"Daddy!"

Edgar smiled. He was very happy to meet Julian, Patricia's daughter, who he saw as a daughter too.

He was not her biological father, but he saw himself as so and she saw him that way too. And, that was why he kept tabs on when she was returning home, so he could rush to the airport to see her before her mother did.

"Julian."

Edgar's smile widened. He held his hands wide open for her and she ran into them.

"Dad, I really missed you."

And, for the first time in a long time, a tear rolled down his cheeks. The last time he cried was when his family got murdered. Well, Julian was not murdered, but the thought of today being the last time he was most likely to see her hurt him.

"Daddy, where is mummy? Is she still treating you badly?" Julian's face fell. "I wonder why mother is mean to you. You're just so nice and she treats you badly."

Edgar's chest squeezed in pain. Julian had no idea of the divorce.

"Julian," Edgar said softly. "You know daddy loves you."

Julian was visibly scared. "Whenever a character in a movie says that to his daughter, it's always bad news."

Edgar feigned a smile. "This is not as bad as the movies you watch end up to be."

"So you're agreeing it's bad?" Julian looked more worried. She gulped.

Edgar said nothing.

"Dad?" Julian was breathing faster than usual. "Why aren't you saying anything?"

Edgar swallowed. "Just know that whatever happens, remember that Daddy loves you. That one day, he'll come for you. Now, he just has to figure something out somethings."

"Are you leaving?" Her voice was low and sad. It broke his heart the more. Her eyes widened. "You are? It's mummy, isn't it? Did she send you out? How dare she?"

"I see the son of a bitch has poisoned your mind against me."

Edgar rolled his eyes. The plan was to meet Julian and leave before the witch came, but apparently, he could not avoid the fun that was coming.

He stood up straight and turned to see Patricia and her fiance, Harry, the heir of AT cars. Edgar smirked. If Patricia thought that marrying him was going to rectify her financial issues, then she was in for a big disappointment.

"Why would you call Daddy, 'son of a bitch'?" Julian glared at her mother who glared back.

"Are you talking to your mother however you like because of an outsider? And who the hell are you referring to as Daddy? Has he ever contributed anything financially to your life? Your mother feeds him and you're calling him father." Patricia furrowed her eyebrows, seeing that her daughter looked more defiant. "He has poisoned your mind, hasn't he? He must have told you bad things about me. Whatever he says is a lie. You shouldn't believe him. He isn't your blood. I am."

"I honestly wish the reverse was the case," Julian spat.

Immediately, Patricia raised her hands to slap Julian. Before she could, Edgar held her hand.

"How low would you stoop?" Edgar said, glowering at his ex-wife. "Are you seriously trying to slap her for saying the truth?"

"You have no right to interfere in one's family issues," Harry snorted.

Edgar smirked. "So he speaks. I thought you were dumb."

"Church rat, mind the manner you speak to me. It's pretty clear that we aren't on the same level," Harry said, eyeing Edgar from head to toe. He had a belittling look on.

"I don't know which is more disappointing. The fact that you got rid of one of the best men in the world or the fact that you would be getting married to one of the worst men one could ever imagine," Julian said, frowning, and her mother glared at her.

Edgar laughed. "It's crazy how true this is."

"Julian," Patricia called out. "Mind what you say. How dare you place a nobody above your father?"

"Father?" Julian scoffed. "I only have one father and you made sure to send him away. Well, that's your business, because I am following him wherever he goes."

"You're a minor. Who you would follow is not your choice to make. I am your biological mother and that makes me the right person to choose who you would join.

"If you try to force me to stay, I will run away," Julian threatened.

"If you get missing, do you think your Edgar would go scot free? Of course, he would be thrown into the cell until he provides you," Harry threatened and Julian glared at her.

"Outsiders are not supposed to chip in when family members are talking," Julian said, looking at Harry with hatred.

"Mind how you talk to him. He is your father. We should go home."

"I am not going home with you. Go back home and enjoy it with your lover and keep me out of it," Julian said with an air of finality.

"Little girl, if you refuse to cooperate with your mother and me, it would not be very good for your friend," Harry said and Julian stuck up her index finger.

"You're not the one to tell me what to do," Julian said.

"You're coming with us or I make sure he rots in jail for trying to manipulate a minor to go home with him," Patricia said with a smirk.

"That's not true," Julian whined.

"The fact that you think it isn't doesn't mean others won't think it is," Patricia said and Julian scowled at her.

"Baby girl, just listen to your mother. She knows what is best for you," Harry said and Julian glared at him. She hated his feigned concern. It was quite obvious that he wasn't interested in being here to pick her.

"I wasn't talking to you," Julian shouted.

Before anyone could know what was happening, Patricia struck her across the face.

Immediately, Edgar did the same .

"Harry," Patricia whined.

At Patricia's call, Harry snapped his finger and four men arrived at the scene immediately.

Three of them began to beat up Edgar. The fourth one rushed to Julian who was about to reach out to Edgar. He grabbed her and dragged her away despite her protest.

Edgar watched, angry not because he was beaten up. Pain meant nothing to him anyway.

He was angry because he could do nothing but watch as his daughter was mistreated by a nobody. He was angrier at the fact that the reason it was so was not because he was unable to stop whatever Harry and Patricia were doing.

This was all the doings of a man whose face and name he does not know.

"Stop trying to find a place here when you obviously can't fit in.""Don't you think you're sounding a little bit like Violet and her daughter?"Edgar scoffed in disbelief. "Are you seriously comparing me to those evil family members of yours?""I'm not. I just feel like you're making Sid feel how they both tried to make us feel. I feel we should be able to connect to Sid and not try to discriminate him because —""Because he is poor? You think I am behaving the way I am towards him because I feel he is poor?" Edgar scoffed. Edgar spat angrily after watching a video Patricia uploaded online. In the video, Patricia told the whole world how He was the lazy brother. How he and Lucas were from the street but Lucas was just smart enough to con a rich old man and became rich himself. She said that Edgar had tried to do the same by marrying rich women like herself and Edna but won't succeed because he is stupid."That vile woman called me stupid." "Am I dead?" Edna asked as soon as her eyes flipped open. She looked around and after a while began to recognize the room she was in. She was at home and in her room with Edgar and Lucas peering at her."Is heaven a replica of what our environment looks down on earth? Or, are we in hell? And, why is Lucas with us? Was he in the car with us? Why—""We are not dead," Edgar had to chip in."I saw the truck. We should definitely be dead by now." She sat straight up on the bed and began to inspect Edgar's body. She did the same to herself. "And how on earth did we not sustain any injury." Then, she gasped. "Was I in a coma? What year is this? Were you in a coma?"Edgar shook his head. "I'm also as confused as you are as to how we survived but today is still the same day the accident almost occured.""Almost? It did not?" Edna was shocked.
