Emma said, turning toward the door. “The guildmaster wants to see you. You woke up at the perfect time. He just arrived, and I can slip you in before his first meeting.”

Rhys followed her through the sprawling halls of the Tiger headquarters.

Even at seven in the morning, the building buzzed with activity. Ascenders moved through the corridors in small groups, some returning from training, others from breakfast or early meetings.

Rhys recognized them instantly.

That was Scott the Wall Breaker. Scarlet the Pyromancer. Voodoo Vaughn.

Seeing them in person was surreal. He had grown up watching their raids broadcast across the world, witnessing their legendary battles through screens. Standing among them now made his heart race.

What fascinated him even more was how they reacted to Emma.

No matter how intimidating or powerful they were, every Ascender stepped aside when she passed. They greeted her politely, some even nervously.

Emma was not a Ascender. She was a mortal.

Yet within these walls, she was feared.

“Has Ren arrived yet?” Emma asked the receptionist.

The clerk nodded. He had just entered.

Emma did not hesitate. She marched straight to the guildmaster’s office and pushed the door open without knocking.

“The kid woke up,” she announced.

Then she left, closing the door behind her.

Inside, Ren stood awkwardly, having barely had time to sit down.

“You could have at least said good morning,” he muttered.

The door opened again. Emma leaned in, fixed him with a glare, and said, “Work starts at seven sharp. Check your clock.”

She slammed the door shut.

Rhys shuddered.

That tone was identical to the one Violet and their mother used when they were furious. Even Ren, the strongest Ascender on Earth, looked like a man who had narrowly escaped death.

“Women,” Ren muttered quietly, making sure his voice did not carry beyond the door.

After Rhys was knocked out cold, Nubi in her hall god form carried Rhys to the rewards room where she placed him on an intricately carved mana table and connected various ancient devices to every major nerve in his body."A pure blooded human…. What a lucky boy, what ridiculous odds for him to be pure even after the tower has been on his planet for thousands of years" Nubi murmured to herself as she began the process of unlocking Rhys's latent DNA potential.Rhys was a pure blood human. Having only human DNA in his ancestry, which was extremely rare in the modern day and age.In this universe where the tower existed since the beginning of time, all the myriad different races interacted with each other since time immemorial and the concept of pure bloodlines had become blurred since ages.Across the cosmos, every species naturally underwent the processes of evolution and mutation, each at its own pace. This variability in evolutionary rates was largely dictated by environmental conditi

'I can't quit here….. I can't fail my sister. I can't fail myself. If I fall here, it will be all over. I will never be able to respect myself for having quit here. However, despite a part of his brain constantly urging him to quit, since if he did not, he would 'die', Rhys tried his best to conquer that feeling and push past it.Survival instinct was something ingrained deeply into one's mind.It was the base desire of any race, ingrained into them through millennia of evolution. It was the desire that told one that they were thirsty when their body was running low on water and the instinct that triggered the fight or flight reflex when one faced mortal danger.Currently, Rhys faced the full might of this instinct

By Day 75, Rhys had firmly concluded that enough was enough. He had accumulated a lot of penalties and was determined not to invite any more trouble. He felt satisfied with the progress he could potentially make by reaching Day 90, believing that five penalties were plenty and that it was unwise to push his luck further.Despite his reluctance, participation in the upcoming evaluation was non-negotiable. So, when Nubi gently informed him it was time to head to the ancestral hall, Rhys resigned himself to his destiny. He whimsically envisioned being hoisted onto Nubi's shoulders for the journey to the grand hall.Unfortunately, Rhys's loss of echolocation ability and touch sensitivity meant he was detached from his surroundings. Unable to discern his location at any moment, the journey to the hall—or even if he had left his bedroom—remained indistinguishable to him, blurring the lines between reality and imagination in his sensory-deprived world. It was only when he heard the hall god

Losing his voice was supposed to make Rhys's life harder, but to him it did not make much of a difference at all.He has started to grow tired of his own voice anyways and hence rarely spoke while alone. While he did miss trying to make Nubi laugh, it wasn't extremely bad either. She still chatted to him as if he could talk back and most times she understood what he wanted to say without him having to say anything, so their conversations, although one-sided, were still fun. After his fifth penalty, Rhys was reduced to an even more useless donut than he already was before as he became a borderline coma patient.Without his voice and movement, he no longer had any means to communicate with the outside world anymore as he had essentially become a plant. While he was still alive, could still think and hear, he was no longer able to show any form of response to his surroundings, as just like a plant he existed by being stationary in one place.Without his voice, he could no longer use the
