Chapter 5

Arnold went to his library. He sat there thinking. Where could his brother had hidden the laptop. He grabbed his phone and began to dial.

"Sander's here." The police officer replied.

"Its me."

"Did the boy speak?"

"He knows nothing. I'm convinced "

"And the laptop?"

"He doesn't know anything about it "

"Good. We have to keep it that way. Is it safe?"

"The laptop?"

"Yes."

"I told you that my people are reliable. We will only release him once his spilled the beans. We need that weapon."

"Don't forget my share."

"You know me well. I won't."

"What about the prisoner?"

Arnold rolled his eyes.

"What about him?" He asked.

"After his done his job, do we keep him?"

"He is still my brother. We can't kill him.",

"But he is a loose strand."

"He won't have anything to say because he is heavily drugged."

"But he will remember our faces."

"He won't. He'll be so messed up in the head that doctor's will recommend he goes to a mental hospital."

The police officer chuckled.

"You dirty, dirty bastard." He said.

What Arnold had not noticed was that Nathan had overheard his entire conversation and had been recording it.

"Business is business. We all want to be wealthy right?"

"Definitely."

"Goodnight officer. Greet the kids for me."

"Sure ain't."

"Better not." Arnold said laughing out.

Nathan ran back to his room with tears in his eyes.

He could not believe that his uncle was capable of such evil. It made him wonder how many things he had done to Simon. Was this the first evil plan had he conspired against his own brother? He wondered. Nathan was completely saddened by the entire situation. It all seemed to be a bomb on him. First, it was meeting with the supposed girlfriend of his father and now, it was the revelation of his uncle's evil plot. Who was he supposed to trust now? He wondered. The endless conflicts, the secrecy. He wanted to know more. And if possible expose the corrupt police officer that was working with Arnold. Even though he did not know the name of the police officer, he was going to find him at all costs and let justice be served, finally. And of a man of the law was willing to work with a criminal to obtain a weapon then how many other bad people were after it? How many other people would have to die over his fathers genius? Nathan had countless questions, but one that ran through his mind the most was where his father was. He worried about his safety and whether or not he was being fed or left to starve. Even though he did not know if he was alive, Arnold's conversation on the phone gave him hope that he would meet his father once again in the future. He was more than willing to stand up for him and though their relationship between them had problems, Nathan was not going to allow his fathers enemies to win.

"Get up!"

Simon awakened from the sudden feel of cold water being poured on his body. .

Because of the heavy drugs, the person who was standing in front of him was blurry in his sight. But he could recall that it was a woman.

"Who are you?" He asked, in a weak voice.

The drugs weighed heavily on his body. His limbs were completely weak. He could not move as he used to.

"Whatever they are paying, I'll double it." He criedn

But the person in the black mask would not budge. She grabbed an injection and lifted it up for Simon to see.

"What's that black stuff?"

The woman did not reply. She grabbed Simons arm and inserted the needle. The black substance entered through his system and began to show effects.

Simon screamed as if something was being pierced from within his body.

"It burns. Make it stop!" He pleaded.

Suddenly, another person in a black mask entered the room. The person was also female. She carried a laptop in her hands. The woman moved towards Simon.

"The code, give it to me." She said in a low calm voice.

"That..that's my laptop. Where'd you get it?"

"The code now!" The woman said, in a sharp tone.

Simon felt unsettled. He wondered why was his laptop pass code important.

"What do you want to do on my laptop?"

"Code or you will die!" The woman shouted.

Simon became fearful.

"Alright then. I will do it." He said.

The two women looked at him anxiously as he began to press on the buttons. However, they were startled by a noise coming from the other room. The door to the dark room was shot many times. Simon grabbed his laptop and hid at the corner, while the two women went on to defend themselves the person who was shooting at the hard steeled door. Suddenly, the door bust opened then a person entered. Simon could only hear punching and tackling. He heard a few gunshots until there was only silence in the room.

The man tried to get up even though he was heavily drugged. But he could not run. He fell to the floor with his knees and his face pointed down with tears in his eyes. Like a sheep about to be slaughtered. He saw a person walk towards him. He could not tell if that person was a woman because the dosage in his system was deterioting his vision as well as reacting badly in his body. The person walked toward him, then began to analyze Simon's breathing as well as his eyes, by holding a small torch with its light entering his eyes.

"Hey you. It seems you were late for your date." Said the person in a woman's voice.

"Pauline is that you?"

"Yes. You're safe now."

Simon smiled slightly, then lost consciousness.

Pauline as well as two other people grabbed Simon and carried him out of that dark place. Then they drove away with their black SUV car's.
