After arriving in his room, William sat on the bed and opened his character status to observe his progress so far.
------------- Name - William Ashworth HP -100% MP - N/A ( Unlock mana at Lvl 10 ) Level - 9 (590/1330) Legacy Order: 0 Title - N/A Blessing - N/A STATS Strength - 55 Defense - 55 Agility - 57 Luck - 4 Unassigned points - 18 SKILLS Swordmaster Lv 2, Wild Beast Extermination Lv 1 INVENTORY --------------- William observed the growth he had managed to obtain, he had grown by over five levels since the last time he checked his character status, which was a lot of progress. Since he unlocked his system, he hadn’t allocated any of the unassigned points. The only time he considered doing so was to increase his luck, but finding that impossible, he forgot about allocating any and instead began stacking them for a time he would need them. From the words of Osborne, the Mountain of Skulls was several times more dangerous than Darkwood Forest and the feared bridge combined. The Mayhem Skull alone was already enough reason for him to worry. William had to grasp all the opportunities available to improve himself as soon as possible. Not wasting any time, he clicked on the unassigned points and a new tab opened. ------ Strength – 55 (+) Defense – 55 (+) Agility – 57 (+) Unassigned points – 18 ----- William observed the floating holographic window with a contemplating expression on his face, wondering how to divide the unassigned points evenly. This was a crucial decision to be made, he considered the skills in his possession and the only weapon in his arsenal. Agility and strength would be the most important—the faster he swung the sword and the stronger the force behind it, the more effective it would be. William didn’t really understand how the defense stat worked, but he knew enough not to neglect it. After a few seconds of further consideration, he began allocating points. -------- Strength – 63 (+8) Defense – 58 (+3) Agility – 64 (+7) Unassigned points – 0 ------ “Hmm… this is good enough,” William observed his new stats and nodded, satisfied. “I just hope it is good enough should a Mayhem Skull really appear.” William closed his character status and fell asleep a few minutes after. Time went by swiftly and evening arrived, the sun was still up in the sky but had already lost its scorching component. Its gentle radiance graced the few crew members strolling towards the mountain of skull. William and Theobald led the walk as usual, while the others followed behind them. William’s eyes were fixed on the mountain of skull, it appeared bigger and clearer the closer he was to it. The mountain of skull wasn't that far away and would take at least three hours of uninterrupted strolling to reach it. "Today’s training was incredible. I feel stronger and more energized after resting, each time I hold my sword, I feel a new and stronger connection with it." Theobald was a little talkative with William as they strolled together. The captain did not stop talking about the thrilling feeling of getting stronger and how he wishes to continue experiencing it. He even inquired what William would do once the mission was over. He wanted to know if the hero could remain in their world for a while and impart more of his sword knowledge to him. Unfortunately, even William did not know how that works. What happens after he completes his main quest was unknown to him. If he would disappear immediately or stay for some time before returning to earth was a mystery he did not bother to disturb himself with at the moment. "In your world, are there swordsmen like yourself? What weapon and combat technique is mostly used in your world?" Theobald continued after William ignored his previous question. William sighed, talking is a simple task he considers tiresome and useless in most cases, like right now with Theobald. Back in his highschool, he was known as the quiet kid for a reason. While he would love to be left alone, he also needed something to distract him from the conflicting thoughts driving his head crazy. "The weapons we employ in my world are too sophisticated and advanced compared to your world. Sword still exists but it is nothing but an ancient weapon and a plaything for kids, only a few ancient clans respect and impart their offspring with the way of the sword." William narrated gently. Theobald became even more curious hearing his replies and inquired about a description of the weapons. William unwillingly told him about guns and nuclear weapons strong enough to wipe an entire continent off the map in minutes or even seconds. The captain was mind-blown by the sheer existence of such a scary weapon. A crazy thought even appeared in his head, he wondered if they could create such a weapon in this world and how effective it would be. Of course, William ignored the questions regarding that particular thought. Osborne and King Julian joined in the conversation when it got interesting. Both of them wanted to learn about the hero's world of origin and his past. They asked questions about what his position was in his world, who his parents and childhood was and many others. The other soldiers also got involved, very soon, they were all discussing while strolling towards the deadly mountain. Everyone was curious about the hero and his past. The discussions about it made them forget temporarily about their precarious situation. A gentle and peaceful atmosphere blossomed amongst them as they proceeded towards their destination. A gentle breeze from all corners of the world blew against their faces, an eased feeling washed over the fibre of their being. Time continued to move swiftly, before they knew it, they were standing at the base of the mountain of skull. The crew fell into abrupt silence, only the strange, low cacophony of sounds escaping from the mountain could be heard. .... The maleficent and magnificent structure of the mountain of skull lay bare before the crew, a wonderful yet dangerous sight to behold. The low, ominous sounds escaping from the mountain added another layer of mischief to its appearance. It brought about silence amongst the crew. They halted, taking in the magnificent structure with different emotions displayed in their eyes. Nervous gulps escaped the mouth of a few soldiers. ‘Standing close to it feels like standing before a bomb, ready to explode,’ thought William as he scanned his surroundings. Surrounding the base of mountain were skeletal remains of inhuman creatures. The smallest skeletal remain on sight was bigger than an average human being, and the biggest one was a lot bigger than two elephants combined. The structure and sizes of the remains alone reminded the crew of the danger that existed within the mountain of skull. If such gigantic creatures could not survive the mountain of skull, would it be possible for the measly human to survive? Osborne observed the maleficent structure for a few seconds before bringing out a map from his spatial pouch. The lines of the lap had a soft glow that made it more eligible in the dark. He began tracing lines on the map with his wrinkly finger while observing the mountain from time to time. A few minutes later, he pointed at the biggest skeletal remains on sight, and the crew began strolling towards it. Five to ten minutes later, they arrived at the location. The skeletal remain was even bigger up close and shockingly, based on its appearance, it was just the upper torso. Its head and lower torso were missing. Some of the crew memes could not help but gasp in disbelief. Just how big was the creature when alive? Beside the massive size of the skeletal remain, the crew were also greeted with some sort of staircase carved into the body of the cave. Staring from below, the ancient staircase only reached a certain height, where a massive cavity could be seen. Osborne briefly explained the route to them — The staircase were created by the first humans that existed and the cavity on sight was a massive tunnel dug by a Chiselclaw that existed long ago. The staircase ends at the opening of the massive cavity. “Passing through the tunnel is a lot faster and safer than climbing. However, the tunnel does not directly lead to the other side.” Osborne explained. According to research and history, a magical path existed within the tunnel that would lead to the other side of the dark mountain. Osborne explained the lore about the magical path, and it was both scary and interesting. After digesting the information from the wizard, the crew braced themselves and began walking through the ancient staircase. William led the journey, his sword equipped and eyes scanning his surroundings vigilantly. Fortunately, there were no abnormalities on sight. Only skeletal remains filled the path leading to the cavity. The low, ominous sounds escaping from the mountain of skull became clearer and louder as they approached the cavity. The sound was difficult to describe. It sounded like peaceful moving water and low cries of abnormalities at the same time. Randomly, the crew would hear low growling sounds and even inhuman whistles escaping from the cavity. These sounds were scary enough to make anyone give up, but with William leading, the crew were confident of surviving. Thirty minutes to about an hour slowly went by gently — the evening sun had disappeared and darkness covered the entire region. The moon still hadn’t appeared, and the crew were temporarily blinded. Fortunately, Osborne possessed a peculiar lantern with a mesmerizing glowing crystal inside it that gave off a beautiful glow resembling the early morning sun. He handed the crystal lantern to the hero and it instantly became the only source of illumination. With the help of the crystal lantern, the journey resumed at its former pace, their destination became even more visible, only a few minutes away. “We are here!” William halted on the last step leading into the wide opened cavity, and announced to the rest of the crew. From his position and with the aid of the bright glowing lantern, the hero was able to observe the tunnel path ahead. The tunnel appeared endless, stretching over a long distance—so long that light could not touch certain parts of it. It was also wide and very tall, an elephant would even appear really small strolling through the tunnel. The floor of the tunnel was rough and jagged, and a lot of skeletons could be seen lying in different positions. A pile of them could even be seen stacked up not too far away into the tunnel. The ominous noise earlier was even louder and appeared to be coming from deep within the tunnel—at a distance the crystal lantern couldn't reach. William could not help but wonder just how big the Chiselclaw that dug the tunnel was. Osborne and Theobald stepped up to behold the sight of the tunnel as well, and they were equally as puzzled as William. Fortunately, there were no abnormalities on sight as they had expected. Aside the skeletons and the ominous sound escaping from the deepest part of the tunnel, the path was safe. William heaved a sigh and took the first step into the scary tunnel. His feet stepped on and crutched a little skeletal remain at the entrance, sending a crunching sound echoing. Osborne, Theobald, King Julian, and the remaining soldiers followed after the hero silently. Their steps, although cautious and silent as it could be, still echoed into the tunnel, revealing its emptiness. As they stepped deeper into the tunnel, their eyes did not stop wandering and observing the wide tunnel. Just what fate awaits them?

Early morning had already arrived over the dark island. The sun shone brightly over the evil island, radiating a strong golden glow and heat. The sun easily permeated the small confinement of the room which only comprised of a few wooden chairs, a bed and a tall wooden cupboard where the previous owner of the room kept their wands and attires.Inside a spacious, dimly-lit room at the dark island, the core members of the two groups could be seen standing around a small desk.Melissa and Peterson brought out a more detailed ancient map of the place and described it to William and Theobald who represented their group. Only two members were allowed to attend the meeting thus both of them were sent."The first three floors are very easy to clear, they comprise mostly of mid-level apprentice wizards with barely enough mana in their mana reserve to cast powerful spells. While they are a little bit stronger than the wizards guarding the fences, they are not that much trouble for a well-traine

His information and description were clear and vivid—better than reading it from a map.Melissa and a few members of her squad also added to the information available. As they had been around the tower for several days, their understanding of the place was an important lesson to William and the others.During their discussions, they had to halt several times—either when the surveillance light flashed in their direction or when actual members of the cult walked by.They were able to finish their discussion without drawing that much attention to themselves. After they were done discussing, they began preparing to act on the plans they had just finalized."Here."Melissa

So you guys heard the same thing?" The one in the middle replied."Frederico wasn't lying, I overheard two of our superiors discussing about his arrival.""I suspect something important would go down in a few days. The great leader never visits the tower unless for a very important event, could it be that the preparing of the grand ritual has been completed and he is here to finalize it?"The

William and the crew could be seen strolling towards the vast water body with silent and cautious step. At the moment, each of them had a long black fabric covering their head. The black fabric served as a camouflage each time the beam of the light rotated in their direction. As the land was plain and filled with dark sand and skeletal remains, covering themselves in black clothings made them more difficult to detect from afar.Thankfully, this barren land had no sort of abnormalities, not even corrupted creatures that usually raided the night. If there were unlucky enough to have faced anyone, their location would be revealed to the cult once and their entire plan would be ruined."Walk faster! We need to be at the island before morning arrives!"Theobald announced to the others while strolling beside the hero. Only the faint crescent light of the full moon hanging in the sky battled the intense blackness. Not far from his current position, William’s gaze fell on a truly vast, large water body that stretched over a long distance, seemingly unending from his perspective. The hero needed no geography expert to tell him this was Dark Island, the sacred landmark and hideout of the most terrifying dark wizard cult in this dark world. The sound of water calmly flowing could be heard clearly, and the waters were almost visible as they softly reflected the moon."What is that?"A surprised voice muttered behind the hero as its owner’s eyes suddenly and instantly fell upon a mysterious, silhouetted structure ris
