“Second life?”

Morgan touched the screen, but his finger immediately passed through it. Before he could understand what was happening, his head suddenly began to hurt.

Morgan held his head as foreign memories flowed into his mind.

The name Morgan, a freshman college student, nineteen years old.

A very ordinary life. Going to campus, doing assignments, returning to his residence, then repeating everything the next day.

However, there was one problem. The owner of this body was often the target of bullying.

His belongings were hidden or his money was taken. He was often pushed, mocked, and even beaten several times by other students.

Morgan fell silent after all the memories had finished.

“...Seriously?”

He let out a long sigh. Of all the lives he could have gotten after dying, he had ended up with the body of a college student who was the victim of bullying.

Such a cliché story.

However, after thinking about it further, Morgan actually felt relieved. If the only problem was a few students who liked to harass him, it was not a big deal.

“At least this life is safe.”

For the first time in years, Morgan felt that his wish might actually have come true.

A peaceful and safe life. He could even enjoy his meals without having to worry about whether he would still have something to eat tomorrow.

Morgan had just imagined that when the System’s voice sounded again.

[Please leave the room immediately.]

[The first mission will be triggered after leaving the room.]

[Failure to complete the mission will result in electrical punishment.]

[The target will be shocked until unconscious.]

Morgan’s expression immediately changed.

“Isn’t that a little excessive?”

He stared at the door in front of him. Actually, he wanted to sit for a while and understand the situation. But if the System really could shock him until he passed out just because he failed to carry out a mission, it would be better to get out first.

Morgan slowly stood up, then walked toward the door. His hand touched the doorknob, but the door was locked from the outside.

Then he sighed.

“All right.”

He took several steps back and assumed a stance. Then his foot slammed hard into the door, making it tremble.

Morgan kicked it again, and the door finally broke open with a loud crash. The people not far away were immediately startled.

“He... he got out! How could—”

“Is that weakling... really this strong now?”

Morgan did not care. He simply walked out, passing several students who were still standing there with shocked expressions. Not a single one of them dared to stop him.

He walked toward the corridor, but after a few steps, he stopped. His eyes slowly widened.

Sunlight entered through the large windows at the end of the corridor. Outside, a completely different world stretched out before him.

People walked casually while carrying bags. Several students talked to one another. A bus passed along the road with the normal sound of its engine. The sky was blue, and the trees grew peacefully.

Morgan stood still.

“...Peaceful.”

Only that one word came out of his mouth.

He went down toward the campus grounds and continued looking around. Every little thing felt foreign to him. Even the laughter of students joking around sounded like something he had not heard in a very long time.

For ten years, the only world he had known was one filled with death.

Morgan took a deep breath.

“So this is what the world was like before everything ended...”

He almost smiled when a ball flew quickly across the field.

Morgan immediately looked in its direction. There stood a female student with her back turned to him. The ball was flying straight toward her.

Morgan simply watched. There was no reason for him to interfere.

In his previous world, he had already grown accustomed to seeing women fighting against zombies. Even some of the women he knew were much stronger than him. If this girl got hit by the ball, she would probably just fall.

None of his business.

He was about to continue walking.

Ding!

[Mission triggered.]

Morgan stopped.

[Mission: Hug the target.]

“...What?”

He stared at the girl in front of him, then looked at the ball that was getting closer.

[Complete the mission: Hug the target before the ball hits her.]

Morgan did not move.

“...Hug?”

[Yes.]

Morgan looked at the girl again, his expression slowly changing.

“This is my second life and my first mission...”

Morgan pointed at the girl, who was completely unaware that a ball was flying toward her.

“...is to hug a woman?”

“I’m starting to feel like my second life won’t be as peaceful as I hoped.”

Back then, threats like that were not something that could be taken lightly. However, he also knew that people who lived in peace did not always have the courage to face violence, especially when they had never truly experienced it.Carew was not a fighter. He even seemed to struggle with lifting a college bag that was too heavy, so it was no wonder he was frightened after being threatened by a group of bullies.Morgan sighed.“Alright. We’ll deal with tomorrow’s problems tomorrow.”Carew quickly raised his head.“Huh? But, Bro, they—”“It’s late. I’m tired, and I want to sleep.”Morgan stood up, then pointed at the sofa Carew was sitting on.“Are you staying over or not? If you are, sleep on the sofa. If not, close the door behind you when you leave.”After saying that, he walked toward his bedroom while yawning. He had no interest in spending his night thinking about a group of bullies who might not even be strong enough to make him lift a finger.Besides, there was still time to de

However, just as that thought crossed his mind, the original owner’s memories resurfaced. This person’s name was Carew. His classmate at college, and also the only friend he was fairly close to.Morgan slowly lowered his hands. He looked at the man who was still crying against his chest, then let out a long sigh. It seemed his new life had given him not only an apartment, college friends, and the chance to enjoy delicious food, but also a friend who appeared to have some serious problems.“Alright,” Morgan said, awkwardly patting Carew’s back. “Now stop crying and explain what happened.”Carew lifted his face. Tears still welled up behind his glasses, and his lips trembled as if he had just heard the cruelest question in the world.“Bro... they’re going to kill me!”Morgan fell silent. The remaining smile on his face slowly disappeared.Morgan looked at Carew, who was still clutching his shirt with a pale face. After letting out a long sigh, he finally opened the apartment door and pu

After wandering around for quite a while, he finally stopped at a crowded barbecue stall. The meat grilling over the charcoal sizzled, while the aroma of rendered fat and charred seasoning made his stomach growl again.Morgan immediately sat down in an empty chair.“Sir, I want satay. A lot of it!”The stall owner looked at him for a moment. “How many skewers?”Morgan studied the grill seriously, as if he were making an important decision that would determine the fate of humanity.“Twenty for now.”“Twenty?!”“If I’m still hungry, I’ll order more.”The stall owner fell silent, unsure whether the man in front of him was joking. However, seeing Morgan take out his money without hesitation, he finally nodded and began preparing the order. Not long afterward, a large plate of satay was placed in front of Morgan, along with a bowl of sauce and several side dishes. Morgan’s eyes lit up, and he picked up the first skewer, biting into the meat with great anticipation.Tender. Savory. The seas

Morgan only stopped running after making sure no one was chasing him. He slipped into a narrow alley between two old buildings, then leaned against the cold wall while catching his breath. It was already night, and the streetlights could only illuminate part of the alley’s entrance. The farther inside one went, the darker and quieter it became, enough to make an ordinary person think twice before entering.Morgan let out a long sigh.“Alright, System. I’m ready.”He closed his eyes, putting on a resigned expression like a soldier about to accept his death sentence. After making him run around like a madman, all he could do now was hope the electric shock wouldn’t hurt too much. However, several seconds passed without anything happening.Morgan opened one eye.“...Is that it?”[Ding!][Congratulations, Host!][Mission successfully completed.]Morgan immediately opened both eyes. He stared at the narrow ceiling above the alley with a confused expression, as if hoping someone could expla

Morgan remained silent, trying to figure out how to complete the System’s ridiculous mission without having to do anything excessive. However, his silence only gave Angel an opportunity to move.Angel suddenly stepped on Morgan’s foot, then swiftly twisted her body while swinging her elbow toward the man’s stomach. Her movements were sharp and decisive, as if she genuinely intended to take Morgan down before he could react.Unfortunately, her opponent was not someone who could be dealt with in an ordinary way.Morgan tilted his body slightly to avoid Angel’s elbow, then caught her arm. When Angel tried to use the momentum to break free, Morgan immediately moved behind her and switched their positions in one smooth motion. Before Angel could even realize what had happened, Morgan had already restrained both of her hands behind her back. One of Morgan’s hands locked both of her wrists in place, while his other arm wrapped around Angel’s neck. His fingers only touched her lightly, not ac

Morgan looked at Angel without any complex change of emotion, but it was clear that he was not particularly pleased either.“I disagree, Senior. I was just joking earlier.”Angel stopped and turned around.“What? Joking?”“Yes, I was just joking. So please let me go.”Morgan was still sitting on the chair with both hands tied behind his back. Strangely, there was not even the slightest hint of panic on his face. He even looked far too relaxed for someone who had just been ordered to be thrown into the sea.Angel narrowed her eyes.“Unfortunately, that decision isn’t yours to make.”She stepped closer until she was standing directly in front of Morgan. Then she leaned down slightly and pointed at the man’s face with one finger.“If you haven’t realized it yet, your life and death are now in my hands.”Morgan looked at the finger in front of his face, then slowly shifted his gaze to Angel’s narrowed eyes.“You’re annoying. I have no reason to let you live.”Morgan fell silent. This time
