Search for Freedom

“Forgus, let’s not do this, I don’t think it’s a nice idea.” Ella said.

“Don’t you want to view the outside world? You’ve been here for years and I’ve spent all my live in this place. I need to see how other people fare.”

“Isn’t it better you talk with Professor Magnus about this? He’s your dad, I bet he’d listen to you.”

“I don’t think so, he wouldn’t want me out of this place all my life. Shhhhhh! There’s someone approaching here let’s hide.”

They both hid themselves behind the flowers. Mr. Sarma walked towards that place, looked around as though he was in search of something then proceeded back to the library.

“Phew! Thank goodness were not caught, let’s return back immediately.”

“I really need to see the outside world, please support me and go with me.”

“Fine. But then, we don’t have the key to leave this institute. Have you forgotten that’s surrounded with spell and no one knows it except Professor Magnus and his wife? There’s really no way we can get out of this place. Let’s get going back please.”

“Trust me, we’re going out of this place.” He said with a big smile.

Then he stretched his hand to the open space and his eyes widely opened and muttered some words. Ella stirred at him in disbelieve knowing fully well that no one can open the place. Forgus moved forward into the open space, part of his body had vanished till he discovered Ella was not with him; her mouth was wide open in shock. Then he dragged her and they came out of the open space in Karmagha’s sculpture.

“I told you. Wow! This is really wonderful. Let’s explore the place.” He began to jump and run around the bush.

“Wait first, how did you do it? What did you say?”

“That doesn’t matter now, have fun!”

He held her hands, walked through the bush path and admired everything he saw. It felt like a bird being let out of the cage after a long period of captivity.

“Why are the trees looking malnourished, the leaves yellowish and the stream with little water? Is this how the outside world look like?”

“Not so with where I came from, I think this is Karmagha.”

“Why is it different from other places, what’s the cause?”

“We’re told while growing up that an evil sorceress caused the land and the only remedy is the king’s son who will have to battle with her and put the curse to an end.”

“What about the king’s son?"

“It is rumoured that the King hid him in a faraway land right from his childhood so the evil sorceress won’t know anything about him.”

“Hmm. Interesting. Let’s seat by that stream for a while before we return back so they won’t discover our absence.”

They went to the stream and sat down, Ella leaned on his shoulders while he caressed her hair and facial region. They began playing with the water while moving it gently with their legs and smiled with each other. It was a pleasurable moment, the joy on their faces knew no bound. Suddenly, they heard a noise from behind them.

“What could that be?” Ella said in dismay.

“Let’s find out. I think it’s one of those little creatures that might have been stuck in the thick.” He made to move.

“No Forgus!” She shouted as she jumped on him and they both landed on the ground while the arrow passed above them into the stream.

“Someone is trying to hurt us; we need to run.”

He held her hand and started running through the bush part back to the institute. He fell to the ground after being struck on the leg by what he could not explain; Ella tried to support him. Someone came out of the bush path and met them, fully covered from head to toe.

“So cleaver of you thinking you both can escape from me today. By the time I’m done with you, you’ll know you ought not to be everywhere.” Laughs and tried to get closer to them.

“Stop there! You can’t harm us,” Ella said, “we have done you nothing.” Then she brought out her wand from her bosom.

The person got irritated and began to laugh, “That thing don’t work on me, I bet you’re still in your elementary levels.”

This individual then stretched forth the hand towards Ella with full force and she was lifted up and thrown into the bush. This made Forgus very annoyed, he got up and looked towards the trees, his eyes widened and with that fury turned his face towards the individual. The tree fell upon the person; he was surprised to discover such. Then he quickly ran to get Ella so they’ll move immediately.

Being stuck on the tree, this unknown individual saw them moving then brought out the wand made a sharp slash downwards and said, “Stupefy.”

The both of them stood still not knowing what’s happening around them. The unknown individual began to laugh and struggled to get up.

“Where’s Forgus?” Magnus asked his wife

“I don’t know his whereabout, he might be in the library. You know, he loves to study.”

“Let me check for him, I need him to run errands for me.”

After a while, he came back to his chambers where his wife was arranging the books on the table. She sorted the books according to grades to be distributed to the various tutors.

“Forgus is not in the library, Mr. Sarma said he have not seen him today.”

Anglo came in to pick a book.

“Anglo, have you seen Forgus today?” Mrs. Margret asked.

“I’ve been looking for Ella also. Hmm. They should be in one of the classes,” he made a gesture with his hand as one quoting someone, “reading.”

“Is there anything you are hiding from us?” Magnus inquisitively said.

“Not at all. Let’s go find him.”

They went in search of Forgus and Ella through out the vicinity but there was no trace of them.

“It seems they have left this institute. An evil may have befallen them; we need to go in search of them before something bad happens to them.” Magnus said.
