Defeating the flame lion

Charlie quickly dodged to the side, but still didn’t escape unscathed. Flame lion swiped its paw at his chest, leaving a scratch and some burn marks on his chest. His already tattered clothe was now filled with more holes and burn marks.

The most amazing thing is that, as the flaming lion's body makes contact with Charlie’s body, the flame on its body reduces. The spectators didn’t notice at first, but after observing the fight for like twenty minutes confusion was boldly written on the team leader's face while the other people thought that it was due to the flaming lion's exhaustion.

Well, the culprit who was slowly stealing the flame is none other than the golden tree in Charlie’s body. When the lion makes contact with Charlie, the golden tree will quickly extend a tiny tendril, suck a little flame, and quickly retracted itself before anyone could see it. This went on until the flaming lion was finally exhausted.

Charlie made use of this opportunity to use the spear in his hands to blind the flaming lion's eyes. After blinding the lion, he kicked it to a tree and continued to stump on it till the flaming lion gave up the ghost and the flickering flame on its body was finally extinguished.

“Pa!! Pa!! Pa!!” he heard applause from behind him, he turned back to see the team leader slowly walking towards him.

“You're good, kid! Very good! I didn’t expect you to fight and defeat a peak stage level 2 awakened beast all by yourself!

Even though the beast has been injured by us, a lean camel is still better than a fat horse.”

“you're a kid worth nurturing,” the team leader said, before casting a healing spell on Charlie.

Kartia and pondhia, and the other remaining logistics members quickly went to the dead beast and starts to cut it open. They removed everything that was of value and put it inside karma's sack. A totem warrior was there to inspect their work and to also make sure they didn’t do anything wrong, plus, kartia and pondhia have been doing the work for a year now (they’re experienced).

“In all the little year’s that I have spent on this land, I’ve never seen anyone who awakens by themselves without performing the normal awakening ritual.

So kid, how did you awaken your totem avatar?”

Now, the big question has arrived!

Charlie told the team leader the lies he had already prepared in advance. The audience listened intently, martial even took out a pen and paper to note down some important points.

“Okay, can you take us to where you saw the two beasts fighting?”

“Yes sir, I’ll surely take you there!” Charlie answered.

.he had narrated everything his eyes have seen, except for the part where he consumed the beast's core and the part where the big ape committed suicide. He told them that when he secretly came back to investigate what was happening after awakening, he met the corpse of both beasts on the ground and a group of powerful beasts ( the flaming lion included), feasting on the dead ape.

The tram leader frown immediately after he heard of the shadow beast described by Charlie but still didn’t say anything.

While on their way to the “crime scene” Charlie asked questions from the totem warriors to which they answered him honestly, without withholding information.

“There are about five levels of totem warriors that I know:

Level 1 totem warriors or the bronze ranked warriors are warriors who just awakened their totem powers like you. At this stage, or should I say at the first three levels of totem warriors, the Level of a warrior's totem powers is determined by the height of their awakened totem beasts…” one of the totem warriors explained to him about the various levels of powers.

A newly awakened totem avatar should have a normal height of 3 meters while a second-level warrior has an avatar with a height of 6 meters. And finally, a level three totem warrior should have an avatar with a height of 9 meters. Every level always has an increment of 3 meters and each meter stands for a stage, for example; Charlie’s avatar that’s currently at 4 meters in height signified that he’s at the middle stage of the bronze rank which is quite abnormal for a newly awakened totem warrior to possess.

There are the first, middle, and peak stages.

The flaming lion that was killed was at the peak stage of the second rank, the silver rank which is equivalent to an 8-meter-tall avatar of the human race ranking system.

The third level is called the yellow or gold rank, while the fourth and fifth level warrior is called warrior kings and warrior emperors respectively.

Charlie chatted with the totem warriors who are eager to talk with a hardworking genius like him. Most of them can’t solo a peak level 2 monster like the flaming lion, even though it was heavily injured. So he earned their respect with that miraculous act of his.

After walking for a while, they reached “the crime scene”. The corpse of the shadow beast was still there, but nothing was left of the big white ape, not even a drop of blood.

The team leader quickly moved to examine the dead shadow beast, and the frown on his face further deepened each time he turned the beast over to examine.

The other totem warriors also surrounded the beast to examine it, but they were not as knowledgeable as the group leader; they didn’t know which type of beast it is.

While the totem warriors were busy examining the shadow beast, Charlie quickly called pondhia and kartia and took them to the place he was hiding during the fight. When they got there, he found out that the meat he buried had already been unearthed and was probably eaten by the wolves.

“Bring me a messenger pigeon, a pen, and a piece of paper!” the team leader barked an order. The sense of urgency was evident in his voice.
