"Are you crazy?"

Edgar watched with a straight face as Lucas paced up and down the room. Of course, he knew Lucas would get mad but did he care? No.

"We are trying to avoid the murderer of---"

"We are not trying to avoid him. We are trying to find out who he is and deal with him." Edgar glowered. "I want revenge for the death of my family members. I am not avoiding that son of a bitch."

Lucas stopped pacing.

"That does not mean you should be foolish. You should be able to see danger and avoid it, but you saw danger and dived right into it."

"That tattoo on Meyer Jones' arm shows that he once worked for the murderer of my family. He is my ticket to knowing the identity of the murderer. He was always involved in their murder. I have to teach him a lesson too, but that will be after I have gotten what I want."

"If the one you seek could just be found by asking his subjects then he would have been found a long time ago," Lucas pointed out. "You would get nothing by interrogating Meyer Jones. You would be exposing yourself instead."

"Then I have to sneak around and get information myself," Edgar said with an air of finality.

"You should not do that either. Meyer Jones is no ordinary person. He is dangerous. You should stay far---"

"So how do I avenge my parents' death?" Edgar thundered. "By pretending to be a nobody and getting insulted, right? I should avenge my parents' death by acting the role that whoever that son of a bitch wants me to. I have been doing so since I was ten. What has been the result? You have no say in my life. This time, I am doing what I want to do."

"You were ten when your family got killed. I, on the other hand, was older and more exposed. I know the kind of person the murderer is too well. Do you think any ordinary person can kill your father? Your father was a demigod. He was the son of a god for crying out loud. You were born human. You only have powers an average person does not possess because your father got them for you. Your father was more powerful than you would ever be but he got killed." Lucas paused talking to look at Edgar's face. "If he could kill your father, what makes you think he can't kill you? Should I tell you the truth, it's best you live low key and try your best to avoid whoever killed your father because you might never be able to kill him. You might get killed yourself instead."

"So, all this while your aim was to make me hide from my parents' murderer all my life." Bruce gave a short laugh of disbelief. "You underestimate me," Bruce said hoarsely.

"Say it however you think it is. I am doing what I think is best for you."

"You don't have to. I make my decisions now," Edgar said sternly.

"What might that decision or those decisions be?"

Edgar smirked. "Decision number one, I would be getting married soon. And, Edna Jones would be my bride."

The next day, Edgar visited his grandma, who was in a coma. And for 'safety purposes', no, she was not in a regular hospital. Edgar had to hide her in one of his mansions and get her treatment from a doctor who was not allowed to leave the house.

"Grandma," Edgar called out. He knelt before the bed of his grandma. His eyes clouded with tears. It was the first time he cried in a long time. The first was when he watched his family murdered.

"I finally found a way to avenge the death of our family members and your sufferings in the hands of that monster. Lucas said he is dangerous. He is saying I can't avenge everyone's death. Grandma, can you imagine? You're lying down almost dead. Father, mother, my cousins, everyone is lying six feet under, dead. How on earth would I let him go free? Grandma, I would get married to Edna Jones, Double cross her father and make him help me get who killed our family members. When I get him, I would kill him, kill Meyer Jones and every soul involved in the death of our family members." Edgar stood on his feet. With the back of his palm, he wiped every bit of tears on his face.

"Can I contribute to your plans?"

Edgar frowned. The last he wanted to hear was Lucas' commanding voice.

"Go home, Lucas. I don't want, nor do I need you here," Edgar said hoarsely.

"Can you hear me out?"

"You're not stopping me from marrying Edna. You can do your worst."

"I am not stopping you. You can in fact marry her and try to get your revenge-"

"I am not trying to get revenge. I am getting that revenge," Edgar interrupted.

"Great. I am here to make sure you get it and not get into trouble."

Edgar turned to him. Lucas had managed to get his interest a little. "What do you plan on doing?"

"You're the one to do something. Before you go on with the plans you have, you have to make me a promise." Lucas reached into the file and brought out some papers. "You have to sign these papers in fact."

"And what do they say?"

"During the period of you trying to get revenge on your father's murderer, you would have no access to your money until you manage to get the revenge you want."

Edgar glared at him. "You're doing it again."

"Meyer Jones is a smart man. He takes note of things. He monitors his daughter. What makes you think he would not do the same to you when you get married to his daughter. And, one more thing-" Lucas paused and watched the face of Edgar. "You have to pause visiting your grandma during this period too."

"Get out," Edgar snarled.

"Are you scared? Aren't you confident that you would hunt down everyone who has a hand in your family's death. Take this as a challenge with your grandma as a witness. If you're doing this, do it with the mind that you lose and lose all. Your money and seeing your grandma."

"LUCAS!" Edgar was red hot— angry.

"Unless you're unsure of getting that revenge."

Without thinking, Edgar snatched the papers from Lucas' hand, took out a pen from the pocket of his shirt and scribbled on the papers.

"I, Edgar Plutus, Last Descendant of the god of money himself will hunt down the murderer of my father. As long as I am alive, he or she will die."

He said something about the watch alerting him if she gets into any form of danger."Hope you know that wristwatches are not allowed in."Edna frowned as her father spoke. "I thought we could not take phones in.""And wristwatches too," Meyer added."Oh, okay."Well, that wasn't a problem. Edgar had told her to hide the wristwatch if it was not allowed along with a small phone he gave to her. According to him, no one could detect it even with a detecting machine or whatever it was called. She trusted that he was right. Edgar was f

Edna gave Edgar a small smile when she saw him walk into her office. Somehow, she was grateful for the accident that almost took place. She liked the fact that Edgar now picked her from work after closing hours."Ma'am, your husband is here," Sid, who was standing before her, announced as soon as he saw Edgar too."She saw me so you don't really have to announce it," Edgar glared at Sid. "Stop trying to find a place here when you obviously can't fit in.""Don't you think you're sounding a little bit like Violet and her daughter?"Edgar scoffed in disbelief. "Are you seriously comparing me to those evil family members of yours?""I'm not. I just feel like you're making Sid feel how they both tried to make us feel. I feel we should be able to connect to Sid and not try to discriminate him because —""Because he is poor? You think I am behaving the way I am towards him because I feel he is poor?" Edgar scoffed. "Wow!""Because my father employed him." Edna said, frowning. "That was what

Questions of Edgar's true background were asked by everyone.Edgar watched Lucas pace up and down his room. He hated the publicity they were getting, regretting the action he took at Edna's workplace."Have you seen the downgrading video that the daughter of the devil herself made for me?" Edgar spat angrily after watching a video Patricia uploaded online. In the video, Patricia told the whole world how He was the lazy brother. How he and Lucas were from the street but Lucas was just smart enough to con a rich old man and became rich himself. She said that Edgar had tried to do the same by marrying rich women like herself and Edna but won't succeed because he is stupid."That vile woman called me stupid." Edgar was pissed."Don't we have better things to worry about? The news is everywhere. My face is

The next day at work, news of Edna and Edgar getting a VVIP invitation to The Clique restaurant was what everyone could talk about.Edgar, afraid that there might be another accident, decided to take Edna to work and as they both walked in, the volume of the gossip only reduced.Everyone whispered what they thought to each other as they watched the court walk past them.‘It must be the doings of Meyer Jones.’One of the workers said and Edgar clenched his fists. It took a lot of willpower for Edgar to walk pass without throwing a fist at his face. ‘It is not, Meyer Jones hates that Edgar had taken his daughter out of his house and Meyer Jones himself has never gotten an invite.’‘Then, who did?’ Someone else asked."She probably slept with the owner to get two tickets for herself and her husband," a brunette said. "Am I dead?" Edna asked as soon as her eyes flipped open. She looked around and after a while began to recognize the room she was in. She was at home and in her room with Edgar and Lucas peering at her."Is heaven a replica of what our environment looks down on earth? Or, are we in hell? And, why is Lucas with us? Was he in the car with us? Why—""We are not dead," Edgar had to chip in."I saw the truck. We should definitely be dead by now." She sat straight up on the bed and began to inspect Edgar's body. She did the same to herself. "And how on earth did we not sustain any injury." Then, she gasped. "Was I in a coma? What year is this? Were you in a coma?"Edgar shook his head. "I'm also as confused as you are as to how we survived but today is still the same day the accident almost occured.""Almost? It did not?" Edna was shocked. She was happy, but shocked."It is a miracle. If you ask me how? I honestly don't think I can give a reply."Edna heaved a sigh of relief and with a smil

"Were you the one who tidied up my office?""Yes, I am," He replied with a smile. "I saw—""I'm grateful but please do not do it again. Strangers are not allowed to walk into my office the way they like. The fact that it is not always locked does not mean a random person can walk in the way they like."Sid's face fell.
