Smack! The crisp sound of my palm landing on Tyler's cheek resounded throughout the front yard.

Tyler now had a bright red handprint on his cheek, with some blood dribbling out of his mouth.

"You actually dared to hit me!" Tyler stared at me in shock.

He had always been the one to bully me. This was the first time I had ever hit him.

"You little bastard! How dare you hit my son! I'm going to kill you!" Jessie flew into a rage and came pouncing toward me.

I turned to the side to dodge her attack. Jessie missed and lost her balance, so she ended up falling flat on her face.

"Thrash him! Make sure he dies!" Tyler yelled hysterically at the hooligans he had brought along.

The hooligans immediately started charging toward me.

I was afraid that my mother would get hurt in this conflict, so I quickly ran toward the hooligans in order to move the fight further away from her.

To my horror, while I was fighting the hooligans, Tyler raised his wooden bat and swung it at my mother.

It was too late for me to stop this from happening, and I had to watch as Tyler struck my mother down with his bat.

"Mom!" I sent a hooligan flying with a kick, ran toward my mother, and helped her up. "Mom, are you all right?"

She claimed to be fine, but the pained look on her face gave her away.

"Tyler Floyd, you deserve to die!" I turned and hissed at Tyler.

"It's hard to say who will die first!" Tyler had a vicious look on his face as he swung his wooden bat toward my head.

I did not move aside or dodge the attack. When the wooden bat was about to hit my head, I raised one hand to catch the bat and used the other to grab ahold of Tyler's neck before silently whispering, "Profane Coil!"

A cloud of black smoke rose up, engulfed Tyler, then went straight into his body.

Tyler was a very healthy man who didn't suffer from any ailments, so casting Profane Coil on him wasn't going to kill him any time soon.

However, because the spell had destroyed his immune system, he would most likely be reliant on medication for the rest of his life.

At the same time, I noticed that the cloud of black mist in my head had decreased in size, and it was fainter than the cloud of gold mist next to it.

"You little bastard, let go of my son!" Jessie went absolutely ballistic when she saw my hand around Tyler's neck and started charging toward me again.

I disarmed Tyler by grabbing the wooden bat in his hands and flung him toward Jessie.

Jessie was not expecting this, which caused Tyler to crash straight into her, and they both fell to the ground.

Tyler became even more incensed now. He shouted loudly, "Attack him together! Kill him! Kill him!!"

The few hooligans who weren't injured started charging toward me.

"Since you're all tired of living, I'll send you on your way!"

I raised my wooden bat and swung it at the hooligan right in front.

Bam! The wooden bat hit the hooligan's head, making blood spurt all over the other hooligans next to him.

I swung the bat the other way to hit another hooligan, but he raised his arm to block my attack.

Crack! The hooligan's arm broke under my hit.

The rest quickly realized how dangerous I was and began swinging their bats at me.

They were no match for me as each swing of the wooden bat I made inflicted injury on at least one of them.

In less than a minute, all the hooligans were sprawled on the ground, with none of them being able to fight anymore.

Their cries and groans of pain filled the entire front yard.

I turned to look at Jessie and Tyler, only to see both of them trembling in fear and staring at me in horror.

"What… what do you want? I'm… I'm your aunt, so… so you can't…" Jessie was so scared that she could not stop stuttering and stumbling over her words.

"You're my aunt? Ha!" I scoffed. "You're claiming to be my aunt now? Didn't you just call me a little bastard who wasn't even a Floyd? Why are you suddenly claiming to be related to me now?"

"Will, I was wrong! I shouldn't have said that! Please forgive my ignorant words!" Jessie pleaded with me desperately. Her face was pale with fright.

"Fine, I'll forgive you for saying those things." Jessie was older, yet she apologized, so I decided to leave her alone.

I turned to Tyler. In turn, he started shaking in fear. "Will, I'm your cousin. Aren't we all one big family, so…"

"Shut up!" I cut him off with a loud shout. His words disgusted me. "Don't you dare make yourself sound like we're on close terms! If you want me to let you off, start slapping your mouth! Slap it till you can't speak! And you're not allowed to leave until I say so!"

"Okay, okay, I'll slap my own mouth, I'll slap my own mouth."

After saying that, Tyler started to slap his mouth again and again.

Smack! Smack! Smack! He slapped himself harder and harder each time. Eventually, it did not take long for his lips to completely swell up.

"Will, is this enough?" asked Tyler while wincing in pain.

I glared at him. "I told you to slap it until you couldn't speak. Didn't you hear me the first time?"

"I did, I did… I'll continue…" Tyler continued slapping himself after that.

My mother tugged at my shirt and said, "Will, that's enough. Let them go."

"Okay, Mom. I'll go with anything you say." I nodded.

Then, I turned to look at Jessie, Tyler and the other hooligans and barked, "You can get lost now! If you provoke me again, I won't let you off so easily the next time!"

"We don't dare to! We don't dare to!"

"There will be no next time!"

"That's right! We'd rather be beaten to death than provoke you again!"

The whole group promised not to do this again as they scrambled out of the gate.

After they had all left, I helped my mother back into the house.

"Mom, were Tyler and his mom telling the truth?" I asked immediately after my mother took a seat.

"Yes, it's true." She nodded.

"Can you tell me what really happened? Am I really not Dad's son? Then whose son am I?"

I was getting a little emotional. More than 20 years had passed, and nobody had ever told me that the man I had been calling "Dad" my whole life wasn't actually my biological father.

Who am I? Who is my biological father? I desperately wanted answers to these questions.

"Will, this whole matter is rather complicated, and it's going to take a long time to explain it properly. You just have to remember that you are my son, a son of Helen Gleeson. As for your biological father… just take it that he's dead."

Her eyes reddened when she talked about my biological father. I could see tears welling up in her eyes.

"Mom, why won't you tell me? I think I have the right to know my real father's identity!" I refused to give up asking and continued to press her for answers.

"Will, don't ask anymore. Please stop asking." Tears flowed down her cheeks, looking very heartbroken.

Seeing my mother cry made my heart feel like it was getting crushed to pieces. It hurt so terribly.

Only those who had been through such times would be able to understand this sort of pain.

"Mom, don't cry. I won't ask you about it anymore, I promise."

She nodded and took a few moments to calm down again. Her voice cracked as she said, "Will, I hope you won't blame me for not telling you. I kept it from you in order to protect you. It'll do you no good to know anything about this matter. Someone might even try to kill you for it."

Someone might try to kill me for it? Judging from my mother's expression, it seemed this matter was not as simple as it appeared to be.

Who on earth was my biological father? Why did my mother say that knowing his identity might result in my murder? What was she protecting me from?

Many questions popped up in my head, but I didn't dare to ask my mother.

I knew that my mother didn't want to tell me the truth because I lacked the strength to face these potential dangers.

I was a sorcerer now. I was sure that it wouldn't take me long to become powerful enough.

Once I had the strength to, and my mother was confident that I could take on these dangers, I would make sure I got to the bottom of this!

Riiiiing… Just then, my mother's phone started ringing.

Her face instantly paled when she saw who was calling.

"Mom, what's wrong?" I glanced at her phone, but it only showed the caller's number, which clearly meant whoever was calling was not a saved contact in her phone. So, I could not understand why she reacted this way.

"I'm fine, let me take this call," she said as she grabbed the phone and returned to her room.

I grew even more puzzled when I heard my mother lock her room door.

Who was calling my mother? Why did her expression look like that? She was obviously very frightened! Who on earth could frighten my mother so much with a simple phone call?

My mother stepped in front of me and intervened."Out of my way, bitch! Or I'll take you out with the trash, too!" The woman pointed her fingers at my mother's face."How dare you say such a thing!" my mother retorted, perfectly giving off the energy of a hen protecting her chick."I do dare, and I'll do more than that too!"The woman harrumphed. "Get them!
