Jonathan raised his head, his eyes filled with confusion. "What do you mean?"

"Go work at Pacific Group. You only need to stay there for two or three months. After that, you can redeem your ID card. You won't have to wait long, and the compensation issue will be settled," the girl explained as she brushed her blonde hair behind her ear.

Jonathan frowned, as if he couldn't believe what he had just heard. "Work at Pacific Group?"

The tall police officer nodded in agreement.

"That's a good idea. You won't have to trouble yourself looking for another job. Pacific Group is always hiring new employees, especially for field positions. That way, you can pay off the compensation through your hard work, and no one will have to keep chasing you for it."

The shorter officer also spoke after putting away his handcuffs.

"I think it's a reasonable suggestion. Pacific Group isn't just any company. It's well known throughout this city. If you can work there, Jonathan, not only will your problem be solved, but you'll also gain valuable experience."

Several of the onlookers immediately chimed in.

"That's right! Pacific Group is a huge company, young man."

"I heard the employee benefits are excellent. They provide health insurance, staff housing, and even free meals."

"Not to mention the monthly allowances. It'll make your life much easier."

The same people who had been criticizing Jonathan only moments ago were now encouraging him to work under Pacific Group.

It left Jonathan's emotions in complete turmoil.

Deep down, Jonathan felt reluctant. Since childhood, his Master had trained him relentlessly, and he had spent nineteen years mastering martial arts. He had endured all of it with the belief that one day he would stand proudly, earn the respect of others, and live independently. Yet now, reality had taken the opposite turn. He had to redeem his own ID card by working under this young woman.

The shorter police officer looked at Jonathan seriously.

"Listen, young man. You may feel that your pride is being hurt, but reality is reality. If you refuse now, your problem won't be resolved. It will only become even more complicated."

Jonathan fell silent. Those words made sense, but his heart still resisted. To him, serving under two young women felt like lowering the dignity he had spent years building. Yet the gazes of everyone around him pierced him from every direction. If he refused, he would only look like a coward.

"Fine. If this is the only way, then I'll give it a try."

The crowd gradually dispersed after Jonathan finally agreed.

Mella looked straight into Jonathan's eyes. Her gaze was sharp, as though it could see through anyone's heart. She took a business card out of her small handbag and handed it to him with an elegant yet commanding gesture.

"When you're ready to redeem yourself," she said calmly but firmly, "come to Pacific Group Headquarters tomorrow morning. Report to the Human Resources Department. Just tell them Mella sent you."

Jonathan accepted the card. His eyes fell upon the words printed clearly across its surface.

Mella Andora

President of Pacific Group

The tall officer raised his hand to get everyone's attention.

"Alright, this matter is settled. There's no need to drag it out any further. Everyone can go home peacefully."

The noisy crowd gradually dispersed.

Before leaving, Mella politely bowed to both police officers.

"Thank you very much for helping mediate this matter," she said sincerely.

"It's no problem, Miss. Stay safe on your way home," the shorter officer replied kindly.

Mella then linked arms with the blonde-haired girl and started walking away. However, just before disappearing into the crowd, the blonde girl turned around with an irritating smile.

"Good luck tomorrow, little thug," she said mockingly, deliberately stabbing at Jonathan's pride.

Jonathan, who had been trying to restrain himself the entire time, immediately snapped.

"What did you say?!" he shouted furiously.

Without thinking, he grabbed his worn backpack and hurled it toward them. The backpack flew through the air, barely missing the blonde girl's head.

"Hey!" several nearby people shouted.

Mella quickly pulled her friend aside. The backpack crashed onto the floor with a loud thud, landing only inches away from the blonde girl's feet.

The blonde girl stared for a moment before letting out a sarcastic laugh.

"Hmph. Your temper matches your appearance perfectly. Rough and impatient."

Mella immediately pulled her away before another argument could break out.

Meanwhile, Jonathan stood there, his chest rising and falling with anger. He was still furious, yet he could no longer say a single word. The remaining onlookers continued staring at him, making him feel even more cornered.

Jonathan sat down on the edge of the sidewalk with a gloomy expression. His worn backpack lay beside him. He lit a cigarette, took a deep drag, and slowly exhaled the smoke. The bitterness in his chest eased a little, though the blonde girl's mocking words, "little thug," still echoed painfully in his mind.

After taking several drags, he pulled an old mobile phone from his pocket. Without hesitation, he pressed the call button.

"Sixth Senior Brother, I hope you'll answer," he murmured.

A cheerful voice soon came from the other end.

"Hello? Jonathan! It's been such a long time since you called me. What's the matter, little brother?"

Jonathan let out a sigh of relief.

"Sixth Senior Brother, I just wanted to ask about Father and Mother. They're both doing well, aren't they?"

"Don't worry," his senior brother replied warmly. "Their health is stable."

"How was your flight?" his senior brother asked, changing the subject.

"It went well, Brother. But after I arrived at the airport, I ran into a disaster!"

"A disaster?"

"Yes!"

Jonathan then recounted everything that had happened.

Loud laughter burst from the other end of the phone as soon as Jonathan finished telling the story.

"Hahahaha! I can't believe something that funny actually happened! You had only just gotten off the plane, and you already ran into a beautiful woman. Jonathan, Jonathan... that's incredible luck!"

Jonathan let out a long sigh.

"Brother, please don't laugh at me. I still don't know what I'm supposed to do."

His senior brother's laughter still hadn't subsided.

"You're truly unbelievable. Other people worry about losing their luggage or running out of travel money. But you? You ended up getting into trouble with a woman who's actually the President of a major corporation! Hahaha. That's a story worthy of being written into a novel."

Jonathan rubbed his temples, feeling both annoyed and embarrassed.

"Senior Brother, this isn't something to joke about. I really don't like the idea of working under that young woman."

"Who said I was joking?" his senior brother replied. His tone became more serious, though traces of amusement remained.

"Think about it carefully. Maybe this is the path Heaven has prepared for you. You spent nineteen years training in martial arts, but doesn't life also depend on good fortune? Maybe this opportunity will open the door to your future. Who knows? One day you might even marry that beautiful woman. Just imagine it. A 'little thug' marrying the President of Pacific Group. That would become the talk of the entire city!"

"Come on, Brother!" Jonathan exclaimed, half embarrassed. His face turned red even though no one could see him.

"I've never thought that far ahead."

"Suit yourself," his senior brother replied casually.

"But whatever you do, don't run away from this opportunity. Go there tomorrow. Treat it as a new beginning."

Silence followed after his senior brother finally stopped laughing.

Jonathan gathered his courage and brought up the question that had been weighing heavily on his heart.

"Brother... what about Father and Mother? I want to know how they're really doing."

The voice on the other end didn't answer immediately. A long silence followed, broken only by a heavy sigh.

"Jonathan, there's something you need to know."

Jonathan felt his heart tighten.

"What do you mean, Brother?"

"When I took you away back then, I never actually met your family. I only left a letter in front of a house near your family's neighborhood. I don't even know whether they ever read it."

"How could you do that?!" Jonathan's voice rose, trembling with both anger and shock.

His Sixth Senior Brother continued softly.

"The address printed on your ID card isn't your family's real address. It's just an address I randomly picked from a map. I have no idea where your family actually lives."

Jonathan felt as though his entire world had collapsed. The cigarette in his hand slipped from his fingers and fell to the ground, instantly going out.

"Jonathan..." His senior brother's voice was filled with regret.

"I know I'm at fault. That's why I want you to listen to me. Come to my house tonight. Stay with me for the time being."

But Jonathan didn't answer. His finger pressed the red button, ending the call.

Silence surrounded him once more.

"I'll still go into the city on my own."

He had already made up his mind.

Jonathan then took a taxi to the address printed on his ID card, 202 Sumara Street. After a forty-minute ride, he finally arrived.

He was utterly shocked. The city had changed dramatically over the past nineteen years. The five-story building he still remembered had long since been demolished. In its place now stood rows of skyscrapers rising more than thirty stories into the sky.

Looking at the sea of lights shining from thousands of homes before him, Jonathan fell into deep thought.

He could only ask himself one question.

"Where is my home?"

Now Jonathan was no longer looking only at the elderly woman's face. He could also see the threads of fate flowing around her body. A dense golden radiance surrounded her, a sign of immense fortune coupled with an equally great burden that had remained with her throughout her life. The elderly woman gazed at Jonathan for a long moment, as if trying to determine the true extent of the young man's abilities. Then, in a hoarse yet steady voice, she said, "In that case, don't tell me about my future yet. Prove yourself by revealing my past instead. Tell me who I am and what I have been through." The crowd immediately erupted into murmurs. "Whoa, that's a difficult request..." "If he gets it wrong, Jonathan is finished." "This is a real test." Patrick, who stood beside the elderly woman, folded his arms across his chest. His sharp eyes remained fixed on Jonathan, clearly prepared to intervene if the young man said anything inappropriate. Jonathan took a deep breath. This was exactl

In truth, the elderly woman lived not far from the town square. Every weekend, she would come there for a leisurely walk, enjoying the lively atmosphere while breathing in the fresh air beneath the banyan tree. She had actually been standing among the crowd for quite some time, quietly observing Jonathan from a distance. After seeing several of his predictions come true, her curiosity was piqued. In the end, she decided to step forward and personally test the abilities of this young fortune teller. As soon as she sat down on the small chair prepared for her, the middle-aged man behind her, Patrick, her personal bodyguard and most trusted confidant, immediately stepped forward to support her respectfully. His expression remained vigilant, as though he would not allow even the slightest threat to come near her.Jonathan felt his blood pumping with excitement. Confidently, he removed the black sunglasses that had been covering his eyes the whole time. The crowd was instantly astonished.

Because two consecutive fortunes came true almost immediately, Jonathan's reputation soared. More and more people gathered around him, and in just over an hour, he had already served more than a dozen customers. Every prediction was accurate, but the customers only gave small voluntary tips. Although his hat was gradually filling up, the money he had collected was still far from the amount he wanted.Jonathan grew dejected, wondering when he would ever reach his target. He silently calculated in his mind. "At this rate, even if I stay here until tonight, I'll only earn a little more. How am I supposed to reach ten thousand dollars? These people have it easy. My predictions are spot-on, yet they only give me two-dollar tips. But when they visit those fake fortune tellers, they're willing to pay tens of thousands." He grumbled in frustration. How could he be valued less than those fraudulent, lecherous fortune tellers? He glanced at his hat, now filled with stacks of bills. The crowd ar

On that bright Saturday morning, the town square was bustling with activity. Street vendors lined the sidewalks, children ran around laughing, and elderly people sat leisurely chatting with one another. Beneath the third banyan tree, a new sight caught everyone's attention: a simple stall with a small table covered by a black cloth. Behind it stood a wooden sign with bold words painted across it:"Face Reading and Fortune Telling. If I'm Wrong, It's Free!"Jonathan sat confidently behind the table. His hair was slicked back with pomade, a pair of dark sunglasses gave him an air of mystery, and an old hat rested on the table to collect payments. Bernad stood a short distance away with his arms crossed, watching curiously to see whether his friend's "side business" would actually attract customers.Less than twenty minutes later, a young woman approached with a panicked expression. She was breathing heavily, her hands tightly clutching the shoulder bag she carried."Sir, please tell my

Jonathan smiled faintly before raising his hand and pointing at Bernad's palm."I can read palm lines, calculate a person's fate, and sometimes I use small divination tools. I'm not as skilled as those famous fortune tellers, but it's enough to make people curious. I figured that instead of wasting my break time, I might as well use it to earn some extra money. To be honest, our salary is just too low."Bernad stared at him in disbelief. His face was filled with shock as he asked seriously,"My goodness! This is the first time I've heard you have such a strange ability. So, you're planning to open a fortune-telling stall?""Yes," Jonathan answered firmly. "I've noticed that on the dirt road west of the company, a few old men often set up fortune-telling stalls. Maybe I can join them there."Bernad immediately shook his head."Don't, Jo. That place is too quiet. The only people passing by are street vendors pushing carts or workers rushing home. If you sit there, you'll probably fall a

Leaving the President Director's office, Jonathan's steps felt heavy, but his expression had become much calmer. The anger that had flared up earlier had subsided by half. Deep down, he understood that although Mella had never shown a friendly face, her scolding and warning were not entirely driven by ill intent. There had been genuine concern hidden beneath her harsh words.Even so, Jonathan did not think much of the Sigoro Family. To him, they were nothing more than pebbles scattered along his long road. There were far more important matters than wasting his time thinking about the grudge of a spoiled rich man like Victor. At the moment, two problems weighed heavily on his mind. First, he needed to gather enough money to redeem his confiscated ID card, an essential requirement to get his administrative affairs back on track. Second, and far more urgent, he had to find his parents. They had been separated for far too long, and he no longer wanted to delay their reunion.Jonathan stop
