“Bang bang!” A banging on the door filled the room.

“Open up, Scum Feng. We know you are in there.”

The formation of a Spirit Dao Heart took the whole night.

Lin Feng frowned at the disturbance but he had no choice but to check it out.

“Hello.” He said, after opening the door.

In front of his door were two people hated by Lin Feng.

“Finally, the scum shows his face. We are here against our will to deliver a message to you. Moving in here is a newly recruited disciple. The Disciple Head wants you out of this house in the next hour.”

Houston smirked, after he had delivered the message.

He had always been jealous of Lin Feng, who was known to be the academy prodigy, and even moved along with Ririn, the academy queen.

After the spread of the rumor, he was over the moon.

“That's too soon. I have nowhere to go.” Lin Feng frowned.

“That's not our problem, Lin Feng. We are acting on orders. Once you are packed up, we'll leave.” The other person was a bit calm.

His name was Wayne. He had looked up to Lin Feng once, so there was still a bit of respect.

“Doesn't the Disciple head know I have a Spirit Summon now?” Lin Feng was confused. He still had the status of academy prodigy so this should be illegal.

Houston snickered, covering his mouth, “That doesn't change the fact that you have ruined the sect's reputation with your actions.”

Lin Feng narrowed his eyes at the intrusion, “If I remember correctly, I was talking to Wayne, not you.”

Hearing that made Houston's face turn red, “A cricket should be careful not to get stepped on by the elephant.” He said, clenching his fists.

A smile appeared on Lin Feng's face, “As a cricket, don't you think you should step back from me.”

Even Xian let out a chuckle in Lin Feng's head.

“Just because you got a summon, doesn't mean you can disrespect your seniors, Scum Feng. I am close to being an Inner Disciple unlike you. I have already formed my Spirit Dao Heart.”

Realising where this was headed, Wayne tried to step in.

“Houston, wait. Let's give him–”

“Shut up Wayne, you are still a newcomer. Know your place.” Now, Houston wasn't holding back.

He had always wanted to teach Lin Feng a lesson.

“No one cares about you, Lin Feng, so if I kill you here, who would hold me in the wrong? Even your own parents disowned you.” Houston smirked, and then he waved his hands, “Stormveil, I summon you.”

A rune circle appeared on the floor, and a screeching sound filled the air.

“You think you are all mighty. I heard you got a Grade C beast. My Stormveil Eagle would make holes in you and your beast’s body.” Houston was now blinded by his anger and hatred.

“Xian.” Lin Feng also got into a stance.

But he received a shock.

“You don't need me, you can take that chicken on your own, now that you have my Spirit Dao Heart.” Xian said with a proud grin, then he turned around and went to sleep.

Lin Feng would have been shocked but there was no time.

The Stormveil Eagle had taken to the sky. Its winglength was about the size of an adult man.

“Release Lightning Blaze.” Houston thundered with a wild laughter.

The Stormveil Eagle shot down at the quick speed, its beak heading straight for Lin Feng's chest.

Xian opened one eye, and glanced at the beast, before going back to his sleep.

The pressure from that look, disrupted the mind of the Stormveil Eagle, implanting a deep fear into its heart.

With a cry, the eagle changed its trajectory, flying upwards in a heartbeat.

However the backlash from stopping such a move, brought it down to the ground with a loud crash.

Houston rushed to the side of his summon.

“Lin Feng! What did you do?!” His eyes were bloodshot.

He had invested a lot of resources into increasing the strength of his summon. He never expected such a turn of events.

“I told you to back away, Houston. I was never interested in talking with you.” Lin Feng stared down at the man.

Houston bit his lips, “This isn't over Lin Feng. If Stormveil can't bring you down, I'd do it myself.”

He said and a strike of blue lightning surrounded his hand.

“I'd put you in your rightful place, six feet under my foot.” Houston snapped, “Lightning Blaze Palm.” He shot forward.

With killing intent in his eye, Houston directed the move straight towards Lin Feng.

To his surprise, Lin Feng didn't even budge, taking the brunt of the attack with full force.

Smoke rose to the air, and laughter resounded. Lin Feng stood at the center of the smoke, only the middle of his clothes were burnt up, he remained unhurt.

“I warned you, Houston.” Lin Feng cocked his head, and Houston, who was inwardly celebrating killing Lin Feng, suddenly pissed his pants.

“Lin Feng. You can't kill me! My father would ruin you. He's from the inner family.”

But it was too late to beg.

Lin Feng stretched out his hand, “If you aren't ready to place your life on the line, then don't threaten another life.”

Black lightning surrounded his palm, thicker and stronger than Houston's.

“Lightning Blaze Palm.” Lin Feng calmly said. The mirror image of a massive dragon appeared behind Lin Feng.

Even Wayne collapsed on sensing the immense power.

“Be honoured that you are the first to taste my new strength.”

The palm was released and the power was frightening.

It sent shockwaves through the environment.

Before Houston could react and put up his defense, the palm slammed on to him, twisting his neck in an awkward direction, killing him instantly.

Houston’s blood splashed on Wayne, who had also peed his pants in crushing fear.

Stormveil Eagle let out a shrill cry, after its master had died. It instantly disintegrated, returning back to the spirit beast plane.

It was going to suffer a harsh drawback on its cultivation, reducing it to a Grade D beast.

Lin Feng dusted his hands, “Tell the disciple head that I'd be moving out tomorrow. Thank you.”

With that he went inside and closed the door, leaving Wayne to face the aftermath of the clash.

The second day of the Xialan Battle Royal dawned gray and cold, but the arena was already buzzing with gossip about the events of the previous night.Word traveled fast in a place like this. Faster than Dao energy.By sunrise, everyone knew about the death of the Slithering Snake Assassins."The three of them? All dead?""I heard they didn't even get a chance to fight back.""Who is this guy?""That's the thing. No one knows. He won his first fight yesterday with some little lizard beast no one expected to win, and now this.""A lizard? What kind of spirit beast kills three SSA?"The theories spread like wildfire through the contestant quarters. Some said Lin Feng was a rogue cultivator from the Eastern Wastelands, trained in forbidden techniques. Others whispered he was a disgraced disciple from a major sect, hiding his face out of shame. A few, the more superstitious ones, suggested he wasn't human at all.But the most common opinion, the one that circulated through the crowds gathe

Zi Chen stood at the window of his newly acquired room, his back to the others. The Dao energy here was richer than anywhere else in the contestant quarters, but he wasn't cultivating. He was thinking."That masked bastard needs to pay," one of his followers snarled, pacing back and forth like a caged animal. The one Lin Feng had struck was still unconscious, taken to a healer an hour ago. "He embarrassed you, Brother Zi, totally disregarding your position.""Did you see how fast he moved?" another muttered, his voice carrying a tremor he couldn't quite hide. "I've never seen anything like that. Not even from the senior disciples.""Who cares how fast he moved?" the first follower snapped. "He touched one of ours. That's a declaration of war."The room buzzed with angry voices, each one trying to outdo the last with threats and promises of revenge. They were all furious. Humiliated. A nobody in a mask had made them look like fools, and worse, had walked away without so much as a scrat

Lu Feng's jaw tightened beneath his mask. Of all the people to run into on his first night here, it had to be Zi Chen.He knew exactly who Zi Chen was even if Zi Chen couldn't recognize him. A direct senior disciple under the same master as Xiao Chen. If anyone in this arena would recognize his techniques or worse, recognize him it would be this man standing before him now.But Lu Feng wasn't here for trouble. He was here for Dao cores and a spot in the top ten. Nothing more."Fine," Lu Feng said flatly, turning back toward his room to collect his things. One of Zi Chen's followers laughed, a ugly, sneering sound. "Look at him. All that mask and mystery and he folds like paper.""The beast probably managed to crawl into top 100 thanks to heaven's luck," another chimed in. Lu Feng ignored them, stepping past them with Xian still draped over his shoulder. The little lizard's tail flicked once, twice, but he said nothing which Lu Feng found suspicious. "I found it amusing that you're

  • Chapter 10

The entire room erupted into loud cheers as the next contestants stepped onto the stage. Lu Feng looked around for the beasts' masters. Recalling Long Beard's words, he could tell that both beasts — the eight-winged Phoenix and ten-whiskers Wildcat were both spiritual summons.Long Beard was right, there is always a glimpse of worry in the eyes of the masters taking the risk of allowing their spirit beasts to go into battle. Lu Feng couldn't quite blame them. They had a greater chance of winning with their spirit beasts than with a contracted beast. Unless it was an S grade beast, they stood no chance of winning, and S grade beasts were not so easy to come by.Staying hidden behind a pillar and blending with the shadows, Lu Feng couldn't help but wonder which spirit beast would emerge the winner. After all, they were both strong enough to be called A grade spirit beasts."Quite an unusual spirit beast you have there," Long Beard muttered from behind Lu Feng, his eyes fixated on Xian s

The advertisement Lin Feng had shown Xian was a competition of Spirit beasts. With the immense size of Sky Court city, it was obvious that there would be some shady business going on.Lin Feng wore a black mask, covering his face and making him unrecognisable. It was in the middle of the night and after asking for directions he was able to find the place.“Who do you want to place your bet on tonight?” Outside a black door, two men stood outside, and Lin Feng could hear them eavesdropping.“So they place bets in this place?” He brought his hands to his chin.“Xian, are you sure you can defeat a lot of beast at this stage? Should we go back in case you can't win?” Lin Feng communicated with Xian in his head.Xian fumed, “Shut up Peasant. Be grateful I want to work for the both of us.” The lizard uttered, stretching its back.Lin Feng could only chuckle. He had nothing to worry about.Walking towards the door, he held out a token for them.“I'm here for the Beast Match.”One of the gua

The great Xialan City was where Lin Feng was raised, and it consisted of various other sects, acting under a single ruler. The Prime Ruler of Xialan City was a prodigy from the Feng Sect, named Jian Feng. He had reached the peak stage of the Dao Soul Realm. If he spent more time in seclusion than in ruling the city, people estimated that he would hit the Dao Unity Realm in a few millennia.“Would hosting the Xialan Battle Royale be a good choice at this time?” Jian Feng asked the man beside him. This man was the second elder of the Feng Sect, Gu Feng.“We have no choice. That scum, Lin Feng, has ruined the sect's reputation. We barely have more than ten youths applying to join our sects. In fifty years, the sect would be wiped out at this rate.” Jian Feng appeared in deep thoughts. “Wasn't he the young man that raped Yun Feng?”“Yes, that bastard. I'm grateful that Xiao Chen still chooses to wed Yun Feng after the incident.” Gu Feng let out a sigh of relief. Love these days was truly
