Everyone turned their heads toward Thom. Even the MC froze before accepting the bid.

“A new bid from the gentleman over there! Nine thousand dollars!”

The MC’s voice echoed, and the room erupted in shock.

Madam Yosie almost screamed. “What are you doing, Thom? Do you really have that much money?”

Frank stared at Thom with anger and disbelief.

“How dare you raise your hand!” he snapped.

Benny only laughed softly with his arms crossed. “Let us just wait. He is only raising his hand. In the end, he will not be able to pay. And when that moment comes, he will embarrass himself.”

The MC lifted the next item, an antique music box decorated with gold leaf carvings. Its chime used to be Thom’s lullaby when he was a child.

The price jumped fast, five thousand… ten thousand… twenty thousand… until it stopped at thirty thousand dollars.

And just like before, Thom raised his hand without hesitation.

“Forty thousand dollars!” the MC shouted.

The room burst into whispers and gasps.

Frank slapped his own forehead. “This man is crazy!”

Rachel grabbed her father’s arm, her face pale. “He has really lost his mind. Does he want to go to jail for failing to pay?”

And the auction did not stop there.

The third item. The fourth. The fifth. Every time the bidding reached the highest number, Thom raised his hand again, calm and steady, as if money was not a problem.

The Lanster family’s faces grew darker, but they also became more certain that Thom was only humiliating himself.

“Just wait,” Benny muttered while laughing. “When the total comes out, he will drop to his knees. I guarantee it.”

Madam Yosie covered her mouth with her fan, whispering with a sly smile, “That boy has completely lost his mind.”

Dozens of old items were sold one by one.

The painting, the music box, the porcelain vase, the moonstone necklace, the old journal, even the antique furniture set.

And each time the highest price was announced, Thom raised his hand again without expression.

The tension grew every time his hand moved.

“This is not normal,” one guest whispered.

“He does not even look nervous.”

“Does he have a sponsor?”

“No way. He is a low level soldier.”

Finally, more than an hour later, the MC’s voice echoed loudly, closing the auction with cheers from the confused guests.

“All right! Tonight’s auction has ended! All the highest bids are won by… Mr. Thom!”

There were small laughs and shocked reactions.

The MC looked down at the long list in front of him, then let out a long breath that could be heard by the nearest guests. Even he did not seem convinced.

“The total winning amount of Mr. Thom is $300 million USD!”

Silence filled the room.

A few seconds later, Rachel gasped, followed by Madam Lena’s giggling laughter.

“Please make the payment now to the Lanster family treasurer,” the MC said.

He signaled the treasurer beside the Lanster family.

Benny leaned back in his seat, folding his arms, extremely satisfied. “Finally… finally it is time for him to fall.”

Madam Lena stepped forward dramatically, smiling wide like she just won a billion dollar lottery.

“Forget it,” she said, lifting her hand, making everyone look at her. “This man will never be able to pay!”

She pointed at Thom as if pointing at a circus clown. “Let everyone know who he really is!”

“Thom is nothing but a low level soldier who just returned from a mission! No rank! No connections! No money at all!”

Her words were followed by whispers and mocking comments from the guests.

Madam Lena lifted her chin. “And he has narcissistic personality disorder! NPD! He loves to boast! Big talk! Delusions of grandeur! He does not even have fifty thousand dollars in savings!”

Laughter broke out across the hall.

Thom looked at every single member of the Lanster family who was mocking him, as if memorizing their faces one by one.

The room grew louder with insults and ridicule.

Until Thom slowly reached into the inner pocket of his suit.

He pulled out a plain black leather wallet, opened it, and took out a card.

A pitch black card with a platinum emblem that reflected a cold shine under the crystal lights.

It was a card well known in the financial world!

The MC fell silent with his mouth slightly open.

Some high class guests stood halfway, trying to see more clearly.

Frank squinted. “What is that? Do not tell me that is…”

Rachel covered her mouth, her face turning half white. “No way… Thom? No way!”

Madam Lena stopped laughing and stepped forward, frowning deeply.

And Thom, without expression, handed the card to the Lanster family’s treasurer.

“Use this,” Thom said. “Pay for everything.”

The black card landed in the treasurer’s hand, and she immediately trembled.

“This…” her voice broke.

She swallowed hard and whispered, “Sir, this is an unlimited card!”

  • EPILOGUE—THE END

Months passed since the great victory in the ruins of the Ashfall Foundation, and Valemoor had completely returned to the peaceful rhythm of everyday life. Pear gave birth to a healthy baby boy in the middle of a star-filled night. Red Dragon, who had waited outside the delivery room with a pale, anxious face, nearly collapsed from relief when he was finally allowed inside and saw his son's tiny face for the first time. "We named him Freyan," Pear said softly, cradling her tiny baby with love, tears of happiness still glistening in her eyes. "To honor someone who taught us the true meaning of sacrifice." Thom, standing in the doorway with Jasmine, felt his eyes grow misty when he heard the name. "Freya would be proud," he murmured softly, remembering the brave woman who had sacrificed her life years ago to save him. As promised, Iris spent her final months with complete dedication, helping the Golden Circle research team perfect the replacement system that would continue her

  • Chapter 455

After dinner ended, Thom headed to his office, wanting to finish a few final reports before finally getting some rest. There, he found Iris standing near the window, staring out at Valemoor as darkness slowly consumed the kingdom. Her figure, usually surrounded by countless screens and streams of data, now appeared calm, almost contemplative."Iris," Thom greeted, slightly surprised to find her alone. "I thought you were already asleep.""I wanted to talk to you, King," Iris replied. Her voice was calm, but there was something different about it, something Thom had never heard from her throughout all their years of working together.Thom sat down in his office chair, studying Iris carefully."What is it? You seem different tonight."Iris turned to face him, a faint but sincere smile appearing on her face."I want to thank you, King. For the opportunity you've given me all these years, and for the trust you've placed in me with every major decision we've had to make together.""You sou

The helicopter landed slowly on the runway of Valemoor Palace just as the morning sun had fully risen, its golden rays sweeping across the royal complex that had witnessed so many departures and homecomings over the past several years. But this homecoming felt different. It carried the news that the long shadow that had haunted two generations of the royal family had finally been extinguished. The helicopter door opened, and Thom stepped out first. His body was still covered in bandages, and many of his wounds had not completely healed, but his posture remained steady, and his eyes held a calmness that had been absent since the war against the Obsidian Circle began."Hubby!" Jasmine ran toward him, ignoring the royal protocols that usually restrained her movements in public. She wrapped her arms tightly around her husband, tears of relief streaming down her face. "We heard the whole story from Iris. I couldn't stop worrying all night.""I'm home," Thom replied softly, kissing his wife

  • Chapter 453

Red Dragon tightened the restraints around Eron's wrists, the special device designed to suppress any remaining flow of energy. But before he could pull the old man to his feet, Eron let out a hoarse, bitter laugh that echoed throughout the ruined hall."You still don't understand, do you?" Eron said, lifting his head to meet Thom's eyes. Blood dripped from the corner of his mouth, but his gaze remained sharp, without a trace of regret. "This was never just about revenge for me. That was only the beginning."Thom stared at him intently. "Then tell me. What was your real goal?""The world," Eron answered simply, as though the answer were obvious. "I built the Obsidian Circle to become something far greater than a network of grieving soldiers and forgotten veterans. I wanted to reshape this world. Every government that abandoned people like us, every institution that allowed the weak to rot while the powerful feasted, I wanted to destroy them all and rebuild everything under my own rule

  • Chapter 452

Beneath the completely dark layers of rubble, Thom slowly opened his eyes. His body was covered in wounds, but his consciousness was gradually returning. He could still feel the golden energy inside him burning, though weakly, like an ember refusing to die even beneath the weight of the rubble. Not far from him, he heard a groan. Eron was still alive too, trapped beneath a different section of rubble, his breathing heavy and ragged.Thom tried to move, but intense pain spread throughout his entire body. Most of his energy had been drained by their final collision. He realized one important thing. In his current condition, he would not be able to defeat Eron with his full strength again, at least not for the time being. He needed a strategy, not just raw power.Slowly, Thom crawled out from the gap in the rubble that had trapped him. He deliberately made his movements look much weaker than they actually were, allowing his body to stagger and his breathing to sound desperate, as though

  • Chapter 451

The dark energy swirling around Eron surged violently. Massive cracks spread faster across the entire hall, while dust and debris rained down more heavily from the ceiling, which had begun to partially collapse.Thom did not waste any more time arguing. He could feel the golden energy inside him surging, flowing rapidly through every muscle in his body as his natural response to the very real threat of death standing before him."If that's what you want," Thom replied, his voice cold and firm, "then I'll make sure you fail to take anyone with you."He lunged forward first, refusing to wait for Eron to attack. His golden fist slammed toward Eron's chest, but the figure vanished just before impact, reappearing on the other side with a speed impossible for ordinary eyes to follow."You think your newfound power can match thirty-five years of complete mastery over Shadow Qi?" Eron snarled, his dark energy claws striking from behind.Thom spun around quickly, blocking the attack with an ar
