Chapter 24 - What If The Blackest Blue Is Not Enough

It was almost the end of the day and Thomas still sat on the bed, his palm holding onto that of his wife, and the baby who slept adrift in his arms.

"Lily! Please our baby needs you!" He muttered with teary eyes.

The day had gone by rather hastily and he hadn't even tasted a meal. He looked pale all over as he vividly mourned the absence of his wife whose hard work was now needed the most.

Suddenly, the surroundings outside the house went into a fit of pandemonium as screams and loud thumping feets buzzed around.

'What's happening.' Thomas had to take a peek at the outside, and all of a sudden, a thick frown plastered his face as tall and earth-like humanoid creatures evaded the area.

The same bloodthirsty monster that fought alongside the village' terrorist, Leo.

"I must teach this young man a lesson!" Thomas stared into his palms with a look of disgust and dejection. He looked like he was trying to convince himself to do a certain action, but unfortunately, his heart continuously shattered due to something that was best known only to himself and his late father.

After a couple of seconds, he dropped the baby boy on the comfy bed and laid a gentle kiss on his forehead. Afterward, he turned to his wife with a saddened look before running out of the room.

~~~
"Hehe! Patriotic villagers, why won't you evacuate the village before my wrath dawn on you?" Leo asked himself with a pout while he stared at the Blackest Blue whose multiple clones happily devoured the villagers as they ran helter-skelter in the streets.
The chaos went on for some minutes before Thomas finally arrived on the scene, his expression dazed at Leo's standing figure that looked nonchalant.
"The widower has returned to avenge the death of his silly wife!" Leo tensionally mocked the man whose thatched appearance even made the teasing worse.
"Why don't you stop me? Oh, you don't have any ability to do so!" He laughed in a menacing tone, leaving Thomas to only clench his fist in resentment.
"Damn to you... Young man!"
"Call me Leo! After all, I am your brother. "
"Don't call yourself that! My late brother's name is Leo, not you. By the way, he wasn't as demonic as you are, even though he was kind of sarcastic, he was...friendly." Hot tears trickled down his eyes as he said the words that were supposed to be deemed as emotional, but unfortunately, it had not caused even a crack in the stone-hearted villain,
"However, you are a monster..."
Thomas could not complete his words as a tight palm suddenly grabbed his neck as it slowly lifted him into the air. He began to gasp and struggle, trying to escape from the tight grasp of the Blackest Blue whose body heat slowly radiated into his skin.
"How do you feel, ehn!" Leo made a devilish grin as he stared into the eyes of the struggling latter, "Maybe you'll join your wife, six feet under."
As fast as Leo's words, the bright light illuminated the area before dying out even before anyone, including Leo, could comprehend.
Once the light died out, it revealed Thomas's figure who stood rooted on the ground, having a sad face that was unfitting for his situation as he now stood free from the strength-hold of the entity.
Once Leo recovered from the flashing event, he looked pissed especially as the clone of the Blackest Blue had suddenly disappeared into thin air, "What happened? Did anyone interfere in my brotherly conversation?"
Leo's voice echoed in the surroundings and the running villagers shivered at both the voice and the monster that chased along.
"It's about time you're executed for good! I think the heavens don't want me dead yet!" Thomas answered with that heroic voice that has been hidden underneath him for a very long time, "Now the heavens are on my side, there's no way you will control this night!"
A laugh suddenly reverberated through the atmosphere, "Look at my younger brother having his heroic speech! Impressive acting skills, brother."
"Don't you dare call me that!"
The light blinded the area once again, and only after some seconds did it reveal the odd appearance of Leo who looked like he was being bounded by a thick vein.
"Guess who won? The heavens!" Thomas did not hesitate to pace toward Leo's limp body. Luckily, as he'd passed out, the Blackest Blue and all his clones also disappeared into thin air.
~~~

"How could you?" A familiar voice, being that of Leo roared in the cell that he'd long forgotten the appearance of.

"You... You've never had an ability?"

"I don't know what you're talking about. And by the way, the village will not waste any time to execute you." Thomas quickly answered with a facial expression, hidden in the darkness outside the cell rods.

"You will be executed tomorrow by noon! And guess what, it's already midnight, which means when the sun occupies the sky, then come to your doom!"

Leo turned pale as a ghost with every single utterance from Thomas. He acutely remembered one thing about this place, its strong resistance to any ability.

'I really am doomed.'

°°°

"So you're really not a strong-hearted villain...just yet?" A disappointed look drowned Bel's face and at the same time he looked vexed, "And the next time you invade the village, pray you don't get arrested, else, I'll make sure I rescue you only when they've sliced your head from your neck!"

Bel growled at Leo and immediately transformed into a dragon that was exactly the size of a lair.

°°°

Leo's head subconsciously played the scene of Bel's clear warning that he won't be saved this time.

Tears fell from his eyes and his heart thumped faster with every ticking second.

"Are you crying? Ahh... You just demoted the glimpse of mystery I had for you!"

"I am not crying!" Leo managed to subdue his tears, but unfortunately, his voice made it clear that he wanted to cry bitterly, "Just pray I get executed, else you, your wife, and that baby of yours will be my first target!"

Thomas shook his head in pity and walked out of the scene, "Only...if by some miracle you escape, crazy man."

He turned his gaze to Argon's cell and he'd realize that it was empty."So it's already noon?" He wondered, mostly since he felt like the time he'd spent in the cat's lair didn't last to an hour. The tiger-like creature appeared in front of him once his mind was settled and he had to choose another spot for the beast to dig into. Leo pointed to a spot far away from the hole and he watched as the beast diligently dug into the ground, he remained silent while he waited for the depth to reach a few more feet before he was finally going to jump in."Hey, you over there! Halt." A voice shouted from outside Leo's cell instantaneously, and he abruptly turned his gaze to armed, and heavily armored men, visibly the guards. A huge creature had, however, suddenly appeared in the cell and began to pound on the cell's metallic rods that beamed with every collision, yet, there wasn't a single scratch on it. "You seem eager to leave here, young man?" A young and husky voice reverberated from one of the prison cells, and a fairly muscular man revealed himself from the shadows. He looked like a man in his early thirties even though his bulky and bald head made him look excessively ugly. He continued, "I think I've seen you here before. Oh, that dragon, why isn't it here to save you the way he did before!" "Haha! Stupidly funny. Fortunately, I do not need assistance from any dragon cause I'll be out of here before you know it." You'll have to wait until the king is under an appropriate condition."Thomas looked frustrated as he intensely flung his gaze from his wife to Andrew, "How long do you think it will take him?""The healer is actually her, but by the way, she will be done as soon as she can revive the king from his critical condition."Thomas nodded as his face slowly grew an unpleased frown, "Where can I drop her? As soon as Leo finished his statement, the environment turned pitch black, and the king even struggled to see."Are...you hiding underneath here?" The king asked as his eyes gazed around the dark scene. Meanwhile, Leo stood far away from the king with a pondering frown. Even the dragon had failed to scare the king for a long time, and he now had to brainstorm on what was scarier than the dragon, or at least, what will scare a dragon.Suddenly, a shout from the king echoed into the surroundings and Leo shivered since he only exhausted himself the more the king was lost in darkness, "Young man, what is this?" The king was lost in total darkness for nearly a minute before a cool feeling suddenly crashed on him. He turned his stare to the far darkness, and his gaze fell on a pair of glittering golden eyes that slowly paced toward him."This is a real illusion young man, you're slowly..." The sudden app
