Chapter 8

After Callista managed to get Steve away from the Cattegirn family mansion, she finally loosened her grip on Steve's arm.

Steve Hart glanced at his surroundings, it was a street with trees on the right and left sides. There are almost no other houses, because the area is indeed an elite area where the distance between houses is quite far.

Steve Hart, who already knew there was something bad Callista wanted to do to him, immediately put his guard up because the unexpected could happen at any time.

Sure enough, not long from behind one of the trees appeared a man who was none other than Eric Daran.

"Is he going to help you to make me regret it?" asked Steve Hart to Callista.

Callista just didn't respond, in addition, Eric continued to walk closer before swinging his fist at Steve.

Steve Hart, who was alert from the start, was able to avoid the punch quite easily, this made Eric even more dark eyes by continuing to try to land his punches on Steve.

In the middle of each of Eric's punches, Steve got the chance to punch back and he didn't waste the opportunity.

Steve's swing managed to land right on the face of Eric who had only been focused on attacking, making Eric stagger before grimacing in pain.

"Rubbish, since when did you become this brave?" Eric Daran asked angrily.

"If by brave you mean by hitting you, the person who keeps bothering me for no reason, then that's what I have to do," said Steve Hart.

Eric Daran in the midst of his pain immediately glanced at Callista, the woman seemed surprised by what had just happened in front of her.

Callista Cattegirn was initially incredulous when Eric contacted her saying Steve had dared to seek trouble with her, Eric also asked Callista to take Steve out of the Cattegirn family mansion so he could avenge him.

Callista who had a similar grudge against Steve without hesitation agreed to Eric's request, thinking Eric just wanted to bully Steve for fun so he used revenge as an excuse.

Who would have thought that it turned out that a trashy figure like Steve was indeed brave to Eric, making Eric's revenge reason even more plausible and could be the truth.

"Callista, do you know what has hit this bastard's head to make him behave like this?" asked Eric Daran, his pride really hurt.

"I don't know, he even dared to mess with me yesterday," said Callista Cattegirn feeling equally confused.

The Steve Hart the two knew was not this brave, even when bullied so badly, Steve Hart would usually just keep quiet without daring to fight back.

"Why are you surprised? Is this the only way you're going to get revenge?" asked Steve Hart, getting fed up with the duo's behaviour.

Callista Cattegirn and Eric Daran, who were already annoyed, were immediately provoked after hearing Steve Hart's words.

"Rubbish, don't think it's going to end here!" exclaimed Eric Daran.

Eric Daran, who had already prepared something if something like this happened, immediately smiled broadly as if victory was certain for him.

Steve Hart, who had known Eric's character for a long time, was immediately on the lookout for any foul plans he might have to mess with him.

Not long after that, from behind some nearby trees, five men with large bodies began to appear.

"So this is what gives him confidence," muttered Steve Hart.

Eric Daran's smile turned sardonic at Steve's caution, after which he said, "You think you're worthy of tangling with me? Hahaha, I only have to spend a little money to finish you off. This is the difference between us, rubbish!"

Steve Hart chuckled in response, there were 5 big guys with bodies twice his size. Steve realised there wasn't much he could do if those five guys really wanted to do something to him.

"You guys, what are you waiting for? Hurry up and finish this rubbish!" Eric Daran ordered the five men.

The five immediately surrounded Steve Hart, blocking his path so he couldn't escape.

"Don't blame us, we're only doing this for the big bucks we'll get," one of them said.

Right after that remark, the five men lunged at Steve.

Steve Hart, who had no room to dodge or run, eventually had to take a beating from them.

Not just one punch, but several from many different directions.

The fist blows were so big from all five of them, it was enough to make Steve feel a bone shift every time they hit.

It didn't take long for each blow to send Steve crashing to the ground, leaving him on his back as he tried to protect his head.

Steve Hart's mind was in complete disarray; he didn't know what to do as the blows kept coming even when he was on the ground unable to fight back.

After a while, the five men finally stopped landing their punches on Steve.

"Mr. Eric, we've beaten him as you ordered," said one of the five.

"Good, now you just have to wait for me to finish him off before getting paid," Eric Daran said as he approached Steve.

Eric Daran crouched down near where Steve was lying, not long after, he grabbed Steve's hair to align their eyes.

"How was it? Have you suffered enough to want to beg for mercy?" asked Eric Daran.

Steve Hart was silent for a while not responding to Eric's words, after which Steve did something that no one there thought he would do.

"That's a sign of my mercy," said Steve Hart after spitting in Eric's face.

Eric's expression turned furious, what Steve just did really managed to make him very angry.

"Bastard, you're going to die!" cried Eric Daran as his hand reached for a nearby boulder.

Eric Daran really wanted to smash the boulder into Steve's head, but before that could happen, Callista had already stopped him.

"Hey, do you really want to finish him off?" asked Callista, a worried look on her face.

Of course it wasn't Steve that Callista was worried about, but rather the legal issues that might ensnare her because she was involved.

"Of course I'm going to finish him, didn't you see this scum just dare to spit on me?"

"Fool, you think we'll get away with it once this is known to the police?" Callista Cattegirn said.

Eric Daran laughed out loud, after which he said, "If that's what you're worried about, then take it easy. Don't we just have to spend some money to keep the police quiet?"

The debate between Callista and Eric really made Steve feel disgusted, if only because of money the two of them dared without hesitation to do this kind of thing to him, then Steve would not mind doing the same.

"Money? You think you're the only ones have it?" muttered Steve Hart in the midst of his anger.
