Those who oppress others tend to rely heavily on their powers or advantages over the bullied party, losing those advantages would result in a devastating crash to their mindset and hearts, especially when it came to losing their power over the bullied party.

The moment Chris felt all strength diffuse from his pores, limbs growing weak, his energy draining out gradually, he felt his world crash, the effect it made on his mind was a hundred times more than what happened to his body.

The meridians acted as a link between the mortal body and the outer world, directly towards origin. Without the meridians he was no different from a normal, average mortal, his physique could at most make him stronger than other mortals but that was all.

"You.. what did you do to me?!" Chris screamed out, his eyes trembling, brain racing, trying to convince himself it was just a passing dream.

"You're way too dependent on your natural instincts, the moment you lost your meridians you fell prey to your own mind already. Don't bother, I don't have any interest in you, you'll be back to normal soon." Yan Ming said, his eyes and expression passive, there was no need to pay attention to a kid who wasn't even as old as a grain of hair on his body.

Chris opened his mouth, trying to utter words, trying to scream out, convince himself it wasn't real but nothing came out after several seconds, just as he was on the verge of actually going insane he heard a call jerking him back to life.

"Chris!! What's wrong?"

A boy in his mid twenties, black hair and eyes, a calm but dangerous aura swirling round him was walking towards Chris with a cold look on his face.

"What's wrong?"

"Brother, my meridians, I don't know what's wrong, I think they're crushed, it can't be--" Chris stammered, uttering words after the other, mixing them up like a confused railgun.

Gerald frowned, Chris's current state looked disheveled and his rumblings all contained the same thing "My meridians."

He raised his arm, placed his palm on Chris's chest, feeling every heart beat of his and his blood flow then his eyes widened in shock "Who did this? Who broke your meridians or was it an accident?"

"I don't know what happened, it wasn't like this before, it all happened after he placed his hand on me I don't even understand what happened."

"Who? Who did you say placed his hand on you?" Gerald asked, his eyes filled with rage, Chris was his direct blood brother, his own biological younger brother from the same mother, watching him in such a disheveled state wasn't to his liking, not to mention turning his younger brother into a cripple.

"Draxus! It's him, he placed an arm on my shoulder and this all happened, I don't even get what's happening with me right now." Chris mumbled, his words coming out in stammers.

Gerald already got the information he needed from Chris, leaving the disheveled boy behind, Gerald walked towards Yan Ming who was still watching the two with a look of interest on his face "What's wrong? You also want to challenge me?"

"I initially wanted to teach you a little lesson but since you wished for it then so be it, let's have a duel, a life or death duel, I'll use your blood as compensation for my brother's meridians." Gerald replied, his arms crossed behind his back, a calm and despondent look on his face.

"Second stage Soul Manifestation Realm, you're good enough, I also wanted to test how strong this body is." He muttered in a low voice but loud enough for a cultivator like Gerald to hear.

'How did he know I broke through to the second stage? Is it just a guess or something else? Isn't he supposed to be the wastrel of the family unable to cultivate? A cripple they said.' Gerald thought, a frown surfaced on his expression, an ominous feeling budding from the depths of his chest.

'Even if he could guess it that doesn't change anything, he was just third stage body tempering realm tte last time I saw him, if I can't even beat him up or defeat him I'll concede all my cultivation all live as a normal mortal.' Gerald thought, steeled his heart then raised his head, peering straight towards Yan Ming standing in the same spot calmly.

"Do you accept my challenge? Or you're so scared you want to chicken out."

The maids nearby along with a few passerbys pulled up to watch the unfolding show, the disheveled sixth young master, the furious third young master, and the fifth young master who had a whole different aura around him like he had been reborn overnight.

"Isn't this just straight up bullying? How is a body tempering realm cultivator expected to defeat a soul manifestation realm cultivator? This is being unreasonable." One of the maids whispered to her colleague.

"He seemed to have defeated the sixth young master who is already at the peak of the body tempering realm, it looks like he was hiding his cultivation and he's already in the spiritual awakening realm!"

"Does that change a thing? How is he expected to defeat young master Gerald? If it was a normal cultivator maybe he could've performed a miracle and battled across his realm but lord Gerald is also a genius, one of the best geniuses in the empire! If it wasn't for his bloodline he would've been considered as the next family head."

"Is he going to accept the challenge? He most likely won't." The maid replied, a curious look on her face.

Even though 'Draxus' seemed to be in trouble no one stepped in to help, even if they actually wanted to help they were just maids, there was no sort of help they could render so they did the one thing they were good at, spread the rumors, stand by and watch with glee.

"Sure, I also need a duel to stretch this weak body and test my limits, I hope you can give me a nice time." Yan Ming replied with a smile.

His confident words gave rise to an ominous feeling deep in Gerald's mind 'Why is he suddenly so confident? He suddenly transformed from the weak timid little rat into this within a single day.'

A little voice came whispering into his mind, telling him to forfeit, to ignore the duel and leave.

"Alright, a life or death battle it is, I hope you can save your poor little bones from crumbling too quick." Gerald said with a light smirk.

  • What Remains: End Of Book One

A year later, the coalition that had once formed purely from desperate necessity had settled into something considerably more permanent — a genuine, lasting alliance between eleven territories that continued cooperating on trade, mutual defense, and the ongoing work of ensuring the Concord's dissolved structures never again coalesced into anything resembling their former, coercive unity. Tian Shen, now formally recognized as the alliance's primary coordinating voice, had proven himself as capable a peacetime leader as he'd been a wartime commander, the Tian clan's territory flourishing under his continued, thoughtful governance. Long Xue had settled into a role as the alliance's primary liaison to the void dragon clan's reforming leadership, her own journey from grief-driven hunter to genuine, trusted ally now complete in ways that had transformed her entirely from the cold, calculating figure who'd once ambushed Yan Ming at the Withering Garden's threshold. She vi

  • A Quiet Return

Nearly six months after the convergence's collapse, with the coalition's rebuilding efforts finally settling into sustainable, ongoing rhythm rather than urgent, demanding crisis, Yan Ming and Qing Chun found themselves, for the first time since their tournament victory so long ago, with genuine, unhurried time to simply exist together without the weight of imminent catastrophe pressing against every decision. "Do you remember," Qing Chun said, as they walked together through the same tournament city where their journey had first properly begun, its streets considerably more peaceful now than the chaotic, celebration-filled days following Yan Ming's unexpected victory, "when you told me jade necklaces were useless, and then bought me one anyway?" "I remember," he said, managing a genuine, warm smile at the memory's simplicity, so distant now from everything they'd since endured together. "You still have it?" "Always." She touched the necklace at her throat, the s

  • Rebuilding

The weeks that followed brought the considerable, demanding work of transitioning from war back toward peace, the coalition's eleven territories gradually shifting their focus from coordinated military preparation toward the equally challenging task of helping the Concord's absorbed sects and territories reestablish independent governance, free from the coercive unity Feng Lie Zun's ambition had once imposed upon them. Tian Shen took a leading role in this transition, his diplomatic skill proving as valuable in peace as it had been in building the original alliance, carefully navigating the complicated process of restoring trust and autonomy to territories that had spent years under the Concord's controlling influence. "It's slower work than the battle itself, in some ways," he admitted to Yan Ming, during one of their regular strategy sessions turned peace-building consultations. "Fighting has a clear beginning and end. Rebuilding trust, restoring genuine inde

  • The Warden's Confirmation

Three days after the battle's conclusion, as the coalition's forces settled into the considerable work of managing the Concord's dissolved territory and beginning the delicate process of reintegrating absorbed sects back into independent governance, Yan Ming found himself once more drawn toward quiet solitude, old habit of reflection reasserting itself amid the aftermath's demanding, ongoing activity. He found Qing Chun and Long Xue already waiting near the makeshift camp's quiet edge when a familiar, layered voice broke the evening's stillness. "You've accomplished something remarkable," the Warden said, materializing with the same unhurried, patient grace that had marked his previous appearances, grey robes settling around him as though he'd simply always been present, watching quietly from just beyond ordinary perception. "I confess, even I hadn't fully anticipated this particular resolution." "You knew about Feng Lie Zun's manipulation?" Yan Ming asked, old

  • The Battle

They emerged from the spire's shattered entrance to a scene of considerable, ongoing chaos, the coalition's massive diversionary force still locked in fierce engagement with the Concord's outer defenses, though the battle's character had visibly shifted in the time they'd spent within the spire's confines. Concord soldiers, no longer receiving coordinated command from whatever central authority had directed their earlier, disciplined resistance, fought now with the scattered, uncertain desperation of an army that sensed something fundamental had changed. "The convergence's collapse must be affecting them," Yan Ming observed, studying the battlefield's shifted dynamics with old, tactical assessment despite his considerable exhaustion. "Whatever loyalty bound them to Feng Lie Zun's cause, it's clearly tied at least partially to the array's continued function." "Then let's make sure that collapse continues," Long Xue said, already moving toward the nearest cluster

  • What Remains Between Brothers

They rested amid the chamber's settling wreckage for a long while, exhaustion from the confrontation's staggering demands finally, fully catching up to all four of them. Qing Chun leaned heavily against Yan Ming, her cultivation reserves depleted almost entirely by the containment technique's considerable exertion, though her eyes remained open, alert despite the fatigue. "You're alright?" Yan Ming asked, old concern evident despite his own considerable exhaustion. "I will be," she said, managing a tired but genuine smile. "Tianyi says the depletion is significant but not dangerous. Just needs time to properly recover." Long Xue settled nearby, void-attribute qi finally quieting after the confrontation's demanding exertion, her gaze drifting toward Feng Lie Zun's kneeling, exhausted form with old, complicated wariness that hadn't entirely faded despite his genuine cooperation. "What happens to you now?" Feng Lie Zun looked up slowly, old weariness and somethi
