Lex jolted awake, sitting up as he yelled, "Please don't kill me!" "Not yet!" His eyes were heavy; he was drenched in an ocean of sweat from top to bottom. Something was definitely strange; he was sure he was dead a few moments ago.

He opened his eyes; around him was an unending white mist, in which he floated amidst. "What is this place?" "Am I dead or alive?" Lex muttered to himself.

He was so engrossed in the mist he barely noticed the stray hair dangling down towards his forehead. It was blonde.

Lex was shocked; the last time he saw his hair, he remembered it was pitch black, no less. "Where am I?" He felt a sudden ache in his head and around his body.

He tried to scream but couldn't, as a severe pain coursed through his entire being. Strange memories began forcing their way into his head – foreign memories. He muttered through the pain, "What's going on?"

About thirty minutes later, Lex could move again. He felt absolutely different. He took a stare at his hands; there were various callouses attached at various parts. A translucent screen flashed right before his eyes; he touched the screen, it flickered. The screen showed his reflection. Lex was amused at what he saw – a perfect jawline, matching the sharpness of a blade, glowing blue eyes, and a well-structured teenage face.

He held his face with both of his hands, caressing it.

He had a few doubts, but all that was happening to him could only mean he had been transmigrated into another person's body.

{Ding!}

{Welcome host! To the survival system}

{Main objective: upgrade from your servant role to a new occupational role.}

"Huh," muttered Lex as an emotionless voice echoed in his mind. A bunch of messages also appeared on the translucent screen ahead of him. He stood up as he held his breath. "System, is that you?"

 {Yes host}

"Yes!" Lex spoke, clenching his fists. Tears of water threatened to fall from his eyes; he was thrilled, finally, he yearned.

 Back on Earth, his life was boring. All Earth could offer was nothing but normalcy, a simple life, and nothing more. Multidimensional beings never invaded to spark an interdimensional war.

 Though he seemed to have loved it, the truth was, he despised it – a whole lot. That was why he had immersed himself in comics, manga, and novels, to keep out of the world.

But now, now the moment any Isekai fan had always dreamed of – the system, had just awakened right before him. "Looks like my boring life is finally over," Lex spoke to himself.

"Maybe I could go on a quest to slay the demon king." "And probably join an adventurer guild in the process, even get married on the way. What should I choose – demon baddies, elven baddies, or beast kin baddies?

 I am so excited!"

He then heard the cold, emotionless voice of the system speak again. {Host, please refrain from daydreaming; you're in the middle of the noble's party}

Lex was shocked to the hilt as the translucent screen vanished. He hadn't noticed he was no longer in the white mist anymore.

The system was right; he was amidst a noble's party. Now all eyes were on him. He hadn't even realized he was holding a tray filled with glass cups. He looked down at his outfit; he wore a pale leather wear with some ragged brown leather boots, stained in all parts.

He glanced around; the interior of the building was well-designed, bronze templates attached to the wall as decor. Lex was sure he had heard music, which had now stopped because of his continuous bickering about adventure guilds and baddies. He quickly glanced around, analyzing the situation.

With the aid of the foreign memories, he understood a few things – that he was at a party for the noble's daughter, as he could see her standing in the middle of the hall in a dazzling and most exotic dress.

Her beauty overshadowed all that were around her.

Lex's left hand was immediately held as he was pinned to the ground by a knight who suddenly appeared behind him. Lex balanced the tray, dropping it on the ground. "My apologies, Sire Barristan," the knight spoke, his voice slightly cracking as he seemed afraid. The knight then went ahead to bow curtly, pushing Lex further to the ground.

"I ask for forgiveness for Gorin's unruly behavior, sire. It won't happen again." Lex recognized the knight from somewhere but where?

He asked himself, baffled. The knight wore thick, shining green leather armor, two cups of steel attaching the chest plate to both of his shoulders, a helmet on his head.

 He held a sword in his hand. He was slightly taller than Lex (in his Gorin form), with a strong build and a cape flowing at his back.

Sire Barristan nodded, positioning his half-filled cup forward as he spoke. "As a watchful treat, this servant would be executed tomorrow." There was a corresponding shout of gladness from the others that stood by in the hall. A look of absolute fear crossed Lex's face as he was being pulled out of the hall. He just got reincarnated; how could this possibly be happening? "I'm finished," muttered Lex as the knight dragged him out of the hall.

After a few minutes of continuous walking, they arrived at a regular dungeon. The dungeon was dark except for a few torches hung on the wall. Centimeters apart from each other, they lit up the place. Rats nonchalantly strutted from one cell to another, with no care for who or what was passing by.

Ignoring these, Lex asked the system a question. "So, what type of system are you? Level up type, harem type, mission type, ascension type?"

{I'm a survival system; my sole purpose is to assist you in surviving in the dangerous world of Aetheria}

Lex blinked in disbelief.

As he spoke, "System, could you repeat that?"

{I'm a survival system; my objective is to help you in surviving in the dangerous world of Aetheria}

That's when it occurred to Lex, the reason he seemed to recognize the knight. He had somehow reincarnated in his novel as a side character, and yet this was no ordinary novel.

It was the world of Aetheria, which he had crafted to favor the elite.

Lex snapped out of his reverie as he was flonged by the green armored knight into one of the empty cells.

 The knight then locked it with a bunch of chains. He sat up, pausing, then closed his eyes. The translucent screen appeared once more.

  • Kate

    Lex slowly got out of the pond with the help of the green armoured knight; he hit the ground, shivering; his body stained with blood from top to bottom; an evil darting smile carved across his well-shaped face; he defeated the boss.{Congratulations!}{You defeated the blood lust Qalupalik!}{Job change quest accomplished}{Job change in procedure...}Lex turned to the side, shocked to see Kate laid directly beside him."What happened?" He asked Dane, quite agitated."She's gone," Dane spoke, shaking his head to and fro."That's all you ever do!" Snarled Lex as he positioned Kate well on his laps.He then felt her chest; Dane wasn't wrong about her being dead; he couldn't feel her heartbeat again!"This cannot be possible," thought Lex in his mind; "system, is there any way you could help me?""System?" Dane asked, confused.The system was silent for a second, then.. {Donate mana stones for an elixir of restoration.} The mechanical voice of the system answered plainly."How many do I

  • Dungeon Boss

    There was a loud rumbling sound from the pond behind her; she shifted, turned; bubbles floated from the pond continuously.Slowly emerging from the midst of the bubbles was a large red Qalupalik; its eyes, blood shot, sent tremors of fear into Kate's body as she gazed at it.It was larger than the others they had fought with earlier; the edges of its scales were red, it had four large elastic fins, each pierced with a red bracelet, barely fitting the pond area.It shot a fin at Kate; she leapt, twirling on air as she landed steadily, further towards the back, purring loudly.She then summoned her beast form; her body restructured at a quick rate.There was an instant release of energy from the Red Qalupalik; it dazed Kate for a few seconds; her transformation paused along with her movement; she no longer had control of her body.The Qalupalik immediately used the opportunity to lunge another fin at her.It wrapped the dazed Kate tightly, hurling her towards the pond; Kate used all of

  • Slaying goblins

    They were three large holes, dug through the ragged wall, a faint glimmer reflecting from each.Kate closed her eyes, sniffing through the holes."What do you sense, Kate?" Asked Lex."They're all filled with various crystalline rocks along with other treasures. Which should we go then?""None are safe; they are all teeming with monsters.""Wait here," interrupted Dane, "I'll go through the one on the left; when I'm done slaying the remaining goblins, you can all join, and mine."Each of the prisoners accepted.Except Elle, who had a mischievous smirk attached to her face.Lex watched the green armoured knight enter into the hole on the left.From the decision Dane took, it was obvious he didn't have a lot of experience with dungeons; if a dungeon never collapsed, it meant somewhere within, the boss of the dungeon was still alive."System?" Echoed Lex in his mind.{Yes host} The mechanical voice of the system answered."I know it's not a total part of your programming, but in order f

  • Dungeon Raid

    Dane walked up to Nox. "I've been sent by the noble's daughter to escort the slaves into the dungeon.""Escort?" Nox asked, surprised, glancing at the prisoners who were now beaming with joy; he proceeded to ask Dane more questions.Lex knew the noble's daughter had some interest in him, but sending Dane, a gifted knight, to watch over him was more than expected.He pondered for a while but didn't come up with any form of answer; it was probably her using him as some sort of pawn.He, along with Dane and the others, proceeded into the dungeon through the rope, landing directly on muddy ground.Lex glanced around; the dungeon was dimly lit, with a bunch of crystalline rocks; the prisoners immediately rushed and began picking them.Lex was about to join in when Kate stopped him with her hand."What's wrong, Kate? We're going to fall behind. Let's go deeper; there should be more down there."Lex nodded his head as he followed; after a few steps of walking further, Kate stopped in her tra

  • A Daughter's Request

    I have a request of mine too, Elle continued."A request?" Lex thought to himself, "what could it possibly be?"'Ask on, your highness," Lex spoke as he stole a glance of the noble's daughter; she was even more perfect than he had described in the story, she seemed stunned as she also got a clear look of his face.Elle then cleared her throat as she spoke, "I would like you to join the ongoing lower hand quest in the city of Greyl."Lex's face went blank; that was the least of his expectations.The noble's daughter had just indirectly asked him on what he would have called an earthly date, but through strenuous and dangerous means.The lower hand quest was a quest which could be tried by every man in the city or even beyond the city of Greyl, whether with the ability of a knight or not; that included servants like Lex.The competition involved going on various raids to dangerous dungeons and surviving in each; after the last raid, which would be the most dangerous, each of the knights

  • A Daughter's Favor

    In the small city of Greyl, there is only one noble, A knight, sire Barristan who is one out of many nobles in the world of Aetheria, he only punishes his offenders in three ways."Either they become his servants or maidens or he sells them as servants or maidens or uses them to gather resources in the advent of a raid. It's only very rare for him to execute a slave," Kate enlightened Lex.A thoughtful look appeared on Lex's face, he absolutely knew all that she had said but wasn't going to miss the slightest opportunity of engaging her in a conversation."So sire Barristan's declaring my execution was merely a bluff to show to the other noble's who had attended his daughter's party.""Yes," confirmed Kate, a warm smile forming on her face."Looks like we'll get to pick up dungeon resources together then," Lex spoke, smiling sheepishly."Not really," female slaves are usually rarely allowed to participate in dungeon works.She then murmured, "I'll likely be sold to a tavern or used as
