"Lucas! You can't leave me like this. You know your son, and I can't leave without you. Please, you have to live!" Wendy cried as she kneeled beside her husband and her child.
She was panicking as she was scared. The last thing she wanted was to lose her husband... "Please..." She pleaded more.
Lucas looked at Wendy's face and shook his head sadly. "I wish to live too..." He said and turned to face Damon. "I want to stay with my son too. More than anything... I want to watch him grow up. I want to watch him laugh and play for a long time... I don't want him to see me like this either..." He struggled to say as blood was already dripping from the corner of his mouth.
Damon knew he was dying already, but he was in shock. He saw the notification that popped up in front of him, but he was divided. Would his father want to live even if it meant that he would become a vampire? Would he not hate him if he made him a vampire?
He had a lot of questions on his mind, and it was scary. "Dad..." He called softly, and Lucas raised his brows. "If there is a way... I mean, if there is a way for you to live even though you won't be a human anymore, will you take it?" He asked his father with bated breath.
He knew his question was crazy and his father would think of him as a crazy lad in his final moment, but the urge to protect his earthly parents took over him, and he wanted to try his best to keep them with him.
Wendy looked at him with disbelief in her eyes, but she didn't say a word as she turned to look at Lucas, who was still smiling. "Of course. If our little Marcus has a way to keep Dad alive, no matter what, Dad will turn to it, if he will still recognize his family and be able to protect our darling baby, he will gladly accept it." Lucas was trying his best to sound strong. The last thing he wanted was to sound weak at his last moment. He wanted his son to see him as a strong father to the very end.
Having gotten the answer, even though Damon was shocked by the answer, he knew he had no time and had to quickly do what he needed to do or he might lose Lucas. "I accept." He mumbled.
(Ding! You've agreed to turn human Lucas into a new being. Quickly put your blood in his mouth and let the ritual begin.)
Damon nodded his head. There was no time to think or be confused. He raised his free hand to his mouth, and at the thought, his teeth elongated, and he pierced his palm.
He placed his hand at the entrance of Lucas's mouth and let out a deep breath. "Please, drink my blood." He urged.
Lucas found everything strange, and he wondered what his son was doing, but more than that, he felt worse that he would be leaving him soon, so he wanted to do whatever his son wanted from him before he breathed his last. What was his blood that he couldn't drink if it would make him happy and not miss him too much?
Lucas opened his mouth, and the blood dropped into his mouth. Right then, he felt his insides burning aggressively, and before he knew it, the pain took over his body.
He bit his lower lip as he tried to control the pain and forced a smile on his lips. He knew at that moment that his son wasn't telling jokes when he asked that question and something was happening to his body, but he wondered what it was.
The pain went on for a while, but he tried his best to make sure none of his family found out about his pain so they wouldn't blame themselves, and soon, he felt everything calm down...
(Congratulations! You've created a halfling!)
(Power: 20%)
Damon smiled bitterly when he saw that, and before saying anything, he decided to check his power, too. He thought of it, and the screen came up to his view...
(Power: 55%)
"The blood I drank, I realized I gained 2% at times and 5% at times. It really piled up to make me this strong?"
"Lucas! Lucas!! Do you feel... better?"
He was still deep in his thoughts when Wendy's panicked voice drew him back to reality, and he quickly looked at his father. "Dad...' He called, unable to say a word to him.
Even though Lucas accepted before he did the ritual, he knew Lucas had no idea what was going to happen to him, and at most, he thought it was just a joke from a sad child who feared losing his father. Damon was scared of what Lucas would think of him from then on, and he wondered if he would still see him as his son.
Wendy grabbed Lucas's hand. "Are you awake?" She asked again.
Lucas let out a deep breath. He knew he was no longer himself, and he had a lot of questions he wanted to ask but more than that... "We need to save as many people as we can and leave here. The beasts are coming more, and we need to leave here on time, or it will be over by the time they all get here." He advised as he forced himself up from the ground.
Wendy was surprised, she wondered what was going on, but she found it hard to ask any question, either, as she knew that whatever was happening had to do with her son, and that scared her.
The family of three gathered the villagers that were still alive and ran into the forest, hoping to live a secluded and safe life in another place away from the ones trying to kill all of them.

CHAPTER 37: ABSORPTION
Damon closed his eyes and slowly fell into the meditative stage. His consciousness blurred as he entered his own body, and right at the center of his belly, he could feel a drop of blood bubbling. The blood would grow and then decrease again. It was as if it was breathing. This shocked Damon. He had never seen anything of such before, and that beast, though strong, shouldn't be strong enough to create such a strange phenomenon in his body. Except that the beast was indeed strange. Damon couldn't understand why the blood wasn't dispersing in his body, but he also felt like the blood shouldn't hurt him either. Even if it did, he wouldn't let such a thing reside in his body. He steadied himself and began attacking the blood with the tiny energy of his body strengthening stage. He attacked continuously, but there was no effect. Damon didn't give up. One hour passed. Two hours passed. But the effect was still the same. Sweat was starting to form on his forehead. Damon opened h
CHAPTER 36: BEAST'S BLOOD
"We... We are sorry, Marcus. I'm sure Athos didn't know this." Lith apologized awkwardly. Damon looked at the guys, and he felt amused when he realised they were feeling bad for him. Why? They weren't the ones who killed his earthly family, so why were they feeling bad?He really couldn't understand these humans' thoughts. "It's nothing." Damon casually waved and walked over to his bed to sit. Right beside him was Martin whose gaze remained on him. The room fell into an awkward silence for a while before Luke cleared his throat. "Marcus," He called. Damon glanced at him. "Tomorrow, we are planning to visit the forest for our last hunting before the inner sect competition. Do you want to come along?" Luke asked. Lith perked up. "That's right. We want to grow a bit stronger before then. As you already know, our strength is among the weakest in the outer Sect, and if we are not careful, we might have to remain in the outer Sect for five more years. By then, it will be over for
CHAPTER 35: THE STRANGE BEAST
Damon was genuinely confused. He stared at the beast before him and slowly shook his head. "I'm not a beast." He had no time to wonder why he could understand the beasts' language. He knew he was running out of time. The beast also stared, seemingly confused. "You are not a beast?" It suddenly asked. Damon's brows creased. "I don't have this much time at the moment. Can you step aside, or do you want to fight?" He wouldn't let the beast cause his death. The beast frowned. "What do you think I'm doing? I'm here to kill you, of course!" It had lost its temper. Not only was the beast deceiving it, but it was also challenging its authority. How dare it?The beast's blood boiled. Damon swung his ICE sword and prepared for a fight. However, the beast immediately collapsed on the ground and began whimpering. "It's them." It cried out. "You are one of them. That sword... You are their new master!" It rolled on the ground, wanting to escape. "What do you mean?" Damon was confused. H
CHAPTER 34
Damon ran toward the direction of the forest. As the system had said, he only had a little more than two hours before he would die. Damon didn't want to joke with that. His life was important. If not for anything else, but for his family that died and for his revenge. He needed to stay alive and grow stronger. He ran as fast as he could, but the forest was far. He calculated the distance and concluded he would only get there in an hour or so. He had no such luxury. If he was to get to the forest around an hour, he would only have an hour left to look for a beast and drink it blood. What would happen if he was unable to find a beast within an hour? Wouldn't he lose his life then?Damon stopped on the way and panted hard. He wasn't sweating, but his breathing had turned ragged. He was exhausted. Running for a full thirty minutes without rest wasn't pleasant, and considering his failing health, he only grew more tired. He rested for a few seconds and began running again. Damon h
CHAPTER 33: DEATH IN TWO HOURS
Fred couldn't believe what happened. His eyes widened, and he glared at Damon. "You!" He shouted, but he was unable to complete his word when he fainted. Damon lowered his gaze to the sword in his hand. His brows furrowed. "This sword..." He mumbled. "Why is it so strange? The sword in this world should be low-level with little ability. Why do I keep feeling like this sword is even more powerful than the swords in my world? This strange feeling..." He was confused. When he struck Fred earlier, he could feel the overwhelming power that emanated from the sword. His heart had raced, and a feeling that the sword could kill him if he were to overuse it flashed in his mind. The sword was too powerful, and Damon was too weak. Weak... the word caused a bitter taste in his heart, but it only made him even more curious about the sword. "ICE Sword." He called, and he felt the sword tremble in his hand. His heart jolted. The sword had a spirit!"This..." Damon felt bewildered. "Swords with
CHAPTER 32: HIS FIRST FIGHT
Fred couldn't believe his ears as he looked at Damon. His curled-up body straightened up, and he turned around, seemingly searching for who Damon was talking to. "Are you talking to me?" He asked, his face filled with confusion. Damon frowned. He couldn't help but wonder if something was wrong with Fred. "Martins, how much did you beat him? He doesn't seem to be alright," He whispered, looking at Martins, whose gaze was still on him. Martin's eyes twitched, and he smiled, "He's just too weak. A single punch was all it took for him to lose his mind," He replied, his voice filled with mockery. Fred gritted his teeth; no matter how low the boys' voices were, he was still able to hear them, and that annoyed him to the core. "Hey, Punk. Who do you think you are?!" He yelled. Martins could be proud, taking into consideration his strength, but you? You are only in the 6th stage of the body-strengthening realm, and you think you can talk in front of me? Aren't you being too cocky?" Fred m
