A week later

Yan Ming opened his eyes, exhaled a deep breath, the Qi storm swirling round him dispersed, his body felt lighter, his perspective increased and his Qi pool had increased greatly, over the past week he had been stuck in the royal guards personal quarters in the imperial palace.

Bennett had forced him over from the Frostmoon family, then locked him up when Yan Ming refused to "comply"

No matter what Bennett did he would simply shrug him off without an ounce of fear, not even when he was locked up in this little courtyard. Over the week, he would cultivate at times then stroll around the royal guards quarters, he even left the guards quarters without getting detected, Bennett nearly pulled out his hair in rage, searching all through the city for his lost disciple even causing a rukus in the Frostmoon family only for Yan Ming to return to his courtyard by sunset.

When Bennett asked of his whereabouts, Yan Ming simply replied "I was feeling a bit stuffy so I went out to see the mortal world."

He could've advanced to the Soul manifestation realm but he decided to follow Tian Luo's advice and wait till Olethros was unsealed before advancing then leave the guard's quarters.

"Tian Luo, show me my stats."

"The bonus points, I can assign them to any stat right?" Yan Ming asked, he had always neglected it but this time he had his sights set on it for what he was about to do.

{Yes master}

"Assign 400 into endurance, add the rest into Qi." Damion said with a slight glint in his eye.

The slight storm of Qi swirling round him which had yet to calm down raged once again, rushing towards his body and bones, he could clearly hear the sounds of bones creaking under the baptism of Qi, the temperature round him rose in an instant, but he didn't feel a single ounce of pain.

"This looks amazing, how did you manage to do this? I never even asked how and why you took on this form did I?" Yan Ming asked, an intrigued look on his face.

{I took on this form when we descended into the mortal realm, it's an advanced version I created from their technology by using a slight part of origin's energy I can uplift your potential and strengthen you}

"Uplift my potential?"

{Your previous body's potential was way higher than this, in order to catch up I have to borrow from Origin to cover up, it's not considered as breaking the rules stipulated, you're just recovering what was once yours but in a different path from before}

"Oh, I kind of understand now, what about the shop? And why is it closed? Also a lot of informations are missing here, you can't use your abilities also."

{The shop is a rift that leads to the primordial infernal realm's vault, the reason it is closed is the same reason why I can't use my abilities, I'm in a weakened stare currently, once I am able to recover the remaining functions will be open and I will be able to fight by your side once again}

"There must be ways to increase the speed of unsealing the flames and your recovery right?" Yan Ming asked, he was already feeling impatient with the wait, he could afford to wait for a thousand years during normal times but every passing day he wasted here made him more anxious about the infernal realm, even though he was betrayed he couldn't afford to let the infernal realm fall into Tian Yi's hands.

Once Tian Yi finds out about his situation she would launch an all out attack on the infernal realm without hesitation.

"Not after what happened back then, she hates my guts now." Yan Ming said with a light sigh.

{The pace can be increased by consuming energy filled treasures or absorbing external energy sources, as long as I have enough energy I could even unseal all the flames and recover back to peak state in a single day}

"How long left to unseal Olethros? Once it is unsealed I'll leave this place, since you need energy staying here won't help, I need to go out to search for energy sources then leave the mortal realm."

"Didn't you say it would only take a week or two?" Yan Ming asked with a frown.

{Miscalculations, I didn't expect it to be this hard, I'll try my best to increase the efficiency and unseal it as soon as possible, I'm sorry master}

"Forget it, I didn't intend to wait for so long anyways, since you need energy I'll just find a source for you here. Figures, I also have a vendetta to resolve before I leave, I'll unseal Olethros as a bonus." Yan Ming said, picked up his robe and put it on then walked out of the courtyard.

The guards nearby panicked the moment they saw him walk out of the courtyard.

"Lord Draxus!"

"What are you doing here?" Yan Ming asked with raised eyebrows.

"Lord Bennett ordered us to stay here and watch over you to ensure the previous mistake does not repeat itself." The guard replied, expecting Yan Ming to express some sort of discomfort.

He simply nodded without a care "Where is he?"

"He?"

"The person who told you to watch over my courtyard, I have something to discuss with him." he repeated.

"He's in his villa right next to yours." The guard replied.

"Oh, he's at home, even better." Yan Ming said with a light smile then walked straight towards the villa.

Standing outside with arms folded behind his back was Bennett who was watching the sun in the skies shining onto the lawn growing nearby.

"You have something to say to me? It's about time right?" Bennett asked, a light smile on his face.

"Yes, It's about time, I have a challenge for you." he said calmly.

"A challenge?" Damion asked, this definitely wasn't what he was expecting.

'Isn't it time he bowed and acknowledged me as his master? So many want me to tutor them but he keeps ignoring me, it makes me feel like I'm forcing myself on him.'

"A duel, between me and you, if I win you have to grant me any three wishes of mine." Yan Ming said, his eyes glaring straight at Bennett with intense ferocity.

Qing Chun keptwatch nearby, golden-white light occasionally flickering at her fingertips as she continued herown quiet practice while they waited.Hours passed without any sign of the Warden's return, the valley's silver-shimmering treesrustling softly in a gentle evening breeze, the lake's still surface reflecting the graduallyemerging stars with perfect, undisturbed clarity. Yan Ming was beginning to wonder if theattempt had been misguided when a familiar, layered voice finally broke the silence."You've returned sooner than I expected."Yan Ming's eyes opened immediately, finding the Warden seated on the same flat stone he'doccupied during their first encounter, grey robes settling around him as though he'd simplyalw

  • The Captives

    The captured Concord agents proved considerably more forthcoming than the Tian clan's earlierinterrogation of the fleeing traitor's associates, whether from the visible devastation of theirfailed assault or simple exhaustion after weeks of demanding service to a cause several of themprivately admitted they'd never fully understood. Elder Rushan conducted the questioningpersonally, flanked by two of her most trusted elders, while Yan Ming observed from ashadowed corner of the interrogation chamber, old instinct sharpening at every fragment ofuseful information."Tell me about the array," Elder Rushan said to the most senior of the captured agents, aweathered man whose Ember Core cultivation marked him as considerably more experiencedthan his younger companions. "What have you heard about its purpose?"The agent hesitated, old loyalty warring visibly against the practical calculation of a man whounderstood his current position offered little room for continued defiance. "What is it?""Alarm formations. I don't know the cause yet, but it's close." He was already moving towardthe chamber's entrance, crimson-gold flame kindling reflexively at his fingertips. • The Ember Vale Request

    Word arrived three days later, carried by a travel-worn messenger bearing the Ember ValeClan's insignia, requesting Yan Ming and Qing Chun's presence at their territory directly ratherthan continuing to coordinate purely through correspondence. Tian Shen read the letter twicebefore passing it across his study's desk, expression thoughtful."They're asking for more than information sharing," he said. "Their message suggests they'veencountered something specific — an artifact or technique recovered from a skirmish withConcord scouts, something they believe requires expertise beyond what their own elderscurrently possess.""And they think I'm the one who might understand it." Yan Ming scanned the letter's careful,formal phrasing, old wariness mixing with cautious curiosity. "Did they say what kind ofartifact?""Only that it bears markings unlike anything in their clan's historical records, and that it wasrecovered from a Concord agent killed during a border skirmish two weeks ag

  • Deeper Into the Seal

    True to his word, Yan Ming began the following morning with a return to the deliberate,dangerous work of unsealing more of his restrained cultivation, retreating to a heavily wardedchamber deep within the Tian clan's palace that Tian Shen had personally arranged for exactlythis purpose — thick stone walls layered with containment formations, designed to absorb anyerrant surge of power that might otherwise threaten the surrounding structure."You're certain about pushing further?" Tian Shen asked, watching from the chamber'sthreshold as Yan Ming settled into a meditative stance at its center, the Restriction Key'spendant clutched carefully against his chest. "The scouts' report gave us months, not days.There's no need to rush this recklessly.""There's every need," Yan Ming replied, eyes already closed, breathing settling into the slow,measured rhythm of deep meditation. "Feng Lie Zun knows we're organizing against him now,thanks to the traitor's information. Whatever timeline

  • Terms of the Alliance

    Morning arrived with the Tian clan's palace grounds still bearing faint scars of the previousday's assault — scorched stone along the archive wing's outer wall, freshly reinforced wardshumming visibly along every entrance, guards posted in numbers that hadn't been necessarybefore the traitor's betrayal had come to light. The assembled delegates reconvened in the greathall with considerably less ease than they'd carried into the summit's opening session, warinessnow coloring every exchange, every glance toward unfamiliar faces among their own retinues."Before we finalize anything," the Azure Tide Sect's representative said, arms crossed as shesurveyed the room, "I want assurances that yesterday's breach won't be repeated. If Concordagents can infiltrate the Tian clan's own staff, what's stopping them from doing the same to anyof our territories once this alliance becomes public knowledge?""Nothing, entirely," Tian Shen admitted, meeting her gaze without flinching from theunc
