A surge of indescribable anger rushed through Zion’s veins.

“Elena? What’s the meaning of all this?” His voice was strong, carrying a threatening edge. “I was busy working in your company to make it a successful business, and here you are, compensating me by cheating on me even on our anniversary?”

A shiver ran down Elena’s spine as she felt the raw anger behind his tone, like a lion that had just been angered.

The man on the bed with Elena was Damian Sterling. He turned to look at her and could see how shaken she was.

His face tightened.

“Enough!” he yelled at the top of his voice.

The displeasure in his voice was evident, and Zion was shocked.

He was still acting like what he’d been caught doing with Zion’s wife was completely normal, and he was even angry at Zion for being angry.

What the hell is this man thinking? Zion wondered.

“How dare you just walk into the room without knocking first? Do you know who I am?” Damian said.

“I could make you disappear if I feel like it. Now get out of this room before you ruin my fun,” he said boldly.

Zion was momentarily stunned. Aside from sleeping with his own wife, this man still had the guts to ask him to leave the room?

“Zion.” His wife’s voice came through. It sounded like she was trembling, but she forced herself to remain composed. “You heard Mr. Damian, right? Surely you’re not clueless enough to understand that you’d be in deep trouble, and I won’t be able to save you if you offend Mr. Damian Sterling. Just leave. We can talk some other time.”

It was almost like she was dismissing her secretary at work.

Zion frowned.

“I should leave?” he asked.

He laughed bitterly.

“You care so much about offending this man than your own husband? So all the sacrifice and work I did to make your business successful were nothing to you?”

Her face dropped as disdain flashed in her eyes.

“And what did you do for me? Didn’t you sell off your own business with your own hands and decide to help me when I was in need? Moreover, it was Mr. Sterling here who helped me become successful, not your forty million dollars that made me a billionaire today.”

Her tone was confidently cold as she spoke.

Damian smiled from where he sat.

“What a pathetic fool. So you sold your company and spent the money on a woman when you’re this poor? Now you expect her to spend the rest of her life with a poor man?” He laughed mockingly.

“Elena, so you believe that it wasn’t me who made you a billionaire today?” Zion asked.

With a sneer, Elena laughed.

“You? Made me a billionaire? Don’t make me laugh. How can a nobody who has no credit in his account even afford to make someone a billionaire?”

She didn’t even seem guilty about her actions.

Sure enough, Zion had been foolish not to see this coming. She must have been playing him and planning this whole thing long ago.

The truth was that after he sold his company for forty million dollars, he’d used the money to invest in Elena and help her win the CEO position, since that had been her dream when they first met. At the time, the family had announced a competition among all the grandchildren to determine who would eventually succeed and claim the position.

After he’d helped her become the highest investor so she could claim the CEO position, he also spent his time grooming the company, working behind the scenes without a salary and making sure everything was running properly.

Elena had never known how to run a company properly, but Zion made sure those weaknesses never became a problem. Even though all she did was spend lavishly, he made it seem easy for her.

But now she actually believed it was because of Damian that she had become successful?

“If not for Mr. Damian Sterling, who helped me sign big contracts with other major companies and put in good words for me so I could be favored by people who respect him, did you think I’d just become a billionaire that easily?” she said.

Zion could see it.

She was blind to the truth.

Damian’s chest puffed out as though he were the man of the moment.

“I can’t believe this pathetic fool actually dared to take credit for what I did for your family, Elena,” Damian said displeasedly.

Then he turned to look at Zion with a creepy smile.

“I want you to divorce him immediately. Otherwise, I won’t support your family any longer,” he said as he put on his trousers.

Damian was desperate for the divorce to happen the next day as they had planned. He wanted Zion out of the family today so he could finally have Elena all to himself.

Elena’s heart skipped at Damian’s words.

Three years ago, Elena and her mother, Victoria, had been like outcasts within the Whitmore family. Since her father wasn’t much of a contributor to the success of the family’s business, they were never truly respected.

That changed when Zion came into her life and she started dating him.

He had sworn to protect her and make her happy. So she asked him to make her the CEO of the Whitmore family business. That way, she’d be able to make her parents proud, and if he did that for her, she’d be happy.

Zion had promised to make her happy, and he was the type to keep his word. He didn’t hesitate to give up his own company and pay off all his workers so he could focus on his wife’s business.

While Zion had helped her gain the CEO position, Elena felt like it was only after she ran into Damian Sterling and he took a liking to her that her business really started growing massively.

On the day she first agreed to go out with him, she gained new contracts and clients that she was certain were Damian’s doing.

And because her mother backed her up with words of encouragement, telling her to go out with Damian more often and make him happy so they could continue shining in glory in front of the same family that had once looked down on them, Elena couldn’t let her mother down.

So she continued the relationship.

Until today, when Zion finally found out.

Damian left the building after declaring that Elena should divorce Zion.

Zion, still unable to wrap his head around what had just unfolded, sat in the room he’d been given in the Whitmore house.

Was it all worth it?

Tears threatened to fall from his eyes.

He’d grown up in a motherless home and lived his life never knowing what it truly felt like to have someone who cared about him.

His mother had been sick for as long as he could remember, and her condition kept getting worse until she was eventually forced to stay permanently at the hospital.

He couldn’t even recall the last time he’d heard her voice.

When Elena came into his life, he truly thought love was what he needed to finally be okay.

And he’d given everything for it.

Just when he was drowning in his thoughts, a knock at the door made him snap out of his daze.

It was already evening. The party was over, and all the visitors had already left.

“Zion, open the door. We need to talk.”

He heard Elena’s voice.

What does she want to talk about?

Is she sorry?

The thoughts ran through his mind as he opened the door, hoping to at least look into her eyes and find some glint of remorse.

He had always believed she loved him as much as he loved her.

But when he opened the door, there was nothing but disdain in her gaze as she turned her head away, almost as if she couldn’t bear to look at him.

She gestured toward the parlor for him to follow her.

He quietly followed.

In the sitting room, her mother was present.

Her father was there too, along with her brother, a lawyer, and finally, Sophie, the youngest of the family.

“Mom, Dad—”

Zion had not even finished his sentence when Richard shot him a stern stare.

“You’re not worthy of calling me Dad,” Elena’s father said as he played with the expensive wristwatch on his wrist, a gift Damian had recently bought him.

“Only Damian, the respectable heir of the Sterling family, is worthy of that.”

He had expected them to talk about what had happened, but instead, the looks he saw on their faces seemed to show that they already knew what was going on. And instead of scolding Elena, they seemed to be looking at him as though he were the problem.

“Come sign the divorce papers and walk away, loser,” Sebastian said in a delighted tone, as if he’d already won the lottery.

“I can’t wait for Damian to regard me as his in-law. He’d definitely buy me more gifts,” Sebastian said, grinning from ear to ear.

Zion stood frozen, utterly speechless.

Ana scoffed from behind the two nurses as she continued holding the stretcher that Zion’s mother was lying on with one hand.“So you want to tell me that you have forty thousand dollars to pay for the renewal of your mother’s VIP treatment without the Whitmore family’s help?” she sneered, her eyes scanning the ordinary clothes he was wearing from top to bottom. The clothes had faded from years of washing and reuse, and Zion hadn’t bothered to change them.“You can’t even afford to take proper care of yourself. Should I believe that you can take care of your sick mother?” she added.“Move aside and stop wasting our time. Putting up a show won’t change the fact that your mother won’t be returned to the VIP room anymore, so just quit the acting,” Tina said.“Don’t worry, I’m calling security. Since he refuses to leave, we’ll just have them throw him out.”Janet took out her phone.“No, you don’t have to call security,” Zion said. “I’ll make the payment. A new renewal payment for my mothe

My name is Quinn Temple, and I’m your grandfather’s most loyal servant,” Quinn explained.“You see, originally, when you were born, your mother was sent away from the Blade family. However, your grandfather has asked me to find you because he wants you to come and claim your rightful position in the family as one of its potential heirs.”Zion was incredibly shocked by the news and perplexed that he had never known he had a family that would actually bother to reach out to him.“What’s with the ‘Young Master’ anyway?” he asked. He wasn’t in the best mood after everything that had happened, and the title s
