Chapter 6

Nathan woke up feeling tired as he was having a sleepless night. His thoughts were on his father, whether he was still alive. He noticed that his uncle was not at the house as his car was gone. The teenager looked up at the ceiling and noticed a camera had been newly installed in the house. That made him feel unsettled. He took a bath and left without even eating. He no longer trusted his uncle. If he could plot his own brother, who was he to him? He thought to himself.

As he took a stroll in the neighborhood, he heard a hooting sound of a car.

He turned his gaze and noticed that Pauline was inside of it. The teenage boy quickly ran towards it. Then entered at the back seat.

"Can you take me out of here!" The boy cried.

"I'm afraid I can't. Things have changed." Said Pauline.

"What do you mean things have changed?"

"You will have to stay here and look out for Arnold. If you run away from him now, you will look suspicious."

Nathan breathed out heavily.

"I need a gun then." He said.

"A gun for what?"

"Protection, in case.."

"I have people. They will be your protection. If Arnold should try to harm you, my guys will kill him, immediately and my men never miss a shot."

Nathan breathed heavily in disappointed.

"Here. Only use it when you need to." Said Pauline, giving the young teenager a small bottle of pepper spray.

Nathan smiled.

"Oh yeah." He said then left.

Pauline drove away till she arrived in an isolated warehouse.

She and her colleague's got out of the car. None of them used their normal name's.

"Boss, don't you think giving the kid a gun would be more helpful than just pepper spray?" One of the woman asked.

"Agent S. That kid is a teenager who knows nothing about guns. He has not been trained in a militia school like you have."

"And now he knows our faces, he could report us " said the second woman.

"Indeed, he does agent H. But rest assured he will not report us to anyone because he has not reported me."

The two women were not at ease. They had their own doubt's.

"Arnold should not be underestimated. Putting that kid in that environment with him is a risk. The man is dangerous." Said Pauline.

The two agents nodded in agreement.

"When do we tell him, he's father is safe?" Agent S asked.

"We can't, its too early. Besides who knows how many men are after that laptop."

"Is the weapon the only thing their after?"

"I am not sure. If that's what they really wanted alone, they could gave gone to Arnold."

"I think its because he knew that it was illegal."

"Makes sense now. I'll have to search more on him "

"Yes boss."

Bently industries 9:45 am.

Arnold had been compiling his files, getting ready for a busy day. Though it was cold, sun rays making their way into his office were enough to keep the office warm. The phones were ringing endlessly, most of them were coming from journalist hungry for a story. Arnold simply answered them with "no comment". But that did not satisfy the journalists, they continued on calling. Suddenly, office Sander's made his way into the office.

"Mr Bently." He said.

"My secretary didn't tell me you're on the way."

The police officer chuckled.

"I told her i wanted to surprise you. But her expression was not very welcoming."

"She was probably scared."

"I'll have to check if she has any record."

Arnold chuckled.

"I don't think you'll find any. I don't hire crooks." He said.

"You mean she's never seduced you then blackmail you?"

"Sir, might I remind you that I am not married. Which means that I have nothing to lose."

"Oh but we both know how important your reputation is to you, don't we?"

Arnold rolled his eyes, in annoyance.

"There must be a good reason you came here. If not, you can leave my building right now." He said.

The police officer chuckled.

"Offensed already? I thought you were steel. I guess I was wrong about you."

"Why are you here?"

"My boys got a call that there was a burning building, I went there for a look and found two bodies, women."

"What has that got to do with me?"

"Well, that building is the same one you gave me a tour in, remember before we put your brother as a prisoner there?"

Arnold was in shock.

"Where is he?" He asked.

"For now, he's missing."

"Fuck!"

"I can't keep cleaning after your mess. Find your brother first before the police do. We can't risk him spilling the beans on us."

"How did the two women die?"

"From what I've been told by the forensic team. They died from multiple gunshots as well as dust which means that the building was exploded."

"The gasoline must have triggered the fire."

"Exactly."

"Did you at least find any finger print's?"

"None. The job was obviously done by a professional. Do you know who might have done it?"

Arnold exhaled heavily.

"I don't know yet, but I will find out." He said.

"Good. That's what I want to here. Anyway, best I be on my way. We'll keep in touch won't we?"

"Of course."

The police officer fixed his hat and walked out.

Arnold sat there puzzled, wondering who could have abducted Simon. He tried to call on some of his contacts to conduct research and find the other people he had hired to look after his prisoner. He waited for a call but was getting impatiet after an hour had passed.

The search was getting tiring. He stood up from his chair then fixed himself a cup of coffee to rid of his stress.
