It was Jessica's boss, James Patterson. The Patterson family is well respected in the whole of Winston Salem. James’ father, Mr. Richard Patterson owns a big transportation company.

James has been Jessica's biggest admirer, he had even promised Mrs. Miller a new car and a million dollars if he gets married to her daughter. Since then Mrs. Miller has been pushing for a divorce between Jessica and Jason.

James walked in dressed in a nice suit. He was handsome and muscular. He had bears and brown hair.

“Good morning, Mrs. Miller,” he greeted her. He looked at Jason who was standing as he walked past.

“Good morning, James, how are you?” Mrs. Miller said with a smile.

“I am fine, I came to drop Jessica off, I wanted her to reach safely. Here is her car key, my driver is waiting for me outside, I have given her a day off, she needs to rest.” James Said smirking.

Mrs. Miller was smiling as she walked up to him.

“That's nice of you, I wish everyone was like you.” Mrs. Miller said as she tried collecting the car key from him. Jessica was still standing by the side of the staircase.

“Jessica baby, see you tomorrow,” James uttered with a smile on his face.

“You don't have any right to call her your baby, she is my wife,” Jason said in annoyance.

The house was silent like a cemetery house for a minute. Before James broke the silence.

“I can't see who is talking.” He said as he stared around the room pretending not to see Jason.

“What do you mean,” Jason said as he clenched his fist.

“Who are you? A husband who stays with his wife and has no money, how does that sound to you? Jessica doesn't deserve a pit like you. What do you have to offer? You only bring her shame and disgrace. Can you even afford a watch like this? How much do you have you fool.” He said as he moved his wrist around Jason's Face.

Mrs. Miller and Danny let out a loud laugh. While Jessica stares at them with disappointment, she never wants to treat Jason the way she is treating him now but she is tired of being mocked by her friends and her own family.

“Jessica can't be yours, she belongs to me. Even without money, she loves me dearly.” Jason said.

James laughed “She loves you and you have been married for four years but you haven't touched her. I did, just one night with her, she accepted me because she loves me more than she loves you.” James said with a smile.

Jason, Mrs. Miller, and Danny turned and stared at Jessica but she lowered her head down, she wasn't expecting James to say so not even in the presence of her own family.

Jessie!!!! Jason screamed her name.

“What did you do? Did you sleep with him?” Jason asked with anger.

She couldn't hold it any longer so she uttered. “Jason, I'm tired of this marriage, since you want to know the truth.

Yes, I did and he is a better man than you. We have been married for four years now and I can't boast of anything. Look at you Jason, you don't have anything to your name, not even a dollar. I feed you, I buy you clothes. What do I get in return from you, nothing but disappointment. She uttered angrily.

“I want you out of my life Jason, go away. You are nothing but a poor and miserable son of a bitch. Look around, can you even afford anything that's here? Jason, we are no longer in the same league.”

Jason was disappointed and felt like he was stabbed with a knife to his chest. His facial expression was entwined with sadness and bitterness. His eyes widened in shock.

He walked up to Jessica, trying to hold her hands but she pushed him down the staircase and he fell to the floor.

He managed to crawl up and he stared at her. “Is this what you want?”

“Yes,” she said as she walked down towards the drawer, brought out the divorce paper, and threw it on him.

Jason looks at the brown fill he knows what it is already.

“Sign the divorce paper and leave us alone,” she said.

James smirks at him, “Sign the f**king divorce paper.”

Jason angrily attacked James and punched his face, James staggered backward till he hit the wall. The entire family was shocked it was the first time they had seen him in such a devilish state. James' mouth was bleeding from the punches he received from Jason.

Mrs. Miller and Danny hurriedly walked towards James to help him. Jessica scurried towards Jason and slapped him so hard that his vision became blurred. Jason held his cheeks as he looked at Jessica with disbelief.

She walked towards James and helped him to stand by to his feet. Jason watches as the four of them gang up against him.

Mrs. Miller was scared, she yelled at Jason “Leave us alone, you this son of the devil. You want to kill him because he is better and more successful than you.”

Jason quickly took the pen on the table and signed the

divorce paper, “You all will regret this, I promise you.” he said with his eyes reddened in anger.

“You raised your useless hand to punch me, I will make sure you never see the sunlight again,” James said as he used his hand to cover his mouth.

He took his handkerchief from his pocket and used it to wipe the blood.

“Yes, deal with him. He deserves it.” Mrs. Miller said.

“Don't allow him to leave this place, I will deal with you,” James said as he picked up his phone and called the police. Danny was scared to stop Jason.

Jason went upstairs to get his phone and walked out of the building. He could hear James screaming from behind and ordering the security man not to allow him to leave the building.

The security guards did as they were instructed, they locked the gate preventing Jason from going out.

“Let me go or else you will regret it,” Jason said with an angry tone.
