Neryssa knelt facing the mirror in her room. Her hair was neatly braided and packed neatly. She had a white dress on with royal embroidery but it was different from the one she wore the day Nico found her.

Torvald had met with Ylva to help him get the best royal attire she could place her hands on and knowing Ylva, finding important outfits like this was a piece of cake.

Being the daughter of an army general, she was entitled to many things but after the massacre her team went through ten years ago, her parents disowned her for not listening to them when they had earlier told her to quit being a beast hunter.

The only thing she could use was their name.

“You look beautiful.” Nico commented, resting on the door post.

She quickly stood up to acknowledge him. His outfit was rather casual and Neryssa raised a brow to show her disgust.

“What?” Nico's nonchalant attitude spilled.

He observed himself for a while and then looked at Neryssa again.

“What?” He said with a shrug.

“Princess Neryssa, is that you?” That old voice was familiar. Her words caught the attention of the three of them causing them to stop. Neryssa turned back slowly, excitement bubbling in her heart.“Grandfather!!” She called joyously. She watched her steps as she ran towards the old man on a white royal robe. The man was evidently older than Torvald but he had this influential demeanor.“How I've missed you so much, my little butterfly.” He complimented and waved his hands through her hair.“Butterfly?” Nico chuckled inwardly.Neryssa was flustered, the embarrassment evident in her face. She drove her small fists into her grandfather's guts and he pretended to acknowledge her attacks by making a defeated face. “No one calls me that anymore.” She protested but her grandfather shrugged. He proceeded forwards to acknowledge Torvald and Nico while Neryssa held his arm joyfully. “Nico, meet my grandfather–” “Lancelot Windcrest.” Torvald intercepted her and slowly approached him.Tens

  • PROMISE ME

Still holding Neryssa's wrist, he pulled her and they began to run towards the mountain. The guards with Arlen couldn't chase Nico as they needed to take care of their fallen prince. Nico and Neryssa on the other hand imbued their feet with mana to boost their speed. As they ran, they laughed in victory. Neryssa was happy– genuinely happy. Perhaps the first time she'd ever been truly happy. They ran until they got to a river and then they stopped to catch their breath. "Whoo!" Nico whooped."I don't think they'd chase us this far." Nico chuckled and proceeded to sit down, resting on both arms as he stared at Neryssa."Did you get the charcoal?" She asked. Nico showed her the bag that was used to conceal it. She walked to his side and sat down."I like it here." She said and hugged her knees."You'd eventually come to realize that there's no place better than home." Nico's own words began to bring back memories of the past. If Eleanor had lived to grow up, she'd have been the same

  • STRONGER?

Three years later. The incident that happened in the village had been long forgotten. The beasts sightings were still rampant and lives of unfortunate people were still at stake. Nico and Neryssa's training had progressed a lot. Thanks to the little teachings that Nico got from Ylva during his visits, he'd learnt a lot about his mana core and how to imbue his mana into his weapon.Neither Torvald nor Ylva knew the best way to teach the children how to remove impurities from their mana core, instead the kids were taught how to imbue mana into weapons for fighting.Today, the sky was clear and the chirping of birds could be heard. Below, the clacking of sticks could be heard. Torvald and Nico were at it.Striking with precision and skill. Torvald had the upper hand but Nico was holding his own."Good, Nico. Good."Their wooden swords collided again.CRACK!!There was a slight chip in Nico's sword. Nico knew better that if he broke his sword, Torvald would give him a beating of his lif

  • YLVA

Torvald's face brightened. These kids were really something. The boy had the rarest mana core ever known to man. A core even the higher ups would find difficult to decipher. The girl, a potential dual elemental mage having strong connection to the spirit. Since her family was known for producing the best wind mages, there was a probability she'd unlock the wind element. Fortunately, she already had an affinity for the earth element– spirit manipulation.Torvald chuckled slightly."Indeed Nico. You have a mana core, although you may not know." Nico was surprised. He placed his hand on his stomach. That explained why he was able to maintain stamina while running in the forest. But his mother had told him otherwise. Was it all a lie? "Neryssa. Do you know anything about mana regulation?" Torvald asked but the girl shook her head. "Nobody in my house knows I have an awakened core." It was just as Torvald had suspected. He began to swing his sword. Left. Right. Swing. Swing. At fir

  • HOW RARE IT IS

Nico ran through the forest over and over. The more he ran, the pictures of his mother kept appearing in his mind. She was his determination. The one thing he held on to– her smile. Her beauty. Her love. Nico ran the fifty seventh lap and stopped. His heart was beating faster than his blood flow, making it hard to breathe properly.Nico gasped and wheezed, grabbing his chest tightly. The pain was unbearable. He'd been running nonstop, shielding the pain with determination but now everything was starting to eat at him."Ahh…" Nico yelled and fell down on his knees, gritting his teeth in pain. This was worse than being stabbed through the heart. He fell on his face, squirming on the ground. The sky cracked. It was about to rain. The pain was already reducing. Nico stood up and as he made to run, the rain began to pour heavily. This would make it even harder.Slippery floor. Nico sped off. He began to run again ignoring the agonizing pain. As he ran, the rain drops stung him. It was li
