Damon's heart raced. He looked around in search of what had gone wrong, but he could see nothing. Looking at the bodies on the ground, he needed no one to tell him that it was the bodies of the people in his town as he knew a lot of them.
"What happened here? Was this done by me? Did I become a monster while sleeping and... did this?" He panicked, but there was no way to confirm, and when he looked at his body, apart from the blood that dropped on his shirt when he was injured and Tiana's blood, there was nothing else to see.
He was still on this thought when he heard screams coming from very far away from him. He frowned and turned in that direction. He thought about going there to see what was going on, but more than that, he decided to find his earthly parents first. "Are they dead too, or did they run away? They will never run away, leaving their only child, would they?" He questioned himself as he tried to think about what must be going on, but he was clueless.
Without wasting time, he started searching for his parents among the bodies on the ground. He hoped they wouldn't be dead yet, and a part of him wished they had escaped when the massacre was happening, but he knew he would feel bad if he realized that they had freed themselves and run away.
Although he was an angel and he had seen millions of dead bodies over the years, seeing one still wasn't a pleasant sight to him, and he wished he could quickly find his parents and run away. It was at that moment that he heard another scream again, and he staggered backward.
With each scream, he knew people were dying, but he found it hard to go to them as he knew he would be useless even if he went there. Using the word "Useless" and him in the same sentence put a bitter taste in his mouth, and he felt sad. However, he knew that was his truth at the moment, and he wouldn't push his luck too much.
He continued searching for a while, and when he realized that they weren't there, he decided to run in the direction from which he was hearing screams, hoping he would see them there.
Getting there, it wasn't what he was expecting at all, as in front of him were many more dead bodies, and what was shocking. The killers were beasts!
It was like a hundred horde of beasts invaded the town and was killing everyone in sight, making it hard for the weak humans to be able to do anything...
"This is strange. Beasts aren't that cruel or intelligent to kill this way. Someone is controlling them, and the person wants to kill everyone here, but why is that? Why does the person hate this place so much that he or she doesn't care even though they are seeing so many dead bodies?" he asked himself inwardly as he watched the remaining few villagers who were alive fighting for their lives.
Amidst these people were his father, Lucas, and Wendy; they were both injured but were still fighting and protecting the tired villagers. Damon couldn't watch it anymore. He hated to see people suffer like this, and being an angel, he knew he had to save as many lives as he could or he might be punished.
He took a step forward to try fighting, and a notification appeared in front of him for the third time ~ (Time to grow. Drink as much fresh blood as you can to get more powerful!)
(Failure to drink will lead to death!)
The message seemed like a worst nightmare to him, and he couldn't believe his eyes. As an angel, he ought to protect lives, but his new self wanted him to take their blood instead of saving them.
It was a huge transformation that hit him hard, making it a hard nut to swallow, but he couldn't reject it as he would if he did.
"Well... Let's try to take as many lives as possible while also taking their drops of blood!" He encouraged himself amidst the pain in his heart as he ran into the fray.
He planned to save the badly injured ones so they wouldn't be pressed to death by the angry beasts or the struggling villagers. He put his plan in place, he searched among the dead bodies, and fortunately, he was able to find some that weren't dead yet but wouldn't be able to continue fighting.
He would drag the injured to the side and look around to be sure no one was looking before he would take their blood.
He continued doing this for a while until he saw that he had saved almost all the badly injured ones, and just when he thought of looking for more, his eyes caught his father being cut in the belly, and his eyes widened.
His mother was already running to him, and so was he, but he could see that his father was almost on the verge of death. He grabbed his father before he could reach his hand, and without being told, he knew he might not survive it...
(Will you initiate your father to make him live?)
(A: Make him a vampire)
(B: Leave him to die.)
(You have one minute to decide!)

CHAPTER 37: ABSORPTION
Damon closed his eyes and slowly fell into the meditative stage. His consciousness blurred as he entered his own body, and right at the center of his belly, he could feel a drop of blood bubbling. The blood would grow and then decrease again. It was as if it was breathing. This shocked Damon. He had never seen anything of such before, and that beast, though strong, shouldn't be strong enough to create such a strange phenomenon in his body. Except that the beast was indeed strange. Damon couldn't understand why the blood wasn't dispersing in his body, but he also felt like the blood shouldn't hurt him either. Even if it did, he wouldn't let such a thing reside in his body. He steadied himself and began attacking the blood with the tiny energy of his body strengthening stage. He attacked continuously, but there was no effect. Damon didn't give up. One hour passed. Two hours passed. But the effect was still the same. Sweat was starting to form on his forehead. Damon opened h
CHAPTER 36: BEAST'S BLOOD
"We... We are sorry, Marcus. I'm sure Athos didn't know this." Lith apologized awkwardly. Damon looked at the guys, and he felt amused when he realised they were feeling bad for him. Why? They weren't the ones who killed his earthly family, so why were they feeling bad?He really couldn't understand these humans' thoughts. "It's nothing." Damon casually waved and walked over to his bed to sit. Right beside him was Martin whose gaze remained on him. The room fell into an awkward silence for a while before Luke cleared his throat. "Marcus," He called. Damon glanced at him. "Tomorrow, we are planning to visit the forest for our last hunting before the inner sect competition. Do you want to come along?" Luke asked. Lith perked up. "That's right. We want to grow a bit stronger before then. As you already know, our strength is among the weakest in the outer Sect, and if we are not careful, we might have to remain in the outer Sect for five more years. By then, it will be over for
CHAPTER 35: THE STRANGE BEAST
Damon was genuinely confused. He stared at the beast before him and slowly shook his head. "I'm not a beast." He had no time to wonder why he could understand the beasts' language. He knew he was running out of time. The beast also stared, seemingly confused. "You are not a beast?" It suddenly asked. Damon's brows creased. "I don't have this much time at the moment. Can you step aside, or do you want to fight?" He wouldn't let the beast cause his death. The beast frowned. "What do you think I'm doing? I'm here to kill you, of course!" It had lost its temper. Not only was the beast deceiving it, but it was also challenging its authority. How dare it?The beast's blood boiled. Damon swung his ICE sword and prepared for a fight. However, the beast immediately collapsed on the ground and began whimpering. "It's them." It cried out. "You are one of them. That sword... You are their new master!" It rolled on the ground, wanting to escape. "What do you mean?" Damon was confused. H
CHAPTER 34
Damon ran toward the direction of the forest. As the system had said, he only had a little more than two hours before he would die. Damon didn't want to joke with that. His life was important. If not for anything else, but for his family that died and for his revenge. He needed to stay alive and grow stronger. He ran as fast as he could, but the forest was far. He calculated the distance and concluded he would only get there in an hour or so. He had no such luxury. If he was to get to the forest around an hour, he would only have an hour left to look for a beast and drink it blood. What would happen if he was unable to find a beast within an hour? Wouldn't he lose his life then?Damon stopped on the way and panted hard. He wasn't sweating, but his breathing had turned ragged. He was exhausted. Running for a full thirty minutes without rest wasn't pleasant, and considering his failing health, he only grew more tired. He rested for a few seconds and began running again. Damon h
CHAPTER 33: DEATH IN TWO HOURS
Fred couldn't believe what happened. His eyes widened, and he glared at Damon. "You!" He shouted, but he was unable to complete his word when he fainted. Damon lowered his gaze to the sword in his hand. His brows furrowed. "This sword..." He mumbled. "Why is it so strange? The sword in this world should be low-level with little ability. Why do I keep feeling like this sword is even more powerful than the swords in my world? This strange feeling..." He was confused. When he struck Fred earlier, he could feel the overwhelming power that emanated from the sword. His heart had raced, and a feeling that the sword could kill him if he were to overuse it flashed in his mind. The sword was too powerful, and Damon was too weak. Weak... the word caused a bitter taste in his heart, but it only made him even more curious about the sword. "ICE Sword." He called, and he felt the sword tremble in his hand. His heart jolted. The sword had a spirit!"This..." Damon felt bewildered. "Swords with
CHAPTER 32: HIS FIRST FIGHT
Fred couldn't believe his ears as he looked at Damon. His curled-up body straightened up, and he turned around, seemingly searching for who Damon was talking to. "Are you talking to me?" He asked, his face filled with confusion. Damon frowned. He couldn't help but wonder if something was wrong with Fred. "Martins, how much did you beat him? He doesn't seem to be alright," He whispered, looking at Martins, whose gaze was still on him. Martin's eyes twitched, and he smiled, "He's just too weak. A single punch was all it took for him to lose his mind," He replied, his voice filled with mockery. Fred gritted his teeth; no matter how low the boys' voices were, he was still able to hear them, and that annoyed him to the core. "Hey, Punk. Who do you think you are?!" He yelled. Martins could be proud, taking into consideration his strength, but you? You are only in the 6th stage of the body-strengthening realm, and you think you can talk in front of me? Aren't you being too cocky?" Fred m
