Katherine paced across her luxury apartment, the clicking of her heels against marble echoing her mounting fury. She paused before a large mirror, her reflection revealing not just her flawless appearance but the cold calculation in her eyes—eyes that had once looked upon the Yemin with love, now blazing with hatred.

"I can't believe that bastard showed up at my party," she seethed, gripping her phone tightly. "Of all people, my ex-husband decides to ruin the most important night of the year."

James lounged on her designer sofa, scrolling through his phone with casual indifference. "Babe, why are you so worked up? We've got Peter hosting an even better party now."

If only James knew who the Yemin really was to me, Katherine thought, careful to keep her past marriage secret. The humiliation of him seeing me with someone like James...

"It's the principle," she snapped, turning to face James. "Those two nobodies waltzed in and disrupted everything. They need to learn their place."

James set his phone down, a smug smile spreading across his face. "Listen, if I can get someone like Peter to back off with just a phone call to my father, dealing with those losers will be child's play."

"You really think so?" Katherine asked, her voice deliberately vulnerable, playing to his ego.

"Absolutely," James declared, standing up and wrapping his arms around her waist. "Think about it. Peter, one of the most feared men in the city, practically apologized to us because of my connections. What chance do a nobody like the Yemin and that plain little girlfriend of his stand?"

Katherine smiled against his chest, concealing her contempt. This fool actually believes he scared Peter off. If he knew what I know about the Yemin...

"You're right," she cooed, pulling back to look up at him adoringly. "I just want tomorrow to be perfect."

"And it will be," James assured her. "I've already texted Tommy. He's arranging a little welcome committee for our unwanted guests before they even reach the hotel."

Across town, the Yemin stood by Faye's window, watching the city lights flicker in the distance. His posture was relaxed, but his eyes remained vigilant, scanning the street below with practiced precision.

"You shouldn't go tomorrow," he said quietly, turning to face Faye who was nervously trying on her simple black dress. "Katherine is more dangerous than you realize."

Faye paused, meeting his gaze in the mirror. "What do you mean? Do you know her from somewhere?"

The Yemin's expression remained impassive. "Let's just say we have history."

"Even so," Faye replied, smoothing down the fabric of her dress, "I'm more worried about Peter. You saw how his men reacted to him. If we don't show up to his party..."

She doesn't understand the real danger, the Yemin thought. Katherine's vengeance is what we should fear, not Peter's.

"Peter won't bother us," he assured her. "Trust me on that."

Faye sighed, sitting on the edge of her bed. "I have to go. I can't risk making enemies with someone like him. Besides, part of me wants to see Katherine's face when we walk in looking like we belong."

The Yemin's phone buzzed with a message. He glanced at it, his expression hardening slightly.

"What is it?" Faye asked, noticing the change.

"Just confirming my suspicions," he replied cryptically. "If you insist on going, then we go together. No exceptions."

The following evening, Faye emerged from her apartment building where the Yemin waited beside a sleek black car. She wore her simple black dress with a borrowed necklace that caught the streetlights with surprising elegance.

"You look beautiful," the Yemin said simply, opening the door for her.

I wish I could talk her out of this, he thought, scanning the street with practiced eyes. Katherine hasn't changed at all.

As they drove through the city toward the Crystal Palace Hotel, the Yemin took an unexpected turn down a narrow side street.

"This isn't the way to the hotel," Faye observed, glancing around at the unfamiliar surroundings.

"No," the Yemin agreed, his hands tightening slightly on the steering wheel. "But it's the way we need to go."

Peter stood nervously before the Yemin, his earlier aggression completely dissolved into deference. He cleared his throat and glanced around the room, his eyes landing on the "Happy Birthday" banner hanging limply from one wall."Wait, is this a birthday celebration?" Peter asked, his voice unnaturally cordial. His gaze settled on Katherine, who was still clutching James's arm.Katherine nodded hesitantly. "Yes... it's mine," she stammered, utterly confused by the shift in dynamics.Peter's face brightened with an artificial smile. Perfect excuse to get out of here with some dignity intact, he thought, mentally calculating how to extract himself from this humiliating situation without losing more face."Well, this is unfortunate timing," Peter said, spreading his hands apologetically. "To make amends for my subordinate's disgraceful behavior, I insist on hosting a proper cele
