Duel

The two then prepared for battle.....Rein made his stance and the enemy set up runes for his spell to activate.

There was no tension-filled silence. No dramatic staring contest. No honor-bound opening speeches. Just immediate, overwhelming action.

With a sharp flick of his hand, the noble conjured his fireball. Three massive fireballs ignited behind him in a spiral, burning bright red, hovering with a deadly hum. Then, without pause, he summoned seven more. Ten in total, swirling like orbiting suns, searing the air around him.

It was like he was a mage covered and protected by fire. Like a Fire Tyrant that was famed for its fire-wielding capabilities.

The noble's pride was clearly hurt, his status mocked by this nobody, his honor challenged to the point he burst out in an unwanted duel. And now, he did what most nobles did when cornered.

He lashed out....

Rein stood his ground.

The fireballs spun once more and then launched.

They surged forward in a barrage of roaring flames. Each one of them was waiting to devour him alive. The first eight came straight for Rein like meteors, but he didn't even flinch.

He slapped them aside.

Whap! Whap! Whap!

With his bare hands.....

They collided with the courtyard grounds, some were blocked by other students and others resulted in damage of property.

Boom! One of them collided with a nearby statue, erupting into shards of scorched stone and smoke.

The spectators gasped.....

Rein turned his head slightly. His palm was burned, skin red and smoking, but his expression was calm, too calm. Another wave of fireballs followed. The air distorted from their heat as they hurled toward him. This time, Rein vanished in a flicker.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Explosions erupted across the courtyard as fire met stone, flame met dust. Smoke clouded the battleground, and the students watching nearby shielded themselves from the sudden winds and heat.

Then, in a blur of motion, Rein reappeared, zigzagging, weaving through the battlefield like lightning on his two legs. The fireballs struggled to lock onto his movements, their trajectories thrown off by his unpredictable moving direction.

He side stepped with every fireball that was coming and then his footholds were always going to get obliterated. His speed was unmatched, even with his enemy's fireball speed, it was not enough to catch him or rival him with their attacks.

"Is this how slow the Fireball spell is?" Rein was quite intrigued and concerned.

"This damn brat!? He was just evading my fireballs!"

Another fireball came. This one, dead center, aimed at his chest. It was a close one and then he decided whether to evade or not.

Rein didn't dodge.

He slapped it to the side using his palm.....

Pang!

The aim was not intended but it flung to another direction.

Bang!

The fireball struck the statue...The fireball diverted but to their chaos, it exploded on the statue.

CRACK!

The stone figure of the Principal was split clean in half, the upper torso toppling and shattering into rubble.

His hand was burned again, more severely now. "Huh? Wha...wha what!? My hand! My hand is burning!" A scream escaped from him, but he gritted his teeth and ran to the side. He splashed his scorched hand into the nearby fountain.

Steam hissed upward.

For a second, silence returned.

Everyone watching could only stare.

That attack...those fireballs...were strong enough to destroy a stone statue… yet Rein, a seemingly nobody, slapped them aside with nothing but raw power and physical grit.

The noble was furious. His eyebrow twitched due to his anger. His aura flared in red.

"You… You dared mock me?!" he roared.

Rein stood, his hand still dripping from the water, his gaze sharp and unwavering.

"Name?" he asked casually, brushing his hair back with his good hand.

"…Lukas," the noble replied, his pride smoldering as brightly as the flames he conjured. "You?" He asked.

"Rein," he nodded. "Nice to meet you, Lukas."

Then right after.....

"OI OI OI OI! WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?!"

A thunderous voice echoed through the courtyard. Heavy footsteps followed, and a tall figure emerged from the archway. The students froze. The dust finally settled. Smoke still lingered, but the fireballs had ceased.

"THE DEAN! THE DEAN HAS ARRIVED!" someone shouted...

"Oh no, now they're doomed," said another. Murmurs then followed.

His face was stern, carved from experience and sleepless years of keeping reckless students in check. He looked around, the scorched tiles, the obliterated statues, and the singed hedges.

His gaze landed on Rein, then on Lukas.

"Explain," the Dean commanded.

Neither answered immediately.

So he spoke again...slower, deadlier.

"This academy is for the gifted and disciplined… not the reckless and entitled. Infighting within school grounds is prohibited and will not go unpunished."

He glanced at the destroyed statue, the rubble, and the fountain was still steaming.

"You two! On your first day no less have caused more damage than a typical midterm trial."

He sighed, deeply disappointed.

"Rein," the Dean said coldly. "You are not yet a student. One more infraction and your entrance will be officially rejected."

Rein didn't speak. He only lowered his head slightly.

"And Lukas...." The Dean turned sharply. "You, a noble, have allowed your ego to cloud your judgment. This school does not bend to titles or bloodlines. You are not above the rules."

Lukas' jaw tightened, but he lowered his gaze then bit his lips.

"This is your warning. One more incident… and both of you will be expelled or denied entry. Understood?"

"Yes, Dean," they both said at once.

The students whispered among themselves, but none dared speak aloud. Rein stood quietly, hand still recovering, body still alert. Lukas clenched his fists, his pride shattered harder than the statues he'd accidentally blown apart.

And yet, even amidst the chaos… there was something else.

A new found respect.

The students now whispered a different kind of rumor.

"Did you see that? He slapped a fireball… with his hand!"

"Rein… is he a mage? A warrior?"

Rein walked away slowly, calm but deep in thought. He had revealed a little too much… but it was fine. He never planned to hide forever.

  • The 3 Generals

Inside the large campaign tent, the air was heavy with expectation.A war table stood at the center, covered in maps, drawn lines, and carved figurines representing armies and territories. Oil lanterns flickered on every corner of the tent, casting shadows on the lined faces of hardened warriors. Leather and fur armor rustled as the summoned generals entered and took their places around the table. The tension was tangible, like the stillness before a storm.Rein stood in the middle, arms crossed and gaze sharp as steel.Beside him were Arkhan and Arthurn, his most trusted vanguards, silent, stoic, and radiating unshakable loyalty. On the other end of the tent, Reginald leaned against one of the support beams with arms folded. He was half hidden in the dim light, keen eyes watching everything, as if dissecting every word before it was even spoken. Then the flap of the tent opened.Three figures walked in, each bearing the aura of their people. They were the chosen representatives from

  • Dark Mages

Rein returned to his normal form. The radiant glow of evolution dimmed as his body settled once again into his mimic form. His shell pulsed gently with mana, but his expression, if a mimic could truly have one, was lighter now. The tension that had gripped him during the war had lifted. For the first time in days, he chuckled."Ahhh… finally. Enough seriousness. Back to my cheerful self again," Rein said as his voice echoed playfully."Thank you everyone! Now back to business. Let's go home. But first, let's check the Dark mages first." "Arkhan let's go!" He yelled and then raised his arms. "Yes, master!" He knelt then stood up. "They were located at the cave nearby. I will lead you there myself. Arkhan raised an eyebrow, arms crossed, but allowed himself a small grin. The battlefield was cleared, the enemies vanquished.Arkhan paused for a moment. "It's northwest of the battlefield. They're getting weaker..but persistent. Faint enough to be from those barely clinging to life."Wit

  • Overlord Summoner

The Soul Realm trembled. Black fog from the absorption ritual still lingered like smoke above charred soil. Only the chilling hum of death magic was still crackling in the distance.Rein stood in the middle of the scorched land, sweat dripping from his brow, his robes stained with sweat and cursed soot. Around him, his warriors began to regroup. Mimics carried the wounded, slimes dissolved the last remains of the undead army, and his elite clones stood at attention, watching their master carefully. Before Rein, the newly resurrected man, once the Undead Lich, knelt calmly. No longer a rotting corpse nor a spectral being of hate, but a man reborn. His hair was silver and wild, his eyes violet and filled with bitter wisdom. He wore a conjured mage coat of dark silk, now reinforced with runes gifted through the taming ritual. Rein's knees suddenly gave way.Hi

  • Rebirth

The battlefield was silent for a heartbeat. Then came the rupture. A black vortex tore through the space, ripping it where the Undead Lich once floated. Rein stood at its center, his right hand outstretched, glowing with an ominous, devouring darkness. His newest skill [Catastrophic Gluttonous Devourer] was in full effect. The Lich screamed, its distorted voice howling across the ruined land. Necrotic tendrils lashed out in desperation, tearing apart what remained of the nearby forest. The ground cracked, the sky trembled, and even the lingering souls of the undead trembled at the sheer force of the absorption."Struggle all you want," Rein muttered, eyes burning with resolve. "You're doomed."The vortex expanded, consuming the darkness, the dark mists, and the shattered corpses scattered from the battle. The Lich resisted with every ounce of its might. Chaos erupted, swirling violently as the two wills clashed. For a brief moment, the Lich's soul pushed back, refusing to be dominated
