Chapter 1

In a room filled with rugged looking men, at the top middle sat one of them, dressed in all black with a visible tattoo of a snake sketched right at his neck, that has chains and earrings studding the body parts up to his two small looking ear, matted on his head was a spiky cut that assessed him a dangerous look.

In between the palm of his right hand was a gun with the tip placed above his lips while his elbow rested on the chair’s arm.

With the way everyone’s head in the room was bowed plus the apprehensive expression on their faces, one could guess he’s the boss of them all.

The room was a little dark, only litted by a low glowing blurb hanging down at different far angles of the room’s ceiling.

On the floor on his knees was another man; a bit tattered, with a face marred with rage as his lowered gaze moved round the room filled with men surrounding him with anger. Are they kidding him?

“I don’t like repeating myself, Marco.” The man seated above him stated, his hoarse voice reeling through the silent room. “I would be collecting my two hundred thousand dollars right now.”

The words iterated through his hearing and all he could do is express his anger passively.

Ten Days ago he came to them and borrowed a total sum of hundred thousand bucks to save her life; Gina Verlice, his girlfriend.

And now they summoned him to let him know that he should come pay the doubled amount of what he borrowed back to them right now, while he originally heeded their call to plead for more days because he has nothing to give yet.

“Please you have to give me more days than that, I beg of you please.” Marco had no option than to keep begging.

He doesn’t have the money to pay the hundred thousand yet and now it’s doubled, the least they can do is give him more days.

Days ago he and his girlfriend was just preparing for a dinner date when she slumped to the floor all of a sudden losing conscious.

Marco had immediately rushed her to the city’s hospital where she was admitted and scheduled for a surgery with a whooping bill of hundred thousand dollars.

The doctor said she has been battling with some rare disease now in her blood and it has eaten deep within her system causing life threatening but repairable problems in her.

Marco would have gotten the money from Gina’s parent because they’re one of the richest people in the city, but he had zilch knowledge of what Gina’s phone password is made of, thus having him stranded and turning to a mafia gang for help.

He believed when Gina is well she would get the money back from them for him.

The mafias borrowed Marco the money and he took care of Gina.

However, when she recovered she broke up with him, said she was going to do it after their date before shattering his heart further.

Then she also refused to pay the money he used in settling her surgery bills back because she felt the money was too much for a surgery, that Marco is trying to fraud her.

That was how Marco got in the situation, and now the mafia which borrowed him the money are now asking for double of what they gave him.

“Alright then, call I lend your phone to call my girlfriend and ask for the money?” Marco requested, voicing out in a soft polite tone to keep the dangerous man he’s talking to calm and least peeved.

The boss stared at him for awhile before bringing out his mobile, giving it to one of his men beside him to pass onto Marco.

Marco collected the phone, input Gina’s phone number at the dialer before sending the call through.

“Put it on speaker and let me hear her speak.” The boss commanded and Marco quickly did as he said.

At the third ring the call was answered with a female voice booming from the end. “Who is this?” She had asked in an impatient tone.

“It’s me, Marco.”

“Haven’t I warned you to stop calling me, to forget my number and never call again-“

“Please you have to pay back the money I owed for your sake, please.” Marco cut her off pleading instead.

A laugh sounded from the phone coming from Gina’s end.

“For my sake you said? Did I beg you to save me? No I didn’t, so don’t you dare say it’s for my sake. How much did you say the money is again?” Gina’s tone was filled with mockery and irritation.

“Two hundred thousand dollars now, the man whom I borrowed from increased the money.” Marco responded.

“What a damn liar, it’s now two hundred dollars. I remember very well ten days ago when I asked and you said it was hundred thousand dollars, but now two hundred.” Gina yelled at him on the call.

“What an obvious fraud. I’m pretty sure the money you use in saving the life I didn’t beg you to save is not up to a thousand bucks and yet here you are lying constantly about it.”

“I wonder if it’s going to increase to three hundred tomorrow or ten days later. Get a better reason to fraud, not that someone increase your debt. Get the hell out of my phone and never call my line again, else I will file a case against your broke filthy worthless ass!” She spat those words before putting an end to the call.

There’s nothing Marco can do now. Although he’s desperate but all at this point he should just give up because nothing can be done.

He lifted his gaze up at the boss, then he said to him, “As you can see I’m betrayed by my girlfriend I thought I would get your money back from. She betrayed me and now there’s no way I can pay you back, so if there’s anything you wish to do to me, then do it and be over with it.”

His voice was solemn, awaiting the doom that knocks on his soul.

The boss laughed at his words, “I love your guts Marco, but like I promised, your blood pays if you’re unable to pay my money back.”

The boss stood up from where he sat, returning the gun he had with him back to his pocket and opting for a dagger instead, collecting it from one of his men.

Marco closed his eyes expecting the tragedy of his life coming to an end to fall on him while his ears pricked in apprehension of the approaching footsteps of no other person than the doer.

Silently he prayed for a miracle, wishing his girlfriend would call back and suddenly say it’s a prank and that she would pay the money and get back together with him.

He trusted the wrong person, loved the wrong person and now this is the result.

At the verge of the knife plunging into his heart the entrance gate to the warehouse were all is happening bursted open.

The dramatic action having the two metal doors breaking out of hold and rendered useless, causing a tensed feeling of fear to run up everybody’s mind on who could break down the door.
