“Jack! I think we are done with this thing between us!”

“I have had it with all your embarrassment and all your actions that make me a laughing stock here!”

“I mean take a good me and then take an even better look at yourself!”

Betty Thomas's voice was very cold as she continued.

“We are no longer on the same level, I have been listed as the number one rising lady in this year's Female-Preneur magazine, the world's most influential magazine company that recognises rising business stars like myself…”

“And you Jack, what have you achieved since we got married?!”

“You have been nothing but a disgrace and a ridicule to myself and Thomas's family.”

Jack Adams, slowly took a deep breath and stared at the floor, he was holding a bucket and mop stick, he worked as a janitor in Thomas's group, the same company her wife was now heading under the command of her grandmother, Lady Nicole Thomas.

Jack Adams stared at Betty Thomas wondering why she was willing to divorce him at this point.

“Betty, can we please talk about this when we get home?”

“No! It can't wait until we get home!”

“I'm really fed up, Jack Adams!”

“Do you really know how hard it is to walk around this office complex and hear people and colleagues say that I'm married to a loser and a nobody?!”

“I guess you don't!”

Betty Thomas said as she plopped in the ultra-modern leathery seat in her office.

Picking up the telephone on her office desk, Betty Thomas immediately called in her personal assistant.

“Isabella, Jack is here, please have my lawyer send in the divorce papers, I can't wait to get this done.”

“No problems ma, divorce papers are on the way.”

Jack Adams still didn't do anything or say anything, Scott Benjamin had actually told him that this might happen before he decided to marry Betty Thomas.

“Betty, what wrong have I done to deserve this ill treatment?”

“I have given you everything, my body and my heart and my time, why are you filing for a divorce, especially today which is my parent's 15th year death anniversary?”

“You see that's the problem I have with you, Jack!”

“You and I were never incompatible, even from the very start!”

“I should never have agreed to marry you, I should have listened to Lady Nicole Thomas, my grandmother and went ahead to marry Justin Bradley or Nathan Leonard!”

“These guys are from wealthy and influential families and they understand how the rich get rich, those are the kind of people I want around me.”

“On the other hand, you are just a freeloader without influence, power and wealth…what kind of man are you, Jack Adams?!”

“You know what you don't need to answer that question, I already know the right answer to that question!”

“Jack, my lawyer and my personal assistant will be walking right through that door with our divorce papers!”

“All I need Jack Adams is for you to sign the divorce papers and name any amount as alimony and I will pay it!”

“I'm currently worth at least three billion dollars right now and the Thomas group stocks and that of its subsidiary companies are on the rise as we speak!”

Betty Thomas said as she gazed intently into the eyes of Jack Adams.

“Betty Thomas…don't do this, you don't truly understand what is…”

“I clearly understand what is happening and might I remind you, you are in no position to talk to me that way!”

“I'm your boss right here in this office!”

Betty Thomas said coldly and suddenly a slightly loud knock was heard on the door.

“Come in!”

The door opened slowly as Isabella Marcus and Betty Thomas's family lawyer, Mr. Albert immediately walked into the office holding the divorce papers that Betty Thomas had requested.

“Great! Isabella Marcus, what the heck took you so long?!”

“Because of you, I have had to endure four good minutes of Jack Adam's smelly sweat!”

Mr Albert immediately took a look at Jack Adams who was already sweating heavily from his janitorial job.

“He sure is sweaty and stinky, I'm so sorry to ask Ms Betty Thomas, why did you marry this…person instead of Nathan Leonard or Justin Bradley?”

“This dude is not in your class!”

“I mean look at you, so talented and beautiful!” Mr Albert said as he praised and flattered Betty Thomas.

“Mr Albert, I really don't know what came over me, I really regret marrying Jack Adams.”

Betty Thomas's voice had no emotions at all, she immediately stood up and walked over to the window and opened the curtain with a voice command.

“Open curtains!” The AI-powered building immediately opened the curtain by itself allowing little daylight to flood the office.

“Betty, do you really want to throw me out the window after all I have done for you and your family?”

“I was the one who encouraged you to go for that project with the president of Titanium Valley Group and it worked out just fine.”

“We have been through a lot together. Why push me aside now that you are beginning to taste fame and power?”

“Mr Jack Adams or whatever you call yourself, you encouraged Ms Betty to go for the million-dollar project with the president of Titanium Valley Group but it was Justin Bradley who actually helped us win the bidding!”

“You really can't say you helped Ms.Betty Thomas in any way!”

“In my opinion, Ms. Betty Thomas has been the one helping you and carrying your dead weight around!”

“You are working here today because of her kindness and the numerous good words Ms. Betty Thomas had to put in her grandmother, Lady Nicole Thomas and the board of trustees.”

“I really think it's high time we all tell ourselves the truth!”

“You can never be at the same level with Ms. Betty Thomas ever again!”

“She is now a billionaire and a success waiting to happen…”

“While you are a disaster waiting to occur just at the right time!”

Isabella Marcus's voice was laced with humiliation and disrespect for Jack Adams.

She had never liked Jack Adams from the very beginning, she was amongst those who had encouraged Betty Thomas to divorce Jack Adams and get married to any of the men from a very wealthy and notable family.

Jack Adams took a deep breath, seeing that Betty Thomas's mind was made up, he dropped the bucket and the mopstick and walked over to the table where Mr Albert had already positioned his part of the divorce for signing.

Taking another look at Betty Thomas, his wife, he immediately signed the divorce papers.

“Betty Thomas, I really hope you know what it is you are doing?”

“I just hope you won't regret this day.”

“Can I please have my ring back?” Jack Adams asked slowly, his face was etched in a mix of coldness and determination.

“Here, pass this over to him.” Betty Thomas immediately removed the ring and gave it to Isabella Marcus, her personal assistant.

“Take it and leave!”

Just as Jack Adams was about to take the ring, Isabella Marcus allowed the ring to fall on the floor.

“Oops! You can pick it up and while you are at it, you can wipe the floor with your tongue, Janitor.”

Isabella Marcus said disdainfully as she and Mr. Albert, Betty Thomas's family lawyer bursted into laughter.

The only person who didn't laugh was Betty Thomas, now that she had done this, she was beginning to feel strange.

Picking up the ring, Jack Adams immediately attached it to a chain and wore it around his neck.

“This belonged to my mom, she gave it to me right before she was drowned alive, I promised her that I would always have it with me.”

Taking one step towards the door, Jack Adams immediately turned and stared at Betty Thomas one last time.

“I really hope you know what you have just lost.”

Inside the black SUV, Lord Leo sat behind the wheel, his grip on the steering slowly loosening as the chaos behind them began to settle. Beside him, Jack leaned his head against the window, breathing out softly, while Justin Bradley sat in the back seat, slouched, his eyes hollow from everything that had happened. From their vantage point atop a hill across the Wayne Mansion, they watched the flurry of police cars, flashing lights, and media vans swarm the property like flies to a carcass.Lord Leo glanced at Justin through the rearview mirror. “You alright back there?” He asked in a low voice.Justin slowly lifted his gaze and nodded weakly. “Yeah… I’m alright.” He said, though his voice didn’t carry conviction. He stared through the tinted glass at the mansion below. “Nike… he was just doing all this to make his father proud. He’s not this… monster. Not deep down. I know it.”Jack turned around in his seat and locked eyes with Justin. “As much as I hate to say this.” He bega

This isn’t just a mansion. It’s a cathedral of chaos,a building filled with booby traps. And guess what? I’ve already activated them.”Jack took a step forward, shouting toward the walls. “You don’t have to do this, Nike. Just give yourself up!”But Nike replied, dripping with sarcasm. “Didn’t I already tell you? Giving up isn’t an option.”Lord Leo, trying to reason with him, added.“Ther

The tension was thick, each man lost in his own thoughts, eyes focused on the looming Wayne mansion up ahead.Suddenly, Lord Leo leaned forward and reached beneath the passenger seat, pulling out a heavy black case. The metallic latches clicked open, and inside were two Desert Eagle pistols, polished and gleaming. Without a word, he handed one to Jack.Jack raised a brow and immediately shook his head. "No, we don’t need weapons for this. We’re here to talk.”Justin nodded in agreement, his voice strained. "Yeah, I mean, seriously? Guns? What are you, a police officer or something?"Lord Leo gave no answer, his expression was unreadable as his eyes remained fixed on Jack. The silence was answer enough."Fine."
