Name ‒ William Ashworth
HP ‒ 100% MP ‒ N/A (Awakening phase) Level ‒ 12 (1165/2700) Legacy Order ‒ 0 Title ‒ Savior (36 hrs remaining) Blessing ‒ N/A STATS Strength ‒ 78 Defense ‒ 78 Agility ‒ 81 Luck ‒ 4 Unassigned points ‒ 2 SKILLS Swordmaster Lv 2, Wild Beast Extermination Lv 1 INVENTORY William made up his mind the moment his character status went up on what stats to allocate his unassigned points to. When he was cornered earlier by the army of undead, he had realized just how much he had underestimated his defense stats. Also, knowing that he would soon be engaged in battle against wizards who would definitely haul powerful spells at him, increasing his defense still remained the best option. He had six unassigned points, he decided to allocate five to his defense stats and the remaining one to his agility stats. He would also need to be as fast as he could to evade spells and infiltrate the hideout of the cult. --- Strength ‒ 78 Defense ‒ 78 Agility ‒ 81 Luck ‒ 4 Unassigned points ‒ 6 --- Seeing the new numbers, he nodded his head and closed the window before turning to look at the others who were already finishing their preparation. “Gather up, everyone, for a final briefing!” Theobald called out to everyone. Including the king, they all gathered around the captain, who began rebriefing and also sharing special tips. “The hideout of the cult would house a lot of traps, we should be very careful!” Osborne added. “Also, no one speaks throughout the ordeal. If you want to pass information, do so with signals. I fear the cult have put in place special spells that detect voices—one of my colleagues specially made me remember this warning,” the old wizard continued. King Julian also spoke more on the topic, motivating his soldiers as best as he could and promising them that it would all be over soon. William really didn’t have much to add to the conversation. He didn’t even know how the dark island looks or where the hideout is located within the island. Thus, he could not really provide a suitable warning. Nevertheless, he made a speech of motivation that boosted the morale of the soldiers. “You’ve always put your trust in me since I arrived in this world. Each fight, your cheers have always been the fuel pushing me forward, and my growth so far can be accredited to all your support. This is the time for me to prove that your beliefs are not futile. This is the time for me to fulfill the purpose for which I was summoned—and I promise you this: failure is not an option to me! We shall step into the dark island and we shall conquer all the evil that dwells within. Your people who have been held captives by those evil goonies will be rescued, and light will finally return!” William’s voice was loud, filled with extreme confidence that flowed with his words. Upon listening, the hope of everyone blossomed. A new will to conquer was born, the will not only to survive but to succeed grew. Emotions beyond their own explanation welled up within them, and they subconsciously erupted into a loud chant! “We shall succeed! Victory is ours!” “We shall succeed! Victory is ours!” Their confident, loud voices echoed across the tunnel. William observed the expressions on the faces of the soldiers, and a soft smile displayed on his face. “Rise up and brace yourselves for entrance.” William aimed his gaze at the portal and smoke in a calm tone. Sounds of swords being unsheathed, armors being fastened, and deep breaths reverberated following William’s words. King Julian was no longer in his royal attire. The king was now geared up in black steel armor that gave off a strong presence. A longsword was strapped on his waist, and a steel helmet was held in his hands. The king lifted the helmet and wore it over his head, a stern expression plastered on his face. Osborne was still in the same attire. A long wooden staff with a purple crystal orb at its tip was in his grasp. He, too, had a stern and serious expression. William tilted his head backward to see the already prepared crew. He flashed them a smile and nodded before stepping closer to the portal. He halted for a few seconds, observing the fast-spinning vortex that mirrored in his eyes. “This is it—the final phase of my mission,” he muttered, and heaved a long sigh before stepping into the portal. A peculiar, unexplainable sensation evaded his body as he crossed over to the other end of the spatial spell. The crew members followed right away. King Julian stepped, followed by the wizard. Theobald waited for the remaining soldiers to enter the portal before entering. As soon as they left, the entire tunnel fell into a devastating silence and darkness. The only sound that could be heard was the faint hum coming from the fast-spinning vortex. The only faint source of light also came from the portal, only covering a small distance. The tunnel was completely empty at that moment, back to its original dead form, with not a single living thing in sight. Or so it seemed. Just a few seconds after the crew exited the tunnel through the portal, a few meters from the portal, a black wisp appeared. The tiny black wisp began rotating on the spot and after a few seconds it exploded into dense black mist that camouflaged with the dark tunnel. A few seconds after its appearance, a humanoid figure could be seen standing within it. As the dense smoke began to clear, the figure became clearer — it was a masked man standing at about 6'5", with a lean muscular build, a build totally unmatched with his black wizard robe. The mask covering this man's face was similar to one on the face of the cultist William defeated a few days back. The huge dark-robed figure took a few steps out of the black smoke enshrouding him, and closer to the portal. His eyes were fixed on the portal with a sharp, murderous gaze being emitted from them, almost as though he was staring at his family's murderer. "They really think they can stop the great cause? Tch, pathetic."

Early morning had already arrived over the dark island. The sun shone brightly over the evil island, radiating a strong golden glow and heat. The sun easily permeated the small confinement of the room which only comprised of a few wooden chairs, a bed and a tall wooden cupboard where the previous owner of the room kept their wands and attires.Inside a spacious, dimly-lit room at the dark island, the core members of the two groups could be seen standing around a small desk.Melissa and Peterson brought out a more detailed ancient map of the place and described it to William and Theobald who represented their group. Only two members were allowed to attend the meeting thus both of them were sent."The first three floors are very easy to clear, they comprise mostly of mid-level apprentice wizards with barely enough mana in their mana reserve to cast powerful spells. While they are a little bit stronger than the wizards guarding the fences, they are not that much trouble for a well-traine

The crew ended up spending more than half an hour discussing about the plans to infiltrate the dark tower, how to act within it, how to avoid suspicions, path to follow, and where to find certain important people inside the tower. Most of the explanation was done by Peterson, the trustworthy assassin of Melissa's squad. His information and description were clear and vivid—better than reading it from a map.Melissa and a few members of her squad also added to the information available. As they had been around the tower for several days, their understanding of the place was an important lesson to William and the others.During their discussions, they had to halt several times—either when the surveillance light flashed in their direction or when actual members of the cult walked by.They were able to finish their discussion without drawing that much attention to themselves. After they were done discussing, they began preparing to act on the plans they had just finalized."Here."Melissa

William and the crew, now under disguise, were strolling around. From ahead, a group of Gravemind cultist strolled in their direction. They were about fifteen of them in numbers, each of them stood tall with heights above six feets. A few of them had huge muscular builds similar to Theobald's.Their strides were filled with arrogance, something the other cultist William had slayed lacked.William was the first to notice the oddity of the group marching in their direction, and he couldn't help but frown. Why were they so different from the others? he asked himself.William kept his eyes on the small group as they closed in on each other. His eyes was fixed on that of the biggest one in the ground who, coincidentally, also had his eyes locked with his. They walked in separate groups, each of them moving in different directions, ensuring that all the perimeter of the fence was covered at all times.A small group of three cultists could be seen strolling together while discussing amongst themselves, unaware of the arrival of an unstoppable opponent."I heard the great leader would be arriving tonight," one of them brought up a new conversation."Frederico told me about that a few hours ago, I thought he was lying. So you guys heard the same thing?" The one in the middle replied."Frederico wasn't lying, I overheard two of our superiors discussing about his arrival.""I suspect something important would go down in a few days. The great leader never visits the tower unless for a very important event, could it be that the preparing of the grand ritual has been completed and he is here to finalize it?"The

William and the crew could be seen strolling towards the vast water body with silent and cautious step. At the moment, each of them had a long black fabric covering their head. The black fabric served as a camouflage each time the beam of the light rotated in their direction. As the land was plain and filled with dark sand and skeletal remains, covering themselves in black clothings made them more difficult to detect from afar.Thankfully, this barren land had no sort of abnormalities, not even corrupted creatures that usually raided the night. If there were unlucky enough to have faced anyone, their location would be revealed to the cult once and their entire plan would be ruined."Walk faster! We need to be at the island before morning arrives!"Theobald announced to the others while strolling beside the hero. Both of them took long strides forward, their eyes cautiously scanning their surroundings from time to time.King Julian and the others increased their pace and soon caught up

After the peculiar sensation of passing through the portal faded, William found himself standing in a strange, unfamiliar location."Wow!"The scene before him prompted the hero to exclaim in genuine astonishment.Spread before his eyes was a vast, barren land plunged into darkness and gloom. Only the faint crescent light of the full moon hanging in the sky battled the intense blackness. Not far from his current position, William’s gaze fell on a truly vast, large water body that stretched over a long distance, seemingly unending from his perspective. The hero needed no geography expert to tell him this was Dark Island, the sacred landmark and hideout of the most terrifying dark wizard cult in this dark world. The sound of water calmly flowing could be heard clearly, and the waters were almost visible as they softly reflected the moon."What is that?"A surprised voice muttered behind the hero as its owner’s eyes suddenly and instantly fell upon a mysterious, silhouetted structure ris
