Miguel was right. Things kept getting worse. Social media was going crazy, heavily favoring Sophia as she granted them coverage after coverage, using each one to slander her ex-husband with passive aggression.

Everywhere Alejandro went, there was a crowd ready to hurt him because they believed he hurt Sophia. He watched how people insulted and slandered him on social media, calling him an abusive man, a liar, a cheat, a fraud, and so many hurtful things. It was getting to him.

That night, he turned off his phone and sank deeper into the sheets, hoping to fall into a deep slumber before the lights came on. He threw the covers to his midsection and he saw Miguel at the door.

“Why are you still awake?” Miguel asked.

“Nothing.” Alejandro said.

“I need to talk to you about something,” Miguel said, inviting himself in and moving closer to his friend's bed.

“If it's about what's going on, then I don't want to talk about it,” Alejandro replied quickly, pulling the sheets over his head.

But Miguel stopped him. “Running from your problems will not solve them. And you can hide as much as you want, but it won't change a thing. Even if you do decide to fight back, not many will take your side and your businesses will be adversely affected. The Great Pyramid is not making sales as expected. Think about it, Alejandro. You've worked hard for all you have, don't let her ruin it. Goodnight.” Miguel said and left.

Alejandro watched Miguel leave, feeling guilty. He wanted to close his eyes and wish for all the problems to disappear, but his friend was right. His words caused Alejandro insomnia.

The next morning, Miguel was in the kitchen, whipping up a cup of green tea for he and Alejandro. And just as he was taking it to his room, he saw his friend jogging down the stairs in a hurry, he wore a sky blue three piece and the Blazer had white and gold designs. He was looking good.

“Good morning.” Alejandro greeted him and took the cup from his hand, barely blowing before taking a sip.

“Where are you going?” Curiosity got the better of him.

“The Brown Mansion. I have business to discuss with my ex-wife.” And with that, he was out of the house. Miguel could only smile.

He finally arrived at the Brown's mansion and within a moment, the gate gave way and he drove in.

Sophia stood at the entrance. She had a dirty smirk on her face, she knew Alejandro would come to see her with all the noise she created. She watched him get out of the car, “Mr García.”

“Miss Brown.” He returned the greeting.

“Isnt it a pleasant surprise? I wasn't expecting you here.” Coy laced her voice as she slowly bit her lips in front of him. Alejandro rolled his eyes and pretended he didn't see that.

“There is no joy in this meeting, how much money do you want so you can stop this madness you're doing?” He was ready to offer any amount but would that be enough?

“Your last name, Alejandro.” She inched closer to him. “I don't want us to fight anymore Alejandro. Let's get married again and renew our vows.”

Alejandro was silent for a while, his mind was calculating, he looked at her stomach, and she read his mind, “It is your child Alejandro, I can explain it.” Her baby blue eyes softened with emotions, it had put him under a spell. He had always wanted to be a father…maybe it was his but how?

“Fuck Sophia.” He hissed on his breath, “I don't believe you're carrying my child. And I don't believe you have any good intentions for me. So what exactly do you want?”

“To reconcile. You're different now. You're rich.”

“You didn't see my value when I had nothing, why do you value me now?” He threw at her and she responded with a coy smile.

“Money is value. You know it Alejandro, look at how many things you have been able to do just with your wealth alone.” She proved a point but Alejandro wasn't like her at all. She knew she was losing him so she softened, “but…it is not the only reason, I felt bad after what happened between us, I made a mistake and threw you out of my life…now I'm pregnant.”

“That is not my child Sophia. It belongs to that sick lover of yours.” He hissed, he was already losing his cool.

“I swear on my mother, it belongs to you! That night…do you remember the night of the party when you woke up in a room?”

Slowly his memories pieced together and he could recall what she was talking about, “And?”

“I was in that room with you. We were in that room together.” and to prove it, she brought out the other half of the earring he had taken from that room.

“I believe you now. I'll make arrangements for you to move in with me and we'll renew our marriage vows.” Alejandro said and left.

As he left, Sophia couldn't contain her happiness. The first person she met was her mother.

“What did he say?” She asked anxiously but her daughter burst out in a maniacal laugh, right before closing the distance between them.

“He accepted, mother. The fool took everything in, hook, line and sinker. I can't wait to take everything from him.”

Meanwhile, In another part of the city, a man was being brutally beaten, blood pouring from his wounds as he lay on the ground.

Diego Morales watched without emotion as the man suffered. When he heard enough begging, he raised his hand, and his men stopped instantly.

“Master, please spare me! It wasn't my fault!” The man coughed up more blood, crawling slowly to Diego's feet and placing his forehead on the ground. “Grant me the chance of redemption. I don't want to die.”

“I don't care how you do it, but I want my $1 billion back, no matter what. If you don't bring it back, you'll lose your life.” Diego's voice was cold and unforgiving.

He has always helped them in the past, and she thought he would this time around too.She arrived at SkyCare Medical Center, stepping out of her black luxury sedan with a deep breath. The hospital’s glass facade gleamed under the afternoon sun, giving it an air of sterility and wealth. Inside, the lobby was spacious, the scent of antiseptic hanging in the air as nurses moved briskly from one station to another. The soft hum of conversations between patients, doctors, and visitors created a low, almost soothing background noise.Kate, dressed elegantly in a beige coat over a fitted dress, approached the reception desk with her usual poised demeanor. The receptionist, a young woman in a crisp uniform, looked up with a professional smile.“Good afternoon. How may I help you?”“I’m here to see Williams Jesse,” Kate said smoothly. The receptionist glanced at her

Chapter 34In the dark hallway, Valentina pressed her back against the cold stone wall, her heart pounding in her chest. The deep silence of the mansion surrounded her, broken only by the muffled sounds of the conversation coming from Diego’s study. She had been in the bedroom when the men entered, and unable to resist, she had tiptoed silently to the door to listen in.Though she hadn’t heard much of the conversation—her position had been precarious and the voices low—the part that had caught her off guard made her blood run cold. Javier had suggested hiring the best hackers in the world to break into Alejandro’s casino since the fire attack wasn’t successful, and Valentina’s mind had skipped at the thought. She didn’t know Alejandro personally, but from the little she’d gathered, he seemed like a young, innocent man who luckily won her husband’s scam lottery.Yet here was Diego, her husband, plotting to destroy him piece by piece. She couldn’t stand the thought of Diego manipulating

  • Chapter 33

Chapter 33The night was cloaked in a veil of restless clouds, the soft hum of distant crickets the only sound outside Diego’s sprawling mansion. Inside, the warm glow of chandeliers illuminated a room thick with tension. The mahogany table in Diego’s private study bore marks of age and power, much like the man who sat at its head. The thick smell of cigars mingled with the faint tang of spilled whiskey, curling through the opulent study like a specter of power. A half-empty wine bottle stood forgotten on the table, next to a silver tray dusted with the remnants of cocaine. The grand chandelier above cast flickering light, illuminating the tension etched into every corner of the room.Diego lounged in his leather armchair, a cigarette smoldering between his fingers. His dark eyes, sharp as a hawk’s, bore into the men seated before him. On the table, a glass of Malbec swirled lazily in his other hand, the deep red liquid glinting in the light. He didn’t need to speak; the silence was s

James, the butler, shuffled to the entrance, opening the door to reveal two women—Amy Johnson and Judy Miller.Amy wore a simple floral dress that flattered her petite frame, while Judy was dressed in bold designer clothing, her oversized sunglasses perched arrogantly on her head.“Welcome, ladies,” Mr. James said with a polite nod, stepping aside to let them in.Amy gasped, her eyes widening as she took in the grandeur of the mansion's new interior that Sophia had had made. “Oh my gosh, Judy, look at this place! It’s like something out of a movie!” she whispered excitedly.Judy rolled her eyes, stepping inside with a smirk. “Calm down, Amy. It’s not like you’re moving in. Chapter 31He left the gym and headed straight for Theo’s office. Pushing open the door, he found Theo reviewing the updated security plans.“Got a minute?” Miguel asked, shutting the door behind him.“Sure,” Theo said, leaning back in his chair. “What’s up?”Miguel crossed his arms, pacing slightly. “It’s about Sophia and that so-called gym instructor of hers, Oscar.”Theo raised an eyebrow. “What about them?”“I just saw them in the gym. The way they were interacting—too close, too familiar. He told her he missed her after the ‘kidnapping.’ It’s odd, Theo. He’s supposed to be her trainer, not her confidant.”Theo frowned. “You think there’s something going on between them?”Miguel stopped pacing, his expression serious. “I don’t just think it—I know it. And we need to keep a closer eye on them. There’s something about Oscar that doesn’t add up. He’s disrespectful to staff, acts entitled, and now he’s cozying up to Sophia.”Theo nodded thoughtfully. “Do you want me to escalate this?

The new gardener was trimming hedges, while a few maids hurried about their chores. At the gate, Martin, the elderly gateman, was performing his usual duties, meticulously inspecting everyone entering and leaving.A sleek, black car pulled up at the gate, and Oscar stepped out. Dressed in an expensive tracksuit and sunglasses, he looked around with a smug expression. He gestured impatiently at Martin, his tone sharp.“Hurry up, old man! Do you want me to stand here all day?” Oscar snapped, leaning against the car. “Open the gate already!”Martin, used to dealing with difficult people, remained calm but couldn’t hide the slight frown forming on his face. “I’m just doing my job, sir. Could you please confirm your identity?”Oscar scoffed, pulling off his sunglasses. “I’m Sophia’s gym instructor. She’s expecting me. Now stop wasting my time and open the gate!”Martin nodded
